A while back, I had a nightmare I rode a roller coaster name The Hornet, but i was not sucurely fastened, so, I had to hold on for dear life! The roller coaster track was red, green, and blue. Strangely enough.... my mother had an identicle dream that night!!! any ideas on how this was possible?!?

If you could answer these questions, would help establish what happened.
Lots of people will try and tell you it's something paranormal... But i'm sure you are a sensible kind of person and would want to rule out the obvious normal explanations first. Chances are, being related and being influenced by simiar events in your lives, that sooner or later you will have similar dreams. Especially if you live in the same house.
The connection a mother has with her children?
Has your life with her been a rollercoaster? Were you two together the day before?
Most dreams seem to be symbolism of your life, so more details about the day before the dream would help.
