That's really interesting. I've also encountered entities during dreaming who seem to be from "outside" - of course, its hard to be sure! But your story caught my attention, because I've also asked these entities questions about themselves and their answers are always cryptic (or they just laugh, which is creepy )

You say you and your friend were practising "Alchemy" when this happened - what do you mean exactly?

A few times, I have encountered a presence in a dream which I can't see, but I can feel is there. This presence has a distinct sense of being "separate" or foreign to the dream environment.

Once, I had a Lucid Dream where I had managed to get into the center of a tornado. It was very calm inside, but I could feel that this presence was there. There was a small wooden box at my feet. I asked what the box was for, the presence gave me a very illogical answer. When I asked: "Who are you?", it just laughed.

This presence may have been completely constructed by my mind, or it may have been something else. I don't know.

I have a friend who believes that dreams happen in an actual place, which he calls the Dreaming. Each of us visit this place when we dream; the principle is similar to astral projection, except we do not actually "leave" our bodies.

He also says that there is a city in the Dreaming, and that there are entities living there who will sometimes enter people's dreams. Some are friendly and others are less friendly. I don't know if this is true, but its an interesting idea. Generally, I believe it is not possible (or at least very difficult) for an outside entity to harm you in any way, unless you have allowed it.

I wanted to ask: Do you and your friend practice ritual magick in waking life? Have you encountered this "ShadowShifter" before? Or do you think that your encounter was purely a dream, made up by your mind?

your friend has an interesting concept. well, in answer to your question, we did but we didnt. we used to sit down on these cut down logs at primary school and meditate. and we believed that the things we saw in this medetation session were real.

yes both me and my friend have encounted the ShadowShifter. We Have now questioned exactly what it is for 2 years now. we have encountered it many times, but still have no answer.

Wow, that's pretty interesting. Has it done anything else except just make you aware that it is there? Besides the once in your dream, have you ever spoken to it? Do you find it frightening, or just a bit puzzling?

In the realms of dreams and magick, I often find it quite difficult to distinguish between "valid" and "non-valid" events. (I use these terms rather than "real" and "non-real", because the line becomes very blurry for me.) I want to be open-minded but very practical at the same time, because I seem to learn the most that way.

For example, a dream character who is helpful in a Lucid Dream (teaches me to fly, or helps me find something) may be a actual Dreamguide, or they simply be an invention of my subconscious. I wonder if there is a way to tell for sure?

I was raised to believe that there is a spirit world (or worlds), and that the entities in it are as varied as people are. I still believe this, and I have had a little bit of first hand experience of it. Usually, my the first reaction was fear, but once I understood who I was dealing with, and boundaries were established, it was actually fine. That might sound quite funny to someone who is more experienced with the spirit realm, but that has been my experience of it.

So I wonder about your Shadowshifter. If it is a "valid" entity, perhaps they found their way to you when you were open to it (during meditation or ceremony)? There are entities who are kind of annoyingly "clingy", and maybe this is the reason it has stuck around. So does it bother you? Do you want to get rid of it? Or is it more just to solve the mystery?

yeh maybe it did.it osnt bother me, it makes me wonder. and i want to find out EXACTLY why it is following me. last night, i encountered it. we sat down and spoke for about 2 minutes, it was the first time i saw any part of its body, its hand, it was just the bones, and some flesh hanging off. we spoke about what its exact purpose is. it spoke about my friend. it also spoke about my team, the sand arms (another topic i have made
.. The revenge) it spoke about how they will fall to the shadow shifter, it said that they would bow down before him/her/it and leave me behind ( become mindless). all that i can remember from this room was my best friends loung room

always be carful when dealing with magic. Personaly, I am facinated with the concept, but I've read enough about it to know it is very damgerus, and if dreams are a "border world" as it where, to the spirit world, then you must be VERY carful about encountering demonic beings.

bottem line: magic = not good

p.s. magic also = demons

I also think dreaming world is like another dimension just like AP. What I think though is that it is a perception of where are in you're dream world and the dream characters you see are usually people that are also dreaming. (Notice how were always dreaming but never see or remember it, or ever had that feeling like you've done this, seen this person, or been somewhere)

I think all of these beings are part of your subconscious which is a very powerful mind, and holds all you're core thoughts, views, ideals, emotions, etc. The subconscious holds the answer to everything, so I think there is a way to go in there and speak to it and actually rewire some of the stuff that you choose to if you can stablize your mind to do all of that.

