Well, I put that avatar because I liked the pic. Nothing else... and about the copyright infringement, give me a break man, its not like I'm making any money out of it...

Well, it's not like anyone here is going to rat you out to Castaneda's publishers or anything.
But it's too bad that that's all you pulled the pic for. I think there's a lot you could get from Castaneda's or Don Miguel Ruiz's work.
"New Age mumbo jumbo" aside, the Toltec tradition is anything BUT new. It is, in fact, one of the oldest Philosophies in this hemisphere. And since we're in a thread discussing the end of the Mayan Long Count, Toltec philosophy would be a good place to start learning. :D
Well I certainly didn't want to include Toltec tradition (DJ's lineage) in new-age mumgo-jumbo. I mean who am I to do it right?
When I said 'new age mumbo jumbo' I was referring to the 'new-age' attitude many people have, which most of the times have nothing to do with the true knowledge :)
An ad hominem really is where you just attack a person, and not the argument.
And while that's all well and good, it's not to have people just come in here and call us a bunch of irrational idiots, or whatever. If you want to learn more about the topic, or want to know why we believe this, that's fine, just ask. But coming in here and telling us "I don't believe this, and it's stupid." doesn't solve anything.
It's cool, just try to remember that questions and discussion is OK in this forum, but posting randomly that it's ridiculous and bullshit doesn't get anything done.
If we're talking about the Mayan calendar here then wouldnt the end of hte world come at the end of the mayan calendar or around then? Why would the end of the world come exactly at the end of the christian calendar which we know for all intesive purpouses is flawed because it is not nearly as accurate as the Mayan one.
I think you're missing some things. First of all, the Mayan Calendar isn't more accurate, it's just that it is AS accurate as our modern calendars but was created thousands of years before Galileo told the Church that the Sun was the center of the solar system.
Secondly, the Mayan Caledar isn't just one cycle like ours, its an interconnected set of cycles that repeat and when taken in context of one another show several systems - just one of which being the solar year.
Next, the end of the modern calendar - not the "Christian" calendar as EVERYONE uses it now, not just Christians - is December 31st. NOT December 21st. December 21st is the Winter Solstice.
For a seasonal cycle like the Mayans used, ending what is called their "long count" on the Winter Solstice makes perfect sense. The fact that it falls on what we call December 21st is irrelevent.
This may be kinda far off the topic but this post caught my attention. As we all know we live in the Milky Way galaxy which has a supermassive central black hole (Saggitarious A*) in which everything revolves around. This black hole spins so fast that there is a disk about 100,000 light years wide protruding from it called the spheroid halo where there are dead stars, asteroids, and more. Earth is about 26000 light years from the center I think.
When is Earth due to pass through this? Will Earth be possibly destroyed instantly by debris traveling at almost the speed of light or will it throw of the gravitational pulls of our solar system or Earth itself?
If anyone knows the answer to this it would be great. I know that none of you are astrophysicits probably but any clue would be nice. I have been wondering this for a while and there seems to be no real dead answer to when the Earth is supposed to pass through the spheroid halo that I could find googling.
i did a small project about the art of egyptians and what-not and was a close believer of this theory (i had already read about the pyramid beliefs previously). there are plenty of examples in paintings and hieroglyphs depicting these "aliens". whether it is true or not i am uncertain, but the concept had me hooked for a while! my tutor enjoyed reading something a little different for once, anyway. it's probably worth googling the topic if you have an interest... i did look at it a few years a go though.Quote:
So maybe, there were aliens here that created objects like the pyramids or the Sphinx. It could have also been an advanced civilization that has now been wiped out.
that time traveling theory is also very fascinating.
Psst... Hey guys...
*points to the much more detailed and well-laid out 2012 thread in extended discussion*
Read 'The Law of One': A book apparently comprised of a conversation with a universial consciousness entity known as Ra. On this date, mankind shall allegedly transcend to a higher density of life. As of now, we dwell in 3rd density, but in 2012 this density increases to the 4th.
The Law of One - The Ra Material
It is interesting to say the least.
