Hopefully someone can share some knowledge about this?

Like the topic description states - I am very new to the whole new world of lucid dreaming. But after reading a couple of threads about night terrors and certain powers/spirits etc. [I am sure you understand] I have a question, which may seem quite stupid or.. useless and uninteresting -- but hopefully you will all bare with me on this one.

Now, what has happened - previous to my first memorable LD -- as I would sleep I would hear almost DEMONIC voices yelling in my ears - almost as soon as I'd fall asleep -- it was extremely loud and sounded like a language was being spoken - rather than just some strange sounds. I couldn't move - but I knew I was sleeping for certain.
At first I thought I was just hearing something in my body working - for e.g. you know how sometimes you can hear your own pulse when your lying on your side? Sometimes that can be quite loud.

I began having a couple.. no more than 4 - if I remember correctly. & the most happened during the same night. They did not last that long at all. At first I was very spooked.. The sounds were just so loud it hurt me - I remember on my last one I asked questions to the sounds in my head [i.e. 'What are you?' 'What do you want?' - the sounds got louder -- then one time I mocked it: 'You don't scare me anymore.. get away' -- that sort of thing. And I never heard the voices/sounds again. Instead of trying to escape it & wake up; I confronted it.

I don't have any knowledge at all on this sort of thing.. but I am interested to learn.

Do a search on hypnogogic. That's what this is.

I sometimes heard whispers a few years back. The most annoying to me was a loud buzzing sound that hurt my left hear. The most intriguing was the reinterpretation in my head of an ambient sound in my room.

These hallucinations can be visual or auditory or tactile and sometimes interpreted by your currently held or past held beliefs. It can be scary if the belief is/was screwy by nature/design.

In simple terms, It occurs when your senses disconnect from the outside world before falling asleep. If your mind falls asleep before the body than you never experience this. If your body disconnects while you are still conscious then you will notice these screwy things. I hate it.

Maybe something is trying to get through to you...

I was happy the sounds had vanished - although, now I wouldn't mind them returning if there is a message for me.
I will post if there's any progress.

icuurd12b42, at first I didn't understand all of your points - but after doing a little research on ' hypnagogic', everything you have said now makes sense to me. I understand that this happened shortly before I actually fell asleep. This would explain why I felt the sounds appeared so quickly & I was fully aware.

# Increased stress
# Sudden environmental/lifestyle changes"

The audio hallucination part of hypnagogia, as far as I can tell.

It sounds like a book i read a couple days ago. Alazabel Crey had a spirit from a cult in her body named Thatch. Thatch kept on speaking to her in weird monotones. symtoms:



1. your somewhere you dont remember getting to.

2. you cant remember your past

3. your body does things you do not wish it to do

4. hearing voices talk to you



the book was fiction but.............

Nice information dreamergirl, although - number four was the only thing that relates to my experience from that list.

They may not be spirits. But beings with awareness like us, but no physicality. I've had the voices, they are usually trying to be helpfull. next time tell them to Lower it down. or ask them to show you pictures instead. But congrats on voicing your Intent in a dream!

LOL i havnt read all of it but...waht you are experiencing is SP = sleep paralisis.

All it is is hypnotic sounds -what ever there called.

A HIGH PERCENTAGE OF PEOPLE GET THEM! read threads about Sleep paralisis or WILD's!
