      Meditation- Intense "Vibrating"

(This may be long, so if you want to skip the introduction, read what's in blue.)

I've had this happen before, actually. And I've gotten some "realistic" answers, but I got the urge to ask this forum instead, for once. Simply for a different view, if nothing else.

'kay, so, first off: I'm very skeptical of the existence of anything supernatural. For example, I don't believe in god, or the devil(nor anything even close to what humans may have come to describing-- maybe there's something, but no person has, or likely ever will, figure it out. ) Apart from that, I don't really believe in things like Astral Projection or Witchcraft, etc, but I'd really like to... So, I try to keep an open mind.

Anyway, regardless of anything related to the supernatural, I enjoy meditating. It's relaxing, and I think I occasionally slip into the begining of a WILD, lots of flashy colors and images sometimes. When I was 12, I was REALLY into the AP and Psychic stuff, and meditated while concentrating on my "third eye." And that habit has remained in my meditation "technique."

Yesterday I was meditating, and pulled my focus from my "third eye" and into the center of my head, as it seemed (before this there was a pulsing repeating flash of blue light, circular, and then seeming to fade away in the distance.). After this I suddenly became aware of what, for a lack of other word, would be my "astral body" perhaps.

After a few seconds of focusing on this spot, my entire astral body started to convulse almost. It felt like my entire conscious self was turning/pivoting left and right. Fairly fast, too. Then it faded away.

So, was this the start of an Out of Body Experience/Astral Projection, or something else?

Trying to look at this with a scientific view (since you don't really believe in stuff like this) do you think that maybe you dreamt it? Whether you did or didn't, try and do it again. Take note of anything specific you did prior to meditating such as what you ate, or maybe you did something you normally wouldn't do, etc. Basically you want to get reproducible results. From there, try and figure out what it is you originally expirienced.

I highly, highly doubt it. I'm fairly positive that I wasn't asleep. I was meditating. not sleeping. Nor trying to sleep, nor was I tired. Besides, I've done this before. It has happened before. Similar circumstance. I can reproduce it occasionally, but it never last for very long.

Also, I specifically asked here to get something other that realistic replies. I'm curious of what else it may be on another level, as it were.

      Thanks for the replies, though.

It could have been the realization of your soul; you apparently can do that with meditation.

I think it's not so much what you call it, as it is what you experience. You could call it a vibrating astral body, or a halluciantion, dream, or whatever else. The thing I'm getting at is, your mind will never grasp it anyway. Then again, the mind (at least mine) is quite obsessed with "figuring things out". So now it's angry. Hehe.

Get out of your head, into your heart.

Yes. Meditating, engery focus/circulation are an effective method for APing. I have also read that the method of moving your point of conciousness around is very effective.

The strong vibrations you felt tend to get more intense if you remain ambivient to them - then once they seem so strong that they cant possibly get any stronger then you need to will yourself out your body. Just mentally say something like "I will now leave my body"? You will then feel an indescribable sensation of "peeling out" or seperation. With me it feels as though Im being dragged backwards out of my head, other times I just float away. I am often blind at first (as are many others) so then use your will again and mentally say "sight now" or "clarity now". Then off you go......

I'd like to pipe in that this intense vibration happens to me quite often when meditating.
This was that cult, and the prisoners said it had always existed and always would exist, hidden in distant wastes and dark places all over the world until the time when the great priest Cthulhu, from his dark house in the mighty city of R'lyeh under the waters, should rise and bring the earth again beneath his sway.

sounds like sleep paralysis, and what you are feeling is the transition between the body and mind.

That's the kinda answer I was looking for. Thanks, man.

Also interesting coincidence(or perhaps not?) today. After at least two years of no attempts, word of, or thought about astral projection/OOBEs until yesterday, my English Prof. just happened to mention it today. Interesting.

What did he say about it? (I'm inclined to believe it was a beginning to an astral. Find some techniques to "get out" of your own body to use next time it happens.)

first off me and you have very similar beliefs it appears when it comes to the supernatural, i dunno about you but i get these sensations and colors you're talking about whenever i attempt a WILD. it feels like my whole body is vibrating really hard and i see kalidiscopic colors with blinking lights that match the frequency of the vibration, and when i focus really hard on my 3rd eye region it gets more and more intese, to where it feels like im being throw around in my bed with such intense sensaions you'd figure i'd have completed a WILD but all this ussually happens before i even get to SP.

Lysergic Lucidity, that is a hallucination that comes hand in hand with Sleep Paralysis. That is why you feel it when you attempt to WILD, as it is a signal that your body is asleep but your mind remains awake.
