This is a misconception. The use of LSD (a crystalline solid, C20H25N3O, the diethylamide of lysergic acid) causes dendrites (Think that is what they are called??) to branch out. This giving reason for the notion that you are becoming smarter.
However as the dendrites do branch out they deform and become useless.
The little messengers in our brain no longer function properly.

LSD creates a dream like state because it replaces the serotonin in your brain. Serotonin is a neurochemical that prevents dreams from happening when you are awake, among other things. When it is gone, you start dreaming on some scale. However, the serotonin loss can cause severe depression that lasts a long time. I have been through it, and it is why I have only done LSD twice. Fortunately, Prozac is synthetic serotonin, and it successfully snapped me back really fast once I got on it.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

I'm confused...are you saying that serotonin depletion causes you to dream? Because I know that's not correct. And I'm also not sure about how serotonin keeps you from dreaming when you're awake...I've never heard this before so I'm wondering where you got that info. Thanks.

A psychologist told me that 16 years ago. A psychologist is not the same as a psychiatrist. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor, but a psychologist is not. It turns out the psychologist had it backwards. Serotonin is part of what causes dreaming.

http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache:TxmR5...t=clnk&cd=2

The same psychologist told me that LSD can fit right in and take its place and that that is why it causes serotonin depletion. There is information on the internet saying that LSD is similar enough to serotonin to act on serotonin receptors and that that is what causes the trip, which is definitely dream like.

http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache:z2D4l...t=clnk&cd=5

What I do know from my own experience is that LSD can cause serotonin depletion. Ecstasy can do the same thing. Both of those drugs put me in severe states of depression after the experience, and Prozac snaps me out if the depression really fast. My brother, who is almost like an identical twin, has exactly the same reactions.

If you want information on drugs, find yourself the book "From Chocolate to Morphinne". A fantascic book covering everything, it gives unbiased no nonsense facts. A must read for anyone who plans on doing any drugs or know people who do.

As for LSD depleting your seratonin, perhaps, but it's not permanent. LSD has been studied extensively for a long time now. Extasy however, has been show to damage the seratonin producing cells in rats. Of course they gave the rats a big enough dose to get an elaphant stoned, but still.

I never said LSD made you smarter I said it causes more of your brain to be used which causes a dream like state even though you are awake.

And I didn't say what the beneifits or dangers of any of them were. I just typed what they did. But the seratonin part was interesting. Thanks a bunch.

Think I'll stick to Dextromethorphan. Also considering trying Liquid Kratom.

DXM? the robo trip stuff? Don't you puke and run the risk of something god awful happening to you without a sitter?

Dunno. For me, pretty much relying on anyone while you trip kind of sucks. Personally, I prefer the good ol' acid and ecstasy combo. Can't go wrong with that really.

Kratom is like weed, except it provokes depression... That's what I've heard... I've never heard of liquid Kratom though....

Pure DXM = Awesome
Otherwise, no thanks. I've done it to many times though.... way to many times... The only time it's worth doing is if I injest over 1000mg of pure dxm. Now, thats the shit.

4th plateau....

Anyways, I've never read that book, and I'm sure it's great, but for those who don't have spare cash lying around.

http://erowid.org/

enjoy.

SolSkye: No, DXM does not make you puke.... nor do you need a sitter. Although one might come in handy, you don't need one. Depending on the dosage.

Theres another active ingrediant in cough syrup that they put in it intentionally, for the soul purpose for druggies like us.

I forget what it's called.... I know it starts with a G... Guifuine or something like that.

Also, I wouldn't recommend doing DXM to much or in large doses unless you get it in a pure form. Theres another ingrediant called acetomephen or something, that's really hard on the liver.

There are ways to extract DXM from cough drops or cough syrup....
If your interested PM me. Or I'll post it here another day or sometime.

Most cough drops don't contain DXM, but some do.... and seeing as how cough drops don't contain any of the other active ingrediants that are harmful, in my opinion cough drops are your best bet for DXM trips....

