well if you're not careful you might die. OBEs are often part of the near-death experience.

Okay, when someone dies, their soul leaves their body completely. But when you're in the state of an astral projection or OBE, your soul doesn't leave your body completely. I don't know if this is true or not but I heard that if you travel too far from your body, your soul will lose connection and you will die.
Lolz this posts replies made me laugh so hard! No, under no circumstances can you lose connection. There is an astral cord that is usually seen "sometimes its not" and it can be followed back. In some cases where people have left their bodies on earth and went to other galaxies and traveled 1000s of lightyears then yes the astral cord is stretched so thin that it Might be possible to get lost. Though I'm almost certain you still wouldn't die. You would just sit there like normal, someone would find you, may or may not be able to wake you, then you'd be put on life support.
I'd hate the fact that someone could die in an OBE, no one would want to do them anymore.
As for baddies hurting you? Well if you were on the lowest plane where there are things that would try to hurt you. Chances are that since you have gone this far and achieved AP in the first place you are more then able to defend yourself if you met them in the Astral Plane. As for you body and things getting into it? No they may not enter without your explicit permission.
There are different ways to look at it though via religous way vs Astral planes n what not. From what I have read from Astral planes experts "Not Me!" I have never come across one that said anything but the following "Astral Projecting is absalutly 100% safe!" Btw I never even consider anyone on the internet experts :) Only people that have had the time, resources, knowledge, and know how to write a very decent book.
As for religous views, well your guess is as good as mine... I know christians always say that demons may not enter your body under any circumstances unless you give them permission. Although I'm not so sure thats entirly true because why would anyone get possessed then:)
just to clarify, it is 100% impossible to die in an OBE. If worst comes to worst youll pop back into your body.