Reason why I think that is because a week before I signed up to thsi forums I had read about the subconscious and asked for some answer and ever since that I've woken up in the middle of the night hearing 2 parts of me holding conversation and I remember one point I said "I've got it" and started telling the other mind all these examples and it was saying "yes". (This was all while I was awake and could actually open my eyes and get up) The only thing is if I tried to think about something and then think about what just happened I would compeletly forget it that day I spent my whole school day thinking about what I was rambling about and everytime I hear the conversation I'm to far in sleep paralysis that I don't want to write it down what I'm hearing but I'm going to try and write down what it is that I hear.

In the end I would assume I have more than 3 minds because my sub is speaking, my other part of my mind is holding a conversation with my sub and then there is me actually sitting there and learning about it. I think this is why its sometimes hard to recall dreams because in AP to remember stuff it has to relay what happened from the AP plane to the Etheric plane to the Physical plane, I think its the same with the minds when LD, but my minds were so intuned that night that I heard all of them talking but instantly forgot when I tried to hard to think about what was going on.

WIll, not to preach ot anything. I would call an exorcist or something..Get baptisted...or bless the house or something. I must admit even your dream powers won't stop you from Satans angels. I would also would put Jesus in my heart if that happend. I would do all holy thing spossible. Because this "shadow shifter" Is not as powerful as God. Remember that. Thats the best advice I can give you. Don't let it fear you, even it knows and fears the glory of the Lord! (Sorry if i'm a little preachy but this is serious stuff. I don't take demons and eneitys lightly.) I shall pray for you. I truely will.

I saw an entity once (I called it Death though, not a shadow shifter) that is similar to yours, except he didn't talk or appear in an LD. I was riding home from soccer late one night (ok, early one morning, like 3am) a bit drunk (not too drunk to ride my bike though) and on the road of my farm I saw this thin tall man with a coat and a hat on, staring at me smiling (I couldn't see his smile but I new it was there) and I was so terrified, I was convinced he was death.

I was so terrified, but when I looked away and looked back he was no longer there, there was a long mealie (corn) stalk there which could have been a man if the shadows acted right (which they must have coz the moon was out and it was 3am).

So anyway every now and then I get the distinct feeling that he is there somewhere nearby, watching me, laughing. Mostly I feel terrified when I feel him, sometimes it's not so bad and I can ignore it.

I have no idea how you would get your shadow shifter to go away, I wish I wasn't too scared to banish mine!

Remember, don't be scared. That only gives more power to the demon. Although. I'm getting a stroung feeling that "it" is starting to haunt me to. I haven't seen it in my dreams or in real life. I just got this stroung feeling that it will not just come for you guys. But for all of us possibely. I do not fear though. Because I know God is on my side is he is the stroungest alley anyone can have. But if the shadow shifter ever gets into my dreams. I would just go Freddy Krueger on him. Although that might be a abd idea. 9_9 But seriously to protect you and your friends go to a church to help you. (Sorry about the preaching once more but this shadow shifter is a demon.)

Hmm, that's pretty interesting. I would say that if you really want it to go away, just tell it to. You don't seem to be afraid of it, and you actually spoke to it, maybe it will just leave you alone if you tell it to. If not, do some cleansing stuff around yourself and your home. Picture white light, or whatever makes you feel safe just surrounding you and your home and your friends, if you feel they are threatened as well. If this doesn't work and you do feel threatened, maybe seek out some professional help from clergy or members of your religion/belief system that can help you with this.

Edited to add: It might be a good idea to cleanse anyway, even if you don't feel threatened and still seek answers from this being. It never hurts to be too careful! ^^
