I woke up with something sitting on me?

I woke up this morning without opening my eyes,
and I was laying on my back with my knees bent and my feet flat on the bed.

This is a very weird position for me to wake up in, because I usually sleep on one side or the other,
and even if I have ever woken up on my back, it certainly wasn't with my legs bent and my knees up.

Anyway,
I was trying to remember my dreams and couldn't.

Then, while my head was turned toward my left side I opened my eyes.

And I was startled and actually jumped,
because out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw some kind of animal sitting on my chest looking at me,
with it's face literally inches from my face.

My first thought was that it was a cat,
but immediately afterward because it invoked such a strong fear reaction in me I started to imagine that it had gigantic saucer eyes and was somehow something really creepy,
and maybe it was an owl,
or just some generic dream monster.

I didn't feel it sitting on me, and didn't even see it clearly, but I don't remember ever waking up and feeling like I saw something like that.

Totally creepy.

Anyway, does anyone have any experience with anything like this?

Usually things like that happen during sleep paralysis... but wow that sounds scary man. And yea a lot of people experience that, the trick is to just stay calm and know that nothing can harm you, because it's all in your mind.

i actually have dreams of me waking up and people being next to me that have died but never a googley eyed animal

henry fuseli painted this in 1781. i went through my art history book because this reminded me of your story.

anyway it would be genuinly weird if it was the same thing. this is a demon by the way.

More than likely, you were still in REM and jolted awake. Next time you awaken only to feel your body is in an unnatural position, perform a reality check before opening your eyes.

The OP believes(d) what he saw to be a direct run-in with the paranormal. Though truth be told, it sounds more like he was coming out of REM.

Maybe. Not positive on that.
In any event, its good that its here.
Might help anyone who genuinely does believe they are in the presence of ghosts and demons.
