I don't want to lose karma points so I'm asking if it does.
Who knows... probably not.
This is a question I've asked myself as well. Except more along the lines of "does doing bad things to dream characters have a negative effect on your mental state?" I don't imagine it does, as if one already has the propensity to hurt dream characters then one would probably not get any worse by doing so. As far as karma is concerned, if the people are simply manifestations of your subconscious then you wouldn't really be doing anything to hurt your karma. I'm interested to hear other people's opinions.
Karma points..
Is a new way of describing the system :P
What you're basically asking is;
I want to kill someone in my mind, is this wrong?
Think that through for a second.
It basically comes down to whether there's a cosmic/karma difference between wanting to do something and actually doing it (of course there is); but the real question is whether wanting to do something is "worse" than not wanting to do it.
It's a very hard question to answer; perhaps even impossible; because It could be argued that someone who didn't do it didn't really want to!
It really comes down to what you think.
For what my opinion's worth I don't really think it does. But I can see the difference between wanting to do something, and not even having ever though of it. But whether cosmic beings/the universe gives a damn I really can't tell you.
Don't worry about it. Don't think about it. It's not worth thinking about.
Edit: You were concerned about it.. that's good.
(Tell me if the message got completely lost in there because I'm tired and sometimes a bit wordy)
P.S - Don't ever tell/ask anyone in real life (internet doesn't count :))
Triple edit: I'm basically saying what the others are saying; probably not, but how the hell would I know?
Assuming Karma is real, then i doubt it. If anything you are proving to yourself what you would do if there were no rules. If there was no rules we would all be savages, and LD's prove it. Kill just because you can...same with video games, kill just because you can. The only thing keeping us from that spot is rules.
When I first read this thread, uTklw, I just assumed you meant killing innocent dream people for pleasure (and maybe you do which is fine, not here to judge), but looking at it again I realize you did not specify. If you are killing people who are trying to kill you, for example becoming lucid during a nightmare, I'd consider it a healthy exercise as these characters probably represent something your subconscious is struggling with. I've had considerably less nightmares since I've learned to LD.
