I always have major sleep deprivation. Usually, I have been caught awake at 4 in the morning. Next day, when I have to wake up at 8:15, I walk into school trying to figure the heck out why the walls are melting. |

Although it does not work well with Lucid dreaming . I have pondreded over my expieriances I have had when deprived of sleep. |

I'm in a constant state of sleep deprivation. You think I'd have a rem rebound or something... but no such luck. |

Actually I've had pretty bad issues with sleep over the past few years. I usually get 4-5 hours of sleep a night but at least once a week will be awake for up to forty hours before sleeping. I don't have any odd side effects other than being more proned to irritation once in a while, this is just how my body works naturally. I have noticed that this is actually when my creativity is at its peak, especially as far as comedic aspects are concerned. I have noticed that sometimes when I have been up for the longest is when I tend to sleep more deeply more quickly, especially knowing that my natural clock will only let me get limited sleep, and therefore hit REM much more quickly. |

I now have a paper route to produce income for the Techboy family! *adopted*
~If you see my mind tell it dinner's at six~
i sleep every other night, as some of you know...its fun...fun sleep-deprivation game: drink 2x the normal amount of nyquil, then try to remain awake as long as possible...try not sitting or laying down...if you're standing its harder to fall asleep...eventually you start to dream while awake...its really cool, and probably totally bad for you |

That sounds cool. LET US GO FRY OUR BRAINS! |

I think the lack of sleep and then finally getting some really good sleep will increase your chances of lucidity. Just a thought. |

I used to do sleep deprivation experiments in high school. I made it to 65 hrs straight once. I was an emotional wreck at around 60. The first thing I usually notice is that sound gets twisted. Then it becomes very easy to tune the real world out. I space out a lot when I'm sleep deprived. Like, not neccessarily thinking about anything even. Just spacing. I do also find creativity to be at a peak in earlier stages. But at some point, the brain kinda goes on meltdown mode and turns to slush. The hardest thing to do is to keep busy enough. After a while, reading is pretty much out of the question. Then even watching tv and movies becomes too tough. Here's an interesting thought for you to ponder. If we had, say, 3 suns in our system that were evenly spaced so that there was always light on our planet -- do you think we would evolve to never sleep? I notice that it's much easier to stay awake during daylight hours than night when sleep deprived. Even with lots of atrificial light. |

Just a friendly reminder to do a reality check. : ) Are you dreaming? How do you know?
That's an intresting question 42. I always wondered about the purpose of sleep. I mean I think that there is a good chance that humans would not need sleep. |

That sheds a lot of light on this religion ive been reading about. Apparently some primitive civilisation (i cant remember their name) use to take their initiates into the woods (in a cabin) and for 7 days straight they just ring bells, no sleep at all. They go into the woods afterwards and if the initiate can hear the wood spirits he graduates, if he dosnt they start again. Now im not suprised the poor guys would be hallucinating stuff. |

Where is my mind?
does anyone here get the imagery...like in a circular fasion...like it will start from the edges of ur vision and close in tightly into a ball .....and keep doing that over and over..i get that and have ot open my eyes as its annoying |

I'm doing a variation of the polyphasic sleep schedule, sleeping about 3 hours a day spread throughout the hours in the form of naps. I actually find that I've been lucid dreaming a whole lot more on this schedule but it could be because I wake up more and dreams are more easily remembered if you wake up after your REM cycle. |

The dream is real, my friends. The failure to realize it is the only unreality.

I have noticed that when someone is sleep deprived (4- hours of sleep per night) that when they try to sleep, they often get sleep paralysis. I am not entirely certain of all the 'benefits' of sleep paralysis are, but I know that some people use this to initiate an OBE. |

someone earlier in this thread asked that if it was always light outside, do you think humans would evolve to not need sleep? |

- what they can never know is what we do to them in our minds -
- the premise that led to the war on terror is a lie -

See you at tha crossroads...
Isnt bad sleep deprivation bad for blood pressure? and other stuff like that? |

i think sleeping evolved over time. cave men had no artificial light so they couldn't so anything during the night so they did nothing at night, which eventually lead to sleep. if cave men had artificial light they probably would not have slept. we would not sleep nowadays but we have been doing it for so long that it is essential in our everday lives. but im glad cave man had nothing better to do because now we can have LD's. |

Cave men had fire and torches tho. Right? ( I think fire was discovered by then) |
