      The nature of reality itself.

      I wonder something....

when we dream, there are people and places and thigns much like here... those people, you dont know most of them, they are just faces if you do not attempt to meet them they are just a face in a dream.

The same goes in real life, a person you see in a store or a parkinglot, if you do not meet them they are still just a face.

Each of us says that we are consious and aware, much like when you aske a character in your dream, they will ususaly resond the same wasy as somone here... what the hell are you talking about, how could you be dreaming if I am here?

      My question is this...

Are we merely characters in some ones dream? perhaps thats who god is? the dreamer?

I duno.. just kinda popped into my head. There is no way to prove that we are not the produc of some dreamers dream, but there is no way to prove it the other way either.

Actually,I thought about this before aswell, but I kinda dropped that tought cuz well,I dont think its very likely, then again mabey it is.But if thats true, ignorance is bliss because Im having a good time being a dream character then hehe, better not think about that to much, makes you doubt you exist for a purpose, for your own one

If I were a dream charachter or not, I am self aware and exist. As for my purpose...What if I am here to show the dreamer something, or to teach the dreamer something?

      interesting, but not probable.

      why

      You dream about people right?
you ever talk to them? seems like they are their own individual, and they say it so most will say no your not dreaming, how could you be? I am awake... or much rarer, they say... Yeh I know we are dreaming, and do something off the wall... But most of them seem self aware right?

Just like I would seem to be self aware, and yes I think we are dreaming

So what if we are just dreams ourselves?

Ask a person in your dreams if they dream... They say yeah they dream... or rarer they say they dont dream at all or they dont remember it....

      Just like here.....

crap im walking into the deep end of the pool ugh n/m hehe I need to get some sleep Yep its time for this night shifter to pass the heck out...

      ZONK!!!.....

btw zonk is the sound i make when i fall asleep hardcore.

Any of you ever buy and play with the program called Creatures?

Maybe we are all just Norns or Grendles in some great cosmic Creatures game!

I like the tought, Seri, I even think about a lot of far out things too...
      Why can't people make theirself?

      [quote] intereesting, but not probable.
      why
That's exactly how I think. Perhaps I'm only fooling myself into believing these things exist or are even possible...but even if that was the case, I still couldn't help but question it all...Why can't life be whatever we imagine?..Why can't we individually fly through space as if riding our bike to a friend's house down the road?..Why are we bestowed with the capacity fo give a shit, only to be dissatisfied, and how can we possibly be the only beings capable of this?
It's all what has been widely accepted as normal. But where along the line was everything distinguished? Who did it? I think the more advanced we become the more we are able to discover, and the more we prove ourselves wrong...
I just refuse to accept that the broken record that is here everyday is all there is...that what I see in reflection day by day isn't all there is, and I will continue to experience more.

So maybe we aren't realizing our full potential because we are a product of another's dream. The products of our dreams are even less self-aware...but the ultimate dreamer is producing all of us indirectly and is fully aware.

The nature of reality is either 1) completely boring 2) much weirder than anything you could imagine 3) both.

the nature of reality is that this all is much like a dream, only more vivid, and concrete than something we can imagine...but not too vivid or concrete for God...say that we are in a dream, and God is the dreamer is just one way of putting it...at least this is my reality...yours may be different

      EXACTLY!

I experience different rules and stuff in different dreams, this place just has some rigid rules and a very strong sense of continuity and stability.

Other than that its not much different!

Like Seekers "Prove to me you exist" thread its not an easy thing to do, the only thing we are totaly positive exists is ourselves, its been beaten into our brains since we were born that This is real and that yes we are all here because we can see feel touch and scientificaly measure each other.

If you ve the focus and lucidity you can do so in a dream as well.

The only thing that is real is "Now"

wootah! ;p ...tho you do have to remember the fact that each of our own seperate realities may be different...to most people, theres alot of stuff thats real aside jus the 'now' and the 'me' because that is their perception...the correct way to phrase it would be 'the only thing i can prove to be true, or to exist, is the 'now' and the 'me'' ...thats a correct statement irregardless (hehe fun made up word) of each of our seperate perceptions of reality

your going into this reality might be a dream thing too much the basic fact is that some kind of conciousness is behind all this everythings all well thought out i find if you just think of that and flick through all the references youve heard and seen in life like whats being talked about here you see the bigger picture, not that the picture is clear but you see that you dont know enough to wonder about things like that there just possibilities or part of the bigger picture.
and questions like is there such a thing as reaity are just derived from ignorant peoples way of thinking through the ages.
reality is as much reality as a video game is its just that were in it and cant see past it

"I had a friend once who told me that the worst mistake anyone can make is to think you are actually alive, when you're really asleep in life's waiting room". -Waking Life-

That statement really hit me hard when I first heard it and I think it can be applied to what you guys are talking about here. I mean, how do we know that this is real, or that this is all there is. What if all of what we are experiencing here is just some prelude to what life actually is. Maybe this existance is atest to see if we will be able to handle the "real life".

I was talking to my grandma a few months ago and she was telling me about when her brother practically died in her arms. He was 78 and lived a good life. When he was on his deathbed my grandma asked him if he was afraid to die. He replied "No not at all, I can't wait to see what happens next".
"The key is to combine your waking, rational abilities with the infinite possibilities of your dreams. Because if you can do that, you can do anything".
