      This scared me...

Alright i have been lucid dreaming for a little over a year now, i am not an active forum'er(word?) but i have a question that i came across last night that im hoping someone can shed some light on.

I was completely lucid and was riding on a school bus talking to a person from my old school. I remembered before i went to bed i saw a picture of my other friend with his girlfriend on myspace labeled "Steven before the cage fight." I thought it strange to think of that at the moment but then it got weirder. Steven was now sitting in the same seat as me on the bus. I noticed him there and said what the hell, "how did u do in your cage fight Steven?" He said he KO'ed him in the 2nd round.

I woke up this morning and got on AIM. Steven was on. I asked him how he did in his cage fight and he said he KO'ed him in the 2nd round. I couldn't believe it, i hardly talk to this kid, he is an amateur cage fighter (2nd fight ever), and i heard nothing about the fight before hand.

Is this proof that there is something more to our subconscious or was this mere coincidence?

Isn't it evident, if many people have such kind of dreams about things
they could not know. We have no other way to proof these things, only
if others have the same experiences. Until now, I never dreamt the numbers
of lottery but if, would it be a proof?

That sort of thing can feel creepy, but this is what is known as "insufficient sample size." If we dream about a thousand different things, and one of them comes true, that's the one we'll remember, and we try to attach significance to it. It isn't really surprising that something will eventually match real life. But it doesn't prove anything.

The same with the lottery. I'm certain that thousands of people use numbers picked from their dreams all the time. Chances are very good that one of these numbers will hit, whether or not there is anything paranormal going on. When it does, that person tells the world "I dreamed the lottery numbers, and it came true!" Proof of paranormal? Not by a long shot.

      No!

I dreamed stories, and in the moment they came to real life, I know exactly
what will happen in the next minutes. Every time when I think about this
it seems so unreal to me, but it really happened to me.

And second: I told people of my dreams and said to them, that I think these
dreams could be something that will happen. And later they are very
surprised when they saw it becoming real.

Now, so much later, I can't proof it to you, but for me and the people I spoke to, it is real.

Why is it so important for us to have evidence?
Would our sight of the reality break down?

I won't comment on whether or not I believe your story; it could be true for all I know. But it doesn't contradict what I said at all. If it happens to you all the time, it is no longer an "insufficient sample size," is it? The same can be held for the lottery player who wins three times in a row with dream numbers. I'd say that was strong evidence (not that we'll ever see such a thing happen).

The OP mentioned one occurance. One sample makes for lousy statistics.

I understand you. But there is one more difference:
While I am dreaming future things, I feel that this dream is a
special dream. Often I can analyze the pictures in the dream and
can say what will happen in reality.
I dreamed a page number of a book and somthing I read in this book. I did not know that I would
read this book some weeks later. And I found the answer to a question
      exactly on this page.
The moment I woke up, I know that this dream was very important.
I spoke to several friends about a sentence and a name I had read in the dream.
Nobody could help me until I read the real book. And there I found
that name in the book on the page I had dreamed.

(Don't tell me something about coincidence. )

ty for the responses i was just curious is all. I didnt mean to stir up controvesary over my last sentance i stated :x.

Yes this was the first time this has happened to me in one of my dreams that i remember

I could have found something last night that has expanded my mind, who knows. I have a very open mind on what could be out there (time travel, shapeshifting, etc.) but am not biased about my open mind at all.

      Ty again for your opinions

I have had enough experiences like this to know there is something more than coincidence behind it.

I don't think there's anything magical about it. Our brains are just crazy good at putting things together and making predictions. Way better than we give them credit for. There are a lot of clues and nuances you might miss when you are cruising around in your busy every day life not paying attention. When you're dreaming, those clues you picked up subconsciously all come together, and weird things start happening.

But who knows? I'm not the kind of a guy who really needs explanations for things. I find it's more fun to believe everything as long as it doesn't hurt anyone.

i have had this sort of thing happen before. It was many years ago before i knew LD existed. I had a girl friend in which i loved very much, her parents hated me and i went to pick her up and her dad and i got into a fight. at around 12:00 A.M. that night she showed up at my house.(she was 17 and i was 18) any way i was dreaming about a sherrif car coming down our driveway, as soon as i seen it in my dream i woke up and ran to look out the window, and there it was coming down the driveway exactly as i had seen it in my dream only seconds before. i told her to run thru the woods and hide. when he got there, of course he was looking for her and was threating me with charges of kidnapping and stagitory rape, luckily they didnt find her after seaching the entire house, and because i predicted the future a few seconds ahead i was(am) a free man.
