      lucid dreaming for physical healing

As I'm brand new to this site I'm not sure where to post this. I'm not new to lucid dreaming and have interest in using lucid dreaming for real self healing for real medical conditions. I'm sure that can be achieved. Anyone with ideas about this or experience with this??

Yup, you've posted in the right place. I imagine it may be possible to use visualization and positive thoughts to increase healing, therefore it may be possible to also use LDs this way. For example, if you had a bad scratch or cut, you could apply a "concentrated healing cream" to the affected area and possibly make it heal faster - who knows? I wonder if anyone has ever tried this?

i also have interest in this, although i really don't know anything of value, or have any experiences to share. except to say i believe it entirely possible for some reason, and have had the intuitive belief 'spiritual' healing is real for ages, in dreams especially. it is one of the main reasons i became interested in lucid dreaming.

certain shamans/yogins claim to be able to travel to people in the dreaming state and physically heal them (or themselves).

      keep on searching...

Thanks for the prompt comments. I am familiar with shamonic journeying/trance states and do feel that level of awareness is the same as I've experienced while lucid dreaming. I have been away from such pursuits for a few years and now am returning. Am glad I checked into this site.

      healing

      Hi Booker,

here's a few ideas to explore with healing and dreaming:

Visualization - there have been some studies of cancer survivors using visualization of healing imagey and having improved survival rates over control groups. In LD's you can visualize healing for yourself or for others.

Meditation - A number of writers have noted that meditative experiences in a LD state are more powerful than a similar meditation in a waking state.

Guides - some people encounter guides in LDs that provide helpful information and guidance. This may be understood as the symbolization of the subconscious, or as external entities. The point is that information unknown to the conscious ego may be gained. Guidance could be in the form of recommendations for change in diet, exercise, or may be direct healing.

Dream incubation This process may lead to direct healing, or to information, in a normal dream. The ancient Greeks invoked the god Asclepius and his son Telesphoros for healing dreams. Patricia Garfield on her book on healing and dreams, has a very extensive dream incubation exercise. Shorter exercises can be found in her Creative Dreaming.

My personal experience with LDs for healing is limited, as is my ability thus far to induce LDs. However I believe there is enormous potential.

i will certainly second this...some of my 'deepest' meditations have been while lucid dreaming.

I have also heard that if you have a hard time LDing the use of psychadelic drugs can facilitate this. They certainly enhance your visualization powers. Dreams are powerful.

Thanks for the posting however I'll pass on all ideas about using drugs to promote LD's. One's own mind is plenty potent to achieve most anything!!

      Hey! That's you!

But in all seriousness, I think this may have some validity, although it may be off just a little. Since you are new here booker, let me say my beliefs are a little out there. End disclaimer.

I believe we all have many bodies, not just a physical one. The physical corresponds to the other bodies, (as below so above, as above so below). When we actually have some physical ailment, like an ulcer, a tumor, or cancer, that corresponds to some damage in the higher bodies. That damage comes from an improper way of regulating the emotions. Internally, we can tell when our emotional state and regulation is good or bad. When it's bad, you feel depressed, miserable. More importantly, to contain those feelings, we barrier them in and block the energy pathways, or roads, which they travel.

In order to clear up those blockages, we need to direct good emotions through the same pathways to cancel out the bad, and free up the pathways. That's where lucid dreaming comes in handy. Our relevant energy body is much more sensitive while dreaming. Also I think that dreaming actually takes place somewhere out in space, in a healthier environment, but that's an aside.

Becoming lucid and then focusing on breathing in the healthy atmosphere and having it circulate through one's energy body is my proposition for a lucid healing technique. Of course, one may get in touch with this energy body while awake too, and do the exercises in waking life, but it's much more efficient while lucid. It's also possible that doing those exercises in daily life may cause you to do them in a non-lucid dream too.
