Ok, call me crazy but I think controlled Schizophrenia can unlock your imagination and set you mentally free.

I'd personally love it if the people I imagined up could totally appear as other people, but sadly, I know it's illogical and thus are never able to visually see them.

Is there a way to unlock this handicap of logic and give yourself hallucinations? I'm sure most people here have a lust for the un-ordinary and escape from reality.

PLEASE don't suggest drugs, I might just do so =P

All I know is that if you don't sleep as much as you should, like me, you get those little HIs a lot. But they are usually sparks or flares that fly across my field of view, or something like that.
Maby you should check out Synthx's tutorial on hallucination induction - or something similar. It should be on the 1st or 2nd page of attaining lucidity.
My opinion is different, I'd be afraid to loose my touch with "reality". Who knows maby you could totaly F**k up your brain and turn as you said Schizophrenic.

These are what Hypnotists call "positive hallucinations". I know one really wierd guy that positively hallucinates a wingman on his shoulder whenever he goes out to meet women. I've personally never done it. i would like to try it tho.

You know, that's a pretty cool idea. Although one would hope that if you do induce positive, controlled schizophrenic hallucinations, you don't lose track and believe them to be real.

I can tell you from experience that sleep deprivation can indeed lead to hallucinations. I now know it is probably HI with eyes wide open, but they seem as real as anything else when they are happening.

A long time ago, in another life and another universe (it seems), I tried holding down a full time job with overtime and working in a band at the same time. The result, before I had a complete physical and mental breakdown and ended up with mono, was very interesting at times - particularly when we were driving home after gigs. I've seen things, man. Some of those things nearly led to accidents while I was trying to avoid hitting them.

Um, hallucination .Unless someone stops me on the street saying, "Woah, did you see that spark fly across your eye.", then I think it's still a sort of hallucination . But yeah, I know it isn't schizophrenia. Besides I can see HI whenever I close my eyes.

I do that all the time imran, it's quite freaky, at least for me. First my eyes started growing bigger and then suddenly my mouth dissapeared. That's when I jump back and go cry in my room.
Anyway, I think it's just the after image while you keep your eyes open.

About the mirror thing-
Once, a few years ago, I wondered what I would look like when I grow up. (I'm 15 now so I guess I got a good idea =P) and I thought that maybe if I looked at myself hard enough I could see it, right?

So I put myself right up to the mirror and just looked. HARD. I got really close and began to stare at my eyes, and suddenly-
WHOA!
I had this reaction as if I had been staring at someone else or something and totally freaked out.
But after a while, I guess I got relaxed and sleepy and began to lose my "logical thinking" or whatever.

That's interesting, I never really thought too much about it afterwards.

Aneeways, yes - controlled hallucinations are the goal as to not get "lost" in your own brain.
But can you see someone who's not there while KNOWING they're not there unless your LDing?

sleep deprivation is the easiest and most natural way to induce hallucinations. but for teenagers and adults, you might have to go a looooong time without sleep. not just a night.

when I was ten years old though, missing a night of sleep did it for me. little kids need more sleep right? I stayed up all night running on sugar at a sleep over. I was soooo sleepy around 11am, but I wanted to last till 12pm. I slumped down on a chair barely able to get back up, I was so dizzy and my head was aching. Soon after I saw a cartoony elephant, like from dumbo when hes drunk!

Ooh, I am so sold xD

Since it's the weekend, I'm sure this is the best time to perform this experiment.

I will not sleep at all this weekend. I'm hoping by Sunday night I'll be crazy xD
Of course, controlled crazy.
I hope.
If not, then that's ok too!

It's not worth it.

You'll probably have to stay up at least 3 days in a row before you start to see anything. I was once awake for 60 hours, and other than briefly seeing things for a split second that weren't there when I turned my head - it was just a bad experience.

After about 30 hours I started to feel very slightly buzzed, with a small headache.
At around 40 hours I kept zoning out, if I was sitting I slip into some pretty vivid day dreams.
At around 60 hours I felt like I was dreaming. The overall feel of reality wasn't there anymore. But I also had a horrible headache. I still wasn't really hallucinating, just seeing things when I quickly turned my head or out of the corner of my eyes.

The next night I slept I actually woke up, but wasn't aware that I had waken up. I actually then was hit by some very vivid hallucinations inside of the room, and almost freaked out, because what was going on actually started to turn into a nightmare (and I never, ever get those). But that also was because I was sleeping in a pitch black environment so I believe the lack of visuals when opening my eyes contributed to that.

Hm...now I'm hesitant =(.

I've always had this really awesome reaction to medicine, like it would ALWAYS cure me somehow.
Maybe if I took an exedrin the headaches would be less thus making this act a little easier?

Funny you brought it up, I've had that same idea a few days ago about inducing a slight schizophrenia on yourself. I think the only way of doing it would be to get a way of naturally stimulate the glands that produce tryptamines in your brain. That way you would be dreaming while awake! It would be really cool, but I think it's probably impossible to do, and if possible, it's probably something not to be played around with... Probably dreams and reality are separate for some reason!

Ooh, you got no clue how much I'd like for them to be put together.

But I suppose it's impossible to talk to someone and see them vividly and as real as day as if you weren't using your imagination at all WHILE knowing they don't exist.

But if I could find a way to stimulate those glands you're talking about...you have no idea how fast I'd take up that offer.

My sollution is to practice meditation to communicate with my higher self, I don't know if you ever tried it.... Sometimes it's pretty dreamlike. It's based on visualization, and what the higher self tells you seems far beyond imagination! The idea is to go to a place called sanctuary and from there, your higher self can show you a lot of different places. If you have good visualization skills it can be really cool!

I agree that sleep deprevation can be effective. Also fasting. Ofcourse meditation. I hope to create a sensory dep tank some day. Combining these things is really effective, when I fast I usually always also try to do some sleep deprevation and meditation on top of it, it deffinetly has powerful results in my experience.

Trust me, there is nothing bad about sleep deprivation, however you will have to stay up for about 3 days, I mean you can't sleep for 3 nights. I did this once and by about 3 nights of not sleeping, at about 4:00 in the afternoon I saw hallucinations out of the corner of my eye, then by about 11:00 I saw full on hallucinations, like people standing in front of me and people whispering in my ears, my mum saying things when she didn't say a thing IRL. It was REALLY cool, I felt pretty bad just from lack of sleep, but it was cool. When I went to bed I slept for 18 hours, haha! Anyway, I can induce hallucinations if I lay down on my bed and totally relax myself, making sure the room is fairly dark. One time I made it look like my bed was flying upwards and I actually felt it and saw all the walls and doors in my room collapse to the ground as I took off. I believe you just need a creative imagination and you need to be able to meditate/relax well.
Salvador Dali 'positively hallucinated' a lot, so that he could see things to paint. They are also called Natural Hallucinations.

Search up on it, it is really fun and doesn't mess with your head, after all, it is NATURAL, trust me you'll be fine.
