Waking up in strange position after nightmares

I've had 2 nightmares this week about dead people... The first time I woak up on my back with my feet crossed and my arms crossed behind my head. I was more terrified than I've ever been after a scary dream. It took me maybe an hour to fall back to sleep.

Then a few nights later, last night, I woak up after a nightmare about dead people AGAIN on my back with my arms crossed behind my head, but this time my hands were gripping the poles of my headboard. I felt that overwhelming fear again and had to turn on the light to fall asleep again.

I've never woaken up like this before these experiences.

Can anyone say why they think I wake up in this position after I have these nightmares?

I guess that it is a force outside of myself doing this to me. Which FREAKS ME OUT.

This is not a beyond dreaming subject...

This seems like normal movement while asleep. I've woken up in the same position before, but not after a nightmare. I'm sure the hands holding on to the headboard was because you were afraid. This is completely normal, and not something abnormal.
      Bollocks.

Dont freak. Nothing out there forces you in certain positions. Like said, it's a natural way of the body to move itself into a more defensive/comforting position during a time of stress.

The positioning is one thing, but the dreams about dead people, I agree. I don't really care if we are seeing the same kind of concept of dead people or not, it is still freakin nutts how our minds can come up with something so horrid. I honestly really can't stand them. the 2-3 new ones weren't as bad as the first 2 I had, mainly because the first 2 were the worst I ever had, especially the 2nd, but they are still too much. So dude I can relate.

As for the positioning, I think thats normal. I can't count how many times I fought in my sleep and ramed my fist or foot into something. LOL. I'm not sure about how the body is still moviing while asleep so I wont give any reasons, but regardless, for some if none at all, one way or another, the body will react to certain things.

Oh, thank God its normal. I sometimes wake up in a strange position too. I know I sleep sideways with my legs thrown across the bed, but sometimes when I wake up I'll be lying on my back in a perfect position with my feet crossed too. Its so weird.

Some people are more restless sleepers than others, and end up moving about in bed. I often go to sleep on my side only to wake up face down with my arms above my head without circulation.

During a nightmare especially your level of conciousness can start to peak as it does in a lucid, likely leading to you moving around in bed as you get close to waking up. In a fearful state the body will also move and get in a more comfortable position to try and relax, it's perfectly normal!
