I was wondering if I can use dreams as an expedient means for spiritual progress.

Does anyone here have any recommendations on any courses, instruction manuals or recommended Dream Yoga teachers in Singapore?

To put it another way, what do I do in my lucid dreams if I want to progress spiritually? I have had quite a number of lucid dreams, but I don't know what to do to aid my spiritual progress. I am inclined towards Buddhism.

Any genuine help would be appreciated (Fraudsters and Predators, stay off please. Thanks)
      Thanks in advance.

I have read some things about dream meditation. I have never pulled it off well myself, but it is highly recommended by some people. I'd say look up "lucid dream meditation" on Google.com and see what all you get.

Going into a lucid dream state and pondering on the secret of the universe might be a good place to start. Dreams are a great place for thinking philosophically, so you should have a lucid and think about the deepest questions you can think of. That alone would probably lead to some progress. I have had all kinds of wild experiences with metaphysical and mystical awareness in my dreams. I just haven't gotten the hang of meditating in a dream without losing the dream. I probably need to try other forms of meditations while dreaming.
      You are dreaming right now.

      Thanks!

On another matter.....is the email message notification working? I had just set it (at the control panel) but it failed to notify me of your reply. All along I could have been missing other people's replies to my messages!

I recommend "The Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep" by Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche.

This is a very good book on yogi positions to help induce different types of dreams (calm or challenging) and gives various methods and techniques to further control (changing sizes, quantity etc.) Eventually the book suggests to remain in the dream environment while lucid and try to understand what your subconscious mind is telling you. Figure out what themes are present and why, what do the characters and situation represent for you.

That book is a good way to start. If you want to know more about meditation and sleep, you can also look at http://www.swamij.com/yoga-nidra.htm

It shows that through practise and meditation we can even attain lucidity in deep sleep. I have done that a couple of times myself and it is a very interesting experience! Btw that website in general gives a lot of good (no fraud there) info on what Yoga is really about.

Perhaps you could try and find creative ways of opening up your chakras. Maybe try to grow a third eye in your dream or something. Leo Volont once described a method he found for engaging his crown chakra while dreaming here.

      Hi Xetrov,

thanks for sharing! I think this will be very useful to me (because from a study of my dreams, it seems to suggest I need to explore solutions by other non-Buddhist gurus)

May Buddha bless you (even if you are not Buddhist)
