Continuous lucid & shared dreaming

I just decided to post a brief synopsis of my experiences so far in order to hear your opinions, as some things seem rather difficult to explain.

I have been experiencing lucid dreaming for many years, since I was a kid. It is something I am quite comfortable with and after studying the subject I drew my own conclusions which are outside the scope of this post.

Over the last 4 years I have experienced numerous occurences of a very specific dream. It has always been the same, regardless of its setting, i.e. where it took place. It all started when I realised I've been having the same dream over and over, meeting a person that kept coming closer to me and I felt this mysterious attraction, I was drawn towards that person without being able to explain why. Suddenly one morning, I bumped into a person that changed my life forever. I felt so magnetised by her that I somehow knew that she was the person I have been dreaming about. Strangely enough, after spending two years as partners we discussed this and we both found that we experienced the same feelings and dreams. So far, so good one would say.

The strangest part of the story started after we decided to go separate ways for some rather insignificant reasons. Over the last 18 months that we've been away from each other, we have been very careful not to contact each other except in 1 occasion that we both felt we must talk about what we were experiencing. We have been sharing the same dream, down to every single detail. We have dreamt of a meeting place which we could not identify, yet we DID meet one day in a place that we both felt like going, but never been before. Then we realised that we had been feeling each other's emotions continuously and despite the fact that we knew that this should be investigated further, we chose to ignore it. I could go on for much longer, describing every single lucid/shared dreaming experiene we've had so far as it is all somehow imprinted in the back of my mind.

The strangest events took place over ther last 3 months. I experienced a dream so vivid that I jumped out of bed and there in front of me I could clearly "see" her being in distress. She was held down by someone who seemed to be beating her and she was desperately crying for help, but I couldn't sense the sound of her cries. I somehow knew I should contact her, but I didn't. Strangely, a few days later she contacted me, asking me to meet up. After careful consideration I agreed. We met and she confirmed to me the exact date of the dream I had and told me how she was in distress indeed. After talking about this, we found that we've both been experiencing the same dreams even after we walked away from each other. We realised and agreed on how we are -inexplicably- drawn to each other, yet we both try hard to stay apart for reasons we cannot explain either. We both have been told that we were together in a "past life", but this explanation raises even more questions.

I apologise for my long post, but I would like to read your opinions on this. It is something that I haven't been able to take off my mind for the last 4 years and despite our efforts to stay apart, it seems that something links us together and renders our dreams continuously.

Whoa, thats freaky but quite reassuring in a strange sort of way.

Maybe you two are soul mates, thats a cheesy term I know but who's to say that they dont exist? Maybe most of us just never find them.

I dont know why you two seperated but it seems to me that there is alot more pulling you together than you might realise, You are meant to be and if I was you I would be tempted to make contact with her and give it another go.

Life is too short to miss out on opportunities like this.

Who knows what other experiences you may share in the future.

I think it seems possible that you and her were together in a past life, maybe over and over many past lives. You could investigate this, perhaps through meditation.

Wow, that's quite an amazing story. I personally do believe in shared dreams, having experienced them myself. I don't believe in coincidence, I think everything happens for a reason and there's obviously a very strong link between you and this person. You are in each others life for a purpose but perhaps not necessarily meant to be in a romantic relationship, (hence the trying to stay apart aspect). Who knows? I don't know a lot about past lives but the fact that you are both obviously so linked needs to be explored. This may be a wonderful experience but may also involve a lot of soul searching or heartache depending on what is uncovered.

I think you're asking the wrong people questions.
I've quoted parts of your letter to show your lack of response to your own experiences. Seems like something is being avoided by you.

One of my friends had a somewhat similar experience. He dreamed for weeks of a specific woman. Then he met her in waking life. He ended up marrying someone else, and he seems happy with her.

One thing I that I find interesting is that on this forum and others, there are people trying very hard to achieve dream sharing. You have this experience repeatedly, but its only puzzling to you. Just shows that one man's treasure is another man's trash.

I am by no means experienced in Lucid Dreaming, but one time I was aware of trying to enter my friends bedroom, but was unable to get in. The next day he said he dreamt someone was trying to get into his room.

My experience doesn't convince me of shared dreaming, but it makes me a little less skeptical.

I had a shared dream while i was studying psychology at uni, My friend was doing neuro psychology modules with a young and talented professoer who was lectureing as well as conducting his own research he was using vr to help rehabillitate car crash victims Upon hearing that he had been killed in a motorcycle accident and my freind approached me to chat and she was naturally upset

that night i had a dream of my friend it was corny we were walking hand in hand talking about the meaning of life the universe and everything, as we walked and talked we began walking on air up into the sky ( like E.T. did on his bike) we walked out into space it was dark and we looked back at the earth (like you see in photos and talked like lovers do

i woke up from the dream and though nothing of it given the previous days news and conversation I went into Uni , first place I went was the cafe and first person i saw was my freind from the other side of the room she came over to me I said nothing but remembered the dream .She said "Steve ... I had really strange dream about you last night and proceeded to relate my dream"

I have since found out there are many people who can share dreams lucidly

I can understantdhow having shared dream with someone can lead you to become slightly obsessed by the experience thinking why did it happen to me? what does it mean? what is our connection? I have heard it said that those who share dreams (non lucidly )are often souls "that have been together in a previous life" I'm not so sure "I believe" the reicarnation model but think it had it uses in order to understand simply some experiences. another way to think about it is that people who share dreams are simply tuned to the same frequency ?
