Synchronicity a function of the subconscious?
Little background before I show my ideas:
Three or four years back, I was more interested in parapsychological phenomena than I am now. I researched all kinds of things, from OOBEs to telekinesis. Eventually, I would stumble onto a tutorial for communicating with the subconscious mind(the link to which I cannot locate). I found this interesting, but sadly did not practice it seriously.
Flash forward to about two years ago. I receive a copy of the book The Secret, which discusses synchronicity. For the uninitiated, synchronicity is a theory that completely believing an event will occur will make it happen.
Flash forward to about two or three weeks ago. I am browsing DV and come to this thread: http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=57283 . On page 3, The Cusp briefly discusses synchronicity and how it relates to dream control. Synchronicity moves again to the front of my mind. While on the initial rush of excitement, I try to cause an extremely unusual thing to happen. It fails miserably. Sure, it was bad, but I wasn't going to give up that easily. I begin using a technique similar to how Jung used unsent letters to receive letters from others, to little success.
Now, just last week I read this topic: http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=64989 . Subconscious conversations: check.
Over the past week, I named my subconscious and started having one sided conversations (I am not very good at listening). I am almost giving my subconscious pep-talks; I try to get him/her excited to work together with me to do things such as improving memory, concentration, etc.
This morning, something clicked in my head. The biggest requirement to make synchronicity work is belief. I realize that I was trying something too hard to start with. What next? I ask my subconscious for a second chance.
To summarize my little speech, I asked my subconscious to send me some kind of sign, to use synchronicity to prove that synchronicity, subconscious communication, all of it, was in fact real.
And during my lunch break, I saw it. Not only saw something that was directly related to the content of all my letters, but also heard an announcement about it shouted into my ears from five feet away.
Completely blown out of the water, I spent about ten minutes doing various RCs to make sure I wasn't dreaming. I wasn't. I am still somewhat amazed by this.
I got to thinking about this whole day. If you have to truly believe something will happen to make it occur, and your subconscious is as much a part of you as your conscious mind is, then isn't belief and ultimately synchronicity ultimately made possible by your subconscious?
You can easily manipulate your conscious mind by simply thinking a different thought. True belief in something requires both conscious and subconscious to agree. Synchronicity requires true belief. Couldn't we then achieve greater synchronicity by enlisting the aid of the part of our mind we don't usually consider? And for that fact, could synchronicity be the driving force behind interacting with the subconscious? I theorize this: synchronicity is the result of working with your entire self.
