Who are the close people we see in our dreams?

I wonder who are these guys? I mean i dreamed of my girlfriend today and how we went to Hawaii :) It was a funny dream. For the people we meet for the first time in our dream is easy to accept that actually meet them. But for our close people is different. Cos we can ask them what they dreamed about and usually they dream other stuffs. Even though and my girlfriend was dreaming about me. But did i actually been with her or is only my mind.
May our dreams be only wandering around some possible realities in the multiverse. And that is why we have the so called premonition dreams. The moments we come across such a one which actually happens after a while. And we recognize it only cos we can recollect our dreams.