Or, if your to lazy.... you could buy, unless your to young, then steal some Robotussin Soft gel caps.... I forget the exact name... but they don't contain any of the other active ingrediants that are harmful....

Well anyways, I gotta go.... hope that helped.

Peace!

First, in response to SolSkye...it might be smart to have a sitter the first time you decide to explore the higher plateaus on DXM...but after that...it's not needed. DXM is ALOT of fun to do with very close friends. However the most enlightening experiences that I've had from it have been when I'm alone, in my bedroom, at night. Those are the best trips for me. Just amazing self discovery.

And supremer, some of your information is a little bit off.

Basically...alot of cough syrups/cough gels that contain DXM also contain other ingredients that are toxic in large doses. Which is why the ONLY DXM you should buy needs to have just ONE active ingredient...DXM.

1. If you can't get pure DXM, stick with the cough gels....stay away from cough SYRUPS at all costs, because syrups contain ingredients that will cause vomiting/other gastro-intestinal "disturbances" heh...

Robitussin Soft Cough Gels are the only product I'm aware of that you can buy in your local drug store. Their only active ingredient is DXM. Walgreens also makes a generic, and cheaper brand called WalTussin Soft Cough Gels. It's exactly the same thing as the Robo gels just cheaper, so go with the Walgreens brand if you can.

Both Robitussin and Waltussin contain 15mg of DXM per capsule. If you're like me, and you get sick of swallowing 40-50 capsules over the period of a night...you can order DexAlone from somewhere like drugstore.com. DexAlone contains 30mg of DXM/dose so you only have to take half as many pills.

So again...don't buy anything other than Robitussin Cough Gels, Waltussin Cough Gels, or DexAlone...unles you are positive that what you are buying contains no other active ingredients other than DXM.

That being said...DXM can still make you puke, yes. It made me sick the first few times I tried it...and now I might still get sick on occassion but that's pretty unusual. I am NOT a person who enjoys puking...so obviously the possibility that I might get sick is not enough to stop me from taking this amazing drug. You'll only get sick during the "come up"...and if I do puke...it's just once, quick, and easy. If that makes any sense. Then afterwards...you feel amazing and can lay back and enjoy your trip into other dimensions and worlds I couldn't even begin to describe here.

Man I wish I could get my hands on some pure DXM...I've read the extraction process of trying to get pure DXM from syrups/gels, but I don't really want to go around playing with lighter fluid, so for now...I stick to DexAlone.

If you're going to try something like this...just DON'T BE STUPID. DO YOUR RESEARCH. Read all you can about it. Also...here's another thread about DXM http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/inde...howtopic=28218

LSD dosnt hurt your brain. do some research on erowid.org to find out more. the depresion you may get from xtc is caused at least in part not from problems recieving seratonin but just a perception change from exspieriencing the high, you could say your definition of what felling good is has changed.

and DMT my drug of choice is produced in the pineal gland along with seratonin and melatonin

That is completely untrue. The depression is a result of your brain being extremely depleted of it's serotonin (more or less depending on how much of the drug you take). It takes at least 2 weeks for your brain to get back to normal serotonin levels after an ecstasy trip, so it's natural to feel depression immediately after...and for the two weeks following use.

Chronic depression can occur in those who take the drug too often due to brain damage caused by it's neurotoxic effects if you don't allow your brain to completely replenlish it's serotonin before deciding to take the drug again. Basically...if you don't wait 2 weeks in between taking the drug...you're going to suffer some neurotoxic effects, or rather...brain damage that hurts the serotonin reuptake sites and causes them to downgrade (or shrink) and therefore not be able to bind to and transport the serotonin that is necessary for a healthy individual.

If you don't believe me or disagree or whatever...I suggest checking out the slide show on www.dancesafe.org that explains in detail exactly how the drug affects your brain and why neurotoxicity occurs.

DXM? Hum.

Never herd of it think I'll check it out, sounds very interesting.

As for Cannabis I've smoked way too much during the 11 years I lived in Alaska, it's legal in Ak. I don't smoke any more, but I did have some of the most awesome dreams while smoking at night before sleep.

