Has anyone else here had an OBE in the waking state? I only have once and it was due to the use of phycoactives.

Nope, not me. I've got to say though, I've been investigating OBE off and on for about 6 years now and am still quite skeptical about the validity.

I've read the books, talked to many people, and am still not convinced that OBE is not just some specialized form of lucid dream. The real kicker for me is if OBE is a ligitimate experience, there should be a way to prove it scientifically like was done for lucid dreaming.

I'm not saying the OBE does not exist, I'm just waiting for some hard objective proof before I believe.

I agree with Seeker, there needs to be more solid proof. And I have felt my head floating towards the ceiling and seen the people in the room sitting there talking, but it was good ol' SP and HH.

I have tried it many times. I have several times gotten to a state that resembles a sensory deprivation state. The top state I have reached resembles a hypnogogic state, the state of imagery experience one reaches before entering the dream state. It really felt like I was drifting off to sleep when that happened. The most vivid one of those I reached was interrupted by a freight train going by with the damn horn not letting up for ten minutes. I have wondered what would have become of that experience if it had not been interrupted. It seemed for a moment like it might have been a full blown lucid dream, or somewhere in the no man's land between the two states. (?) I vividly saw the side of a hill by a farm, where a farmer was standing by a truck. Although it was so vivid, it did not look like anything real. I have not been able to go beyond that so far. However, if there is a way, I really want to do it.

I have, however, felt like I was levitating up and down while experiencing sleep paralysis. I felt intense tingling, surges of energy, and a deep sound of vibrations accompanied by a bizarre rush. It reminded me of some descriptions of the DMT experience. I never noticed a moment of officially "waking up," and I questioned whether or not I had even been asleep during the experience in the first place. This has happened several times. One of those times, I felt a seeming communication of love, in the form of a feeling, from my grandmother, who had died a year earlier. I was living in the house she had lived in the last 35 years of her life. This is the same grandmother who my brother and I both dreamed told us she is still alive when he spent the night there with me.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?
