The single most important piece of advice you can receive:
Set your intention, then practice, practice, practice. Don't let yourself get frustrated, because it will take a while. Don't let yourself get lazy, because it will take even longer. It's like learning any other skill, all it takes is time, patience, and persistence.
Now, here are some things that you can do to prepare yourself:
- Read. Research online, buy some books (check out www.astraldynamics.com, this website is good also). The more information you gather, the more confident you will become.
- Meditate. 20 minutes upon waking, 20 minutes before sleeping. If you have never meditated, Bing the topic and learn how. I recomend Ajna/3rd Eye Meditation, where you focus your attention on the level of your eyebrows, then into the center of your brain. Check the thread on this page called "5000 year old WILD technique"
Lastly, some of the more technical aspects of Astral Projecting:
- It's easiest to do when you wake up in the middle of the night after sleeping for 5 hours. Fall asleep at midnight? Set an alarm for 5 AM.
- After you wake up, you can either walk around to gain some consciousness back, or you can just try right there. It's different for everyone.
- Lay down and RELAX. Bend all of your intention into feeling relaxed. Start in your digits, move to your limbs, and into your core. DO NOT MOVE A MUSCLE.
- Eventualy, if you're doing it right, you should feel your body vibrate, and you will be detached from your limbs. The head is the last thing to leave, as it is hardest to keep your face completely relaxed.
I am not very good at it -- I've only done it a couple of times, but i dont practice enough. You just have to have firm resolve that you'll do it, and maintain a sense of detachment from your body and from the results. I'm probably not the best person to explain the details of Astral Projection, but my first piece of advice is still the best you'll get.
