My partner at the time had been experiencing sleep paralysis for years, and it had happened a few times while we were together.
We broke up but remained living together (long story..)
She went on a business trip, and so I was sleeping in our old bed because it was more comfortable.
I was worried that night that I wasn't going to get up on time to get to work, so I set the alarm.
Well around 3 or 4 AM I had some intense sleep paralysis, I would half wake, and freak out thinking I was going to be late for work, but I could not wake myself all the way, and I kept trying to talk but it just came out in slurring nonsense. I kept thinking it was way later than it really was, and I didn't believe the time on the clock.
I also could not sit all the way up, I had the feeling of something holding me to the bed, almost like I was tied to the bed, and also something was pressing down on my chest, and my whole body felt very very heavy, especially my legs. I was severely panicked, my mind was racing, but every thought was all jumbled and I couldn't have a complete thought. My heart was beating hard in my chest. It was like having a panic attack, but being half asleep.
Come to find out, she had the exact same thing happening to her, at the exact same time, 2,500 miles away.
When I found out, it didn't shock or surprise me in the least, this kind of thing tends to run in the family.
More on that in another thread.