Your link links to something weird :S.
But i like that idea. Does it mean that we all live in the 3rd demension, but after 2012 Ra explains we will be pulled into the 4th? What an epic thing that would be.
From what I've read, I think its the evolution of our conciousness/DNA.
2012... The world will be cast in a shadow, as we enter into a new era of time. Everything will slow down, we will not notice the change but our minds will. We will all become smarter, better thought processors... and then it comes. The attack will arise, and all but one will be blown to nothing. The one though, will prevail and stop the attack. I am not the one, i will not tell who is, you can find out for yourself.
I don't know what's going to happen in 2012...
I have, however, noticed something interesting. There has been a hell of a lot of movies and video games about some kind of apocalypse, and the end date for many of them is 2012.
Maybe some hidden knowledge in these storyteller's unconscious is at work here... or maybe they have heard about the 2012 theories, and decided it would be neat to have it as an end date.
But if the choosing of this date is due to some unconscious attraction, then, in my mind, it means this year has some kind of impact on the collective unconscious of our race, and if thats the case, then 2012 is probably an important date.
uhm...I heard about that on the TV some days ago. I know this is beyond dreaming but, seriously I think nothing would happen. They say it would be the end of the world, no? It was the same for the yaer 2000...and as far as I know, we're still alive.
Edit: Excuse me for being sceptical. (i'm not like that usually) It was just my opinion.
Lot's of believers will be embarrased.
65 million years ago, there was a species of dinosaur that evolved with opposable thumbs and advanced brains. They created a highly advanced civilization and began looking to space for colonization efforts. They're first attempt at a starship was a massive artificial moon that hung in the sky. Then they built a second, and a third. The third malfunctioned, and plumetted towards the earth, raising a dust cloud that blotted out the sun and plunged our world into an ice age. Those who were survivors aboard this second starship left to find a new system to rebuild their species, leaving the first starship behind to keep an eye on earth, and to terraform it so that it would be suitable for their kind once more.
After genetically engineering humans into existence, they would come down from this starship periodically to teach us the ways of building, and to advance our technology faster than would be the natural course. Their interractions with the Mayans is when the date was left behind as to when the rest would return to reclaim earth. In the meantime, with a lack of innovation in the power industry, we sit in the middle of a forced global warming stage to heat the planet for out cold blooded friends, all the while occasionaly looking up to the sky, completely oblivious of the fact that the local starship they've been using the entire time is the same object we coined the term "The Moon" for.
That could make one hell of a fiction novel.... What do you think?
Personally I don't believe anything will happen. People have been saying the world is going to end basically since the beginning of the world, and they will continue to do so. I don't think that just because their calendar ends on that date means anything special will happen. But if by some chance it does, oh well. We are not in control of it, so we might as well just not worry.
I read we'll become biologically immortal, we'll live outside our bodies.....there's so many theories.
I recently bought the book "The Orion Prophecy", and it has opened up my eyes in alot of ways.
If you read the book, you will understand how the mayans did their calcuations, but i wont get into it because i dont want to type a story in a forum... sorry, just read the book.
But what it says will happen is the poles will shift and the world will start to get alot of earthquakes and a huge tidal wave will cover the planet. The lost city of "Atlantis" which has been found under the south pole ice caps, will be revealed and life will die out, except for the people of course who can live through it.
I dont know, its kind of far fetched. I bought Robert Bruces "Mastering Astral Projection" and i saw the orion book also on sale, so i bought it for a fun read. It could all be another big hoax, but i guess no one will know until the day comes.
I really like these ideas of “Ra” and the unity of one, and all. Does anyone have anymore information on these ideas besides this website?
what if sice their sophisticated calendars have been flawless so far, they could not accuratly mark any further so they just stopped?
The reason they supposedly "stopped" was that they ended the calendars on the next interval on which the sun was going to have another shift. According to the mayans, Atlantis was shipped down to the south and was ice covered. This was due to the sun distaster. They knew when this happened, and predicted the next one to land on Dec of 2012.
Atleast, thats what the book says.
