So I'm at a place last night, with about 6 people playing a game. If you hit the cue-ball and don't shoot, you loose your shot, it's called mis-cueing. Anyway, several times through the night, this happened. Maybe about 15 times. It never happens this much in one night, because we are that good. I was high on marijuana, and was very anxious to shoot, so the whole time I am just thinking, hurry up and shoot. Anway, several times, I saw the cue-ball move a little without the end of the stick hitting the ball. Even more unbelievable, no one recognized that they hadn't actually hit the cue-ball and it moved, but I did. They actually thought that they had tapped the cue, but I never saw them tap it. They would just be pulling and pushing the stick back like normal, preparing to shoot, then all of a sudden the cue ball would move up a little. I was like WTF?! but didn't say nothing. This even happened when I shot, and for some strange reason I envisioned in my mind wind or energy coming off the end of the cue-stick while I was preparing to shoot, and it moved the cue-ball. I have never hallucinated off of marijuana, but it was very strange, and I still don't believe what I saw. I was looking around thinking that wind or something had hit the ball. Very weird. This along with several other odd occurances has me starting to seriously consider the thought that I am loosing my mind, and I am not even joking.

You probably have but never noticed. Get off the pot. Go back to normalcy.

It's rare, but marijuana IS known to cause mild hallucinations in some people. Also falls under the paranoia effect--weed can make people believe a LOT of random stuff at times. Like jaydawg way back when, who came onto DV telling us all that Jews were taking over the world through the US government--which he knew because he thought it all up when he was high.

Or, it could have nothing to do with the weed; leaning on the table to brace yourself for a shot wiggles the table slightly.

Either way, it's really not a convincing story. Especially since we're all supposed to be taking this on your word.

THC levels in pot have dangerously increased over the years. The levels are now at the point that it is common to hallucinate. It is less common to notice though. As the common hallucinations are simply derived from real life details. More complex ones is a sign to stop using it. At the very least, only use pot once in a while.

that's probably not true, scientists in the EU have done studies that have shown that the average THC level in cannabis has stayed basically the same over the years, and probably hasn't changed much since the 1970's either. They say one of the most potent varieties was sold by a company in the 1920's.

cannabis hasn't been shown to cause significant brain damage at all, the studies done in 1974 were done on animals where they gave them almost 40,000 times the active dosage. I don't think theres anybody who could smoke that much weed in the whole world.

Yeah, brain damage isn't a concern with weed. The big problems are memory loss and paranoia, plus lung damage and cancer if it's smoked.

It is so true, though it depends where you get your shit.

In the 70s it was 4 in the 90s is was 14. God knows what it's at now. I should know, I smoked this shit for years. There is a difference.

Smoke enough daily, you could run the risk of a psychotic episode. I know. Not a good trip if you ask me.

Schizoid events is a major side effect of long term smokers.

True.

I have abused the stuff and now, with a clear head, I can see how this is true. You need to smoke the stuff every day though for the effect to be permanent.

I seldomly smoke it now but I can tell you that the people who use the shit see and hear shit that aint there. I hang around the bar every week and it is hilarious to see people on pot seeing things. A conserning effect is people hearing things that someone else did not say, almost causing fights here and there. Amazing.

14% is still high-grade and hard to find marijuana, most commercial grade cannabis averages 6%, which is only slightly higher than it was in the 70's. Even the very best varieties from british columbia haven't gone above 25%. It could also be that the mild LSD like effect of cannabis has the same effect as LSD, which can make schizophrenia that was previously unknown much worse, but brain damage is negligible.

I think the best idea is just to not smoke it. Statistics or not, I don't like playing gambling games with the stakes being my brain. Your choice, though.

And, yeah, I think being high at the time is probably what caused you to mis-cue so much.

you were high.
and the table was likely indiscernibly moved.

oh, and the whole TCH potency thing is generally bunk. i know someone who has grown their own pot (outdoor and organic) since the beginning of the sixties, mostly the same strains (he started when he was 13)

as someone who used to smoke carefully cultivated hydroponic BC bud daily, i'd say my hippie friend has some of the best grass i've ever smoked...two inhalations floored me in the middle of years of constant use.
------
even if one were to deem the potency myth credible though, it is irrelevant.

if one drinks beer, or moonshine, they still eventually reach the point where they are so goddam drunk they can't stand.

