Some times when I meditate or focus on relaxation techniques for lucid dreaming I get a very srange feeling in my head. It is very hard to describe but I feel like I am partly disconected from myself and very aware of my surroundings at the same time. It is like being far away and very close at the same time. The more I concentate on this feeling the more intense it gets. Almost to the point to were I feel like my conscienous is expanding or moving away. I then get a little scared and very excited until I either just get up for a while or it fades. The first time I expeirenced this I had just fallen asleep and it scared me very much. I almost get the feeling of something closing in on me too. I dont know if any of you have this feeling or if it is just me but maybe someone knows what I am experiencing. |

Well, he may have a point, although that was a bit hostile for someone seeking a peaceful forum (I think maybe he wasnt entirely serious). I used that avitar on a completely different forum and I suppose I have become a bit desensitized to it. I did not intend to creep any one out. I will try to find something more suitable. |

Oh I've had SP this was not it. SP is just horrible! I think it must have been the WILD. Thanks for the input! |

OK I tried entering WILD last night and I got the same feeling in my head. It was like everything was closing in on me and opening up at the sametime. It made my heart pound but I tried to go with the flow. I found it hard to keep my eyes closed and I felt very light. While I was going through this, all imagery stopped unless I really tried. Then my wife started talking in her sleep and I lost it. I ended up falling asleep before I could get it back. Any Idea what the heck this is? Is it normal. It realy isnt very pleasant, but I am going to keep trying if it will let me into a WILD. |

I get almost the exact same feeling quite a lot. I actually have grown to quite enjoy it. It almost seems as if you are half way between reality and a dream. The ability to be disconnected from yourself while very aware of your surroundings can be quite strange. Its almost as if your above yourself looking down and around the room. Sometimes you may see strangs "figures" or "shapes" around the room that you know arent actually there. If you can manage to "enjoy" or "accept" this stage play around and try a few different things. For example, try leaving the room (be careful, I have heard from a friend that this can get really creepy). I have found this stage to usually only be intense for a few minutes, then it fades and I fall asleep, the times when I get this are the times I seem to remember my dreams the clearest. |

Well, even though this is the beyond dreaming section I'm still a little hesitant to say this, but, it could be (gasp!) the beginning stages of an astral projection or out of body experience. Some people find the separation comes involuntarily, and you might be one. |