Otherwise I don't do drugs.

Yea, that's not what I meant when I said that. Sometimes I just word things wrong.

Yea, I agree though, DXM is a dissociative drug. It's best taken alone or with a close friend. Great for self exploration. That's mainly what I used it for. I also used it recreationally, but I don't think that's what it's meant for.

After you puke, I find that it enhances the trip... Also try listening to music. Something trippy, it really helps.

hmmm, interesting I had never herd of it from a depleation stand point but have heard of a hormon receptor tolerance issue.

Yeah, I was wondering what's up with the deletion as well. Must be all you depraved druggies. Fear an Loathing in Dreamviews.

Speaking of seratoning depletion, I had heard that Ozzy Ozbourne once took acid every day for 2 years. Can you tell? lol

when i took acide for three days straight i started with one hit then i took one the next night and found that i had built up a tolerance already i took the two hits the next night and the tolerance was very noticable.
I am because of this exspirence suspect of the idea that ozzy took acid every day for years.

To be honest, I really have no clue about DXM other than what I read about it in the robotrip threads. I heard about the nausea and becoming lucid again in your own vomit or something so I was a bit biased. Other than that, It sounds pretty interesting. If there were a way around the side effects, I'd love to try it one day.

Is there any way that it's obtainable in Japan? Japanese over-the-counter stuff is quite different. If you could look into that for me, or let me know what to look for, that would be wonderful.

One of the perks of living in Japan, is the prescription drug Erimin, otherwise known as, Nimetazepam. It's kind of like a painkiller/sedative but when mixed with alcohol can provide feelings of euphoria. I enjoy this thoroughly since it's legal and prescribed easily. Sometimes, If I take too many, or drink too much while on it, you'll enter what I call, a 'Time Hole'- where the user will be perfectly aware and talking to people one second, and then the next, is like a big skip a few hours later where you passed out, and everyone is now gone or asleep. Having absolutely no memory of what the hell just happened. It feels amazing, though. Like a bear going into hibernation. Hence the name, 'Time Hole'.

Nimetazepam (marketed under brand name Erimin®) is a drug which is a benzodiazepine derivative. It possesses anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, sedative and skeletal muscle relaxant properties. Nimetazepam has a reputation for being particularly subject to abuse, especially by persons addicted to amphetamines or opiates. For this reason it is no longer sold in most western nations, but is still a significant drug of abuse in some South East Asian countries such as Japan and Malaysia. Nimetazepam is sold in a 5mg dose, "Erimin-5" tablets. Nimetazepam is the only benzodiazepine to be subject to legal restrictions in malaysia, and due to its scarcity, many tablets sold on the black market are in fact counterfeits containing other benzodiazepines such as diazepam or nitrazepam instead.

There is so much misinformation in this thread.

First off, I would like to ask where are you guys getting this information? It is way off, and I can't tell if some of you are just making it up as you go or have actually read this somewhare.

Wrong, you couldn't be any farther off. LSD does not cause serotonin depletion, it increases the amoutn of serotonin in the brain.

E does the same as LSD, it increases serotonin. It most certainly does not deplete it.

The depression is a result of your brain being extremely depleted of it's serotonin (more or less depending on how much of the drug you take).
Wrong, at least partially. You are correct that serotonin depletion can cause depression. But XTC increases serotonin not decreases.

Speaking of seratoning depletion, I had heard that Ozzy Ozbourne once took acid every day for 2 years. Can you tell? lol
That would be a waste of acid. LSD has a relativly high tolerance which decreases dramtically after about a week. In order to do it every day, and still get the effects he would at least have to double the dose each time. Very unlikely.

Wow, just wow.

However as the dendrites do branch out they deform and become useless.[/b]
Completly wrong. Where did you even read this?[/b]
Back in he early seventies Harvard University Students conducted an experiment to actually see if LSD was expanding the ability of the mind. At first glance it seemed so.
But this was one of their conclusions.

Can you prove otherwise? Because that was something I read. I realize you certainly can't believe everything you read.
But that is where I read this.