whether one smokes 4 joints of borderline shake to their dome, or has one drag of premium cannabis, they are both smiling and marveling at the little things in the end. you don't get "more high", you get high quicker

anyone who perpetuates the potency myth as a scare tactic would do well to try smoking up...they seemingly have the reasoning capacity of a stoner anyways

---

oh, i experienced various visual and auditory hallucinations when i habitually smoked many joints a day. i would also have occasional panic attacks in which i thought myself dying, and felt as if i couldn't breath.

to this day i have no idea whether my lungs were truly struggling, or whether i was just tripping...probably both.

ive heard once something about a ball causing pressure on the felt of the table. which makes the ball to fall into a side pocket literally more tehn 10 seconds after its stopped moving. That could have happened in the middle of the table if there was a slgiht bump. idk i could be way off or high when I read that.

heh yah thc panic attacks! last time i was on an international flight I had eaten large amount of hash (idk how much, but i do know that the equivilant amount of marijuanna would have even been enough to get me high)...when the plane took off i thought it was crashing, it even looked like it was crashing..i was scared and thought I would die...but I just went with it.

I enjoyed the stuff often and at the end, I would get that feeling all the time (Didn't matter how much I used). That's why I quit. I guess I'm too old for this shit.

Yeah that's one of the reasons that I have seriously laid off the pot. I've been smoking the shit for years, and it got to the point were the high was just terrible. Fear of death, and what people are thinking and shit, just not even enjoyable. Anyway, that night at the pool room was the first time in awhile that I have smoked it, and I had a good time. Now that I look back on what happened at the Pool Room it was weird, but I don't even think about it now. It's been over a week. I just push it to the back of my mind, along with all the other "weird and surreal" experiances I have been through and move on.

It's a good thing to lay off the shit. An added bonus is that, when you do use it, it just takes a few puffs to get this incredible high. Not at all like smoking it daily.

I enjoy watching people on the stuff now as much as getting high. Like I said in my prior post, You see people acting all wierd and just try to imagine what they think they are seeing or hearing. Their sutiational confusion is very funny some times.

I've been smoking weed for a long time, and the doc says I'm healthy.

It's all the damn media/government that makes people think Weed, and other drugs are so bad. We can even look at some numbers; 1,800,000 people a year die from alcohol related deaths, 5,000,000 deaths a year cause by cigarettes. However, ilegal drugs are linked to under 10,000 deaths per year (in the US).

They made drugs illegal because they can't make money from them (its alcohol/tobacco companys that pay for anti-drug commercials), not because they are bad for you. Why do you think alcohol and tobacco are legal while Cannabis is ilegal. Who's the real killer?

While I do agree that some drugs are horrible and do ruin peoples lifes, Cannabis does not if used by responsible people.

icuurd12b42, I really think you should think about the things you say before you make yourself look like a brainwashed ignorant idiot.

I live in B.C. and i've been smoking the weed here on and off since the eighties. It is definatey more powerful. I'm a local guy so i know the best growers around here.
IN the early ninties i experimented with Lsd as well as pot, then i quit all drugs. When i started smoking pot again 8 years later i found it comparable to a lsd trip. I talk to some of my friends about it and they agree that it is a lot like acid (lsd). The only people it doesn't seem to affect are the cronic smokers. I know people that won't touch b.c. bud and would rather do mushrooms or cocaine because the pot trip is to much for them.

icuurd12b42, I really think you should think about the things you say before you make yourself look like a brainwashed ignorant idiot.

I disagree.

For one, those numbers don't mean much: Alchohol is MUCH more widespread in its use than illegal drugs, and is used in a more recreational fashion, leading to more accidental deaths associated with it.
I'm not big on alcohol, or tobacco really, but cannabis is arguably worse for you. For one, tobacco causes cancer, lung disease and all that crap, but if you're smoking cannabis, you're doing the same damage. BUT, beyond that, cannabis causes paranoia, hallucinations, schizophrenia, memory loss and can mess with your hormone balances.
All other illegal drugs are even worse. LSD could be considered the exception, since it has very few side effects, and even then in only a few rare individuals.
Plus, you've got to consider where the drug money is going--with cannabis, it isn't a big deal. But cocaine--the money goes straight to Columbia. Guess what it's used for? Bribing officials, buying weapons to kill officials that can't be bribed, and expanding a slave-labor like system to produce the highest amount of cheap coca possible. I honestly think that we ought not only step up enforcement on cocaine dealers, but we ought to start stepping in with things in Columbia and taking out the drug lords.
