      Dejavu

      I get deja vu... ALOT

I'll experience something and say didn't that just happen not too long ago and i get a weird face from people like i'm crazy.

But i realize that everything i've seen has been from me dreaming but i never realize it until the event occurs.

has this happened to anyone? is there a way i can control this, like any types of exercises? It would be nice if i can control this somehow.

If there is a way to practice or control it, I'd love to hear about it.

Haven't had Deja Vu in awhile, but the last few time it's happend, I've thought to myself "I've dreamed this before" instead of the usual "This has happened before"

I believe dreaming to be the cause of Deja Vu, and would live to find something to indicate that this is indeed the case. So far all I have is several posts like your, but it's encouraging.

it's just so weird when it happens it sends chills down my spine. sometimes it's the words someone speaks, or certain objects that do certian actions or the way people move or just anything.

Hmmm i dont think theres a way you can control it mostly just because of the things i know (or think iknow) about it which are:
Deja Vu ("already seen" in French): Basically it's when your mind "thinks" it recognizes something, or has seen something before. it does this (according to what ive heard i dunno if this is true) because the human mind is constantly looking for things that it recognizes and sometimes there are things in the world that trigger a somewhat "false" recognition of an event/thing/place/etc.
but im 16 so hey thats just my knowledge of it

I get deja vu a lot. Often it's tiny little thing, small details I recall. I had one the other day that felt like a Deja Vu of a previous deja vu I'd had, which was rather odd.

i've had a cross between precognation and deja vu. it gave me an instint dream recall to a dream i had around 4 years before the deja vu. it was just a moment sitting at a desk at school but .....im confused (mental block)

This occurs to me all the time actually, it would be cool to control it though. One time I finished my brother's sentence while he was speaking before him even saying it! It's complicated because in the dream I was dreaming that I had a deja vu of me completing my brother's sentence.

Deja vu is supposed to be due to the way that the mind tries to set down memory. Generally the mind remembers things that occur more than once, more than things that happen one single time. For example...do a math problem, and 3 weeks late you wont remember, do 15 math problems and you have more chance of remembering how to do it.

Anyway, deja vu is when your mind tries to set a single thing down as something that happens more than once so that you can remember.

      Well....

I had a period of many months where I would have a da ja vu once a day and my theory is kinda wack but it is caused by the mindset you are in during the experience and the reflection into the past simutaniously kind of a catch22 where to see the future you have to see the future and send the information back to the past when your mind is open to recieving the information. One really awesome event was a da ja vu that lasted 30 seconds it was long enough that I could "predict" the events that followed. the reflection theory was created when I predicted the deaths of to people in 1 week my only two wide awake da ja vu's the very last moment I saw them I had the thought of what was to come... the moment I reflected apon was the last moment I saw them.

Dejavu seems to be very vivid for me when it happens, and sometimes it leads me onto similar brain puzzles to work out. For example, sometimes after Dejavu I get fake Dejavu.

It's the exact same thing with me. Cool, no?

I hate how some disregard it as "misfiring of neurons" bull. Now, I'm not going to deny that it could be applied to literally just "feelings" and nothing more. But....

There's "feelings" that people can get which I can easily see being attributed to neurons misfiring, and then there are more than feelings when you have a dream where later on you experience down to each and every word.

I still get it once or twice a month, lasts for about 10 seconds or so. I believe its just a dream about a future event of your own and your mind automatically forgets it and stores it in the subconscious until the time comes. Could feel like weeks since you been at a certain place or event or even years.

Whenever I get de ja vu's I always asume the most exciting explanation of why a de ja vu happens. I thought it was because someone like my ancestor experienced the same thing. but then I found out it was just your brain lagging Wow, joykill.

      this qualifies as an explanation?

there can be an infinite number of explanation, but you chose to accept that one and close off everything else D:, yes you are a joy kill

i thought existence was a big deal but then found out it was just my brain creating this place, omg such a joykill o.O

whats this? brain m8, what about that? oh its the brain, yes..we can explain everything, listen to us!,

I've had that sometimes aswell, that you feel as if you've seen the thing before, or that you've dreamt it.

Quite often out of those times though, eventually I'll remember where or when i actually saw it.. To me, the most agreeable explanation of the deja vu phenomena is a kind of "half memory".. that it is indeed déja vu (french: already seen), but our memory of it is very faint.. so we get the inkling of a feeling that the situation has already happened.

perhaps not though, perhaps there is some other explanation, a deeper one.. in which case the psychological explanation involving memories is just the effect not the cause of deja vu's..

hope i made atleast some sense...

The only way you can control this is to remember all your dreams in all the details..

People claim its brain lagging, but I think what you say is true, that its actually your dream you recall. Memory recall happens by association, its not until you meet someone or talk about something thats associated with your dream that the dream will be remembered, and it's precisly when you have a dejavu that almost all that associations are met and therefor, if you had a dream of that event, it will almost certainly be recalled. So it is pretty obvious no matter how you look at it, that the most logically explanation for dejavus are forgotten dreams.

You dream about your daily life and possible events that might occur, so the possibility of dreaming about a possible event in your life is there. Therefor, it is almost certain that dejavus will occur because of the memory recall assocation process.

I've had dejavus once in a while like everyone else I think.. and when I do have them, it happens alot that I know the conversation but I don't know the words. This is very much like dreams..

dejavu in real life from previous dreams is not just your brain 'lagging'. i will tell you a little true story that happened to me to make me realize what it really is with me, i don't know about other people.
One night i had this non lucid dream where i was a private investigator and i was spying on these drug runners for this woman who had suspected her husband of dealing.i was out side this big brick building watching them, all of a sudden i saw the exchange and went to arrest them .they ran into the building and up two flights of stairs into this big cafeteria place.one side had big windows with pinetrees in front of them.they were racing past the tables and chairs toward a window. they broke it with one of the taller chairs and jumped out. by the time i got to the window they were getting into a black car.i pulled my gun and shot but they drove off...there is more to the chase but the important part was the room.about a year later my seventh grade class went on a field trip to albany, new york.for breakfast we went to the college campus cafeteria.we went into one of many brick buildings, climbed stairs and entered the cafeteria.i was leading my group and stopped dead as dejavu rushed over me.my classmates protested my halt and i walked forward in wonder.it was the same room with every exact detail as in my dream, the huge pine covered windows ,the taller tables and chairs by the windows.we had an all you can eat buffet for breakfast in the room.i told one of my friends i had dreamt of the room but i don't think she believed me. that was one of the most mind blowing expiriences i have ever had.i have also connected other deja vu since to previous dreams of the events. i am no wack job crazy medium trying to scam you.i just want to clear some things up about dream deja vu.

I still have my own theories about deja vu and I havent really accepted this explanation. I still belive its because someone in your past experienced something similiar.

      Watch the triple post, yo.

I don't get it that often anymore, I used to, but not recently. How long does the Deva Vu feeling last for you guys? For me it's like 1-3 seconds, maybe up to 5.
