I think it depends. I did not like being told I was wrong, or having my beliefs contradicted. I admit, I was (and am) immature, and I don't feel ready at all for any of the stuff I got involved in spiritually. Hence my questions--a lot of people would want their beliefs reinforced, not corrected, especially if the "truth" is something that gives them less comfort than their previous beliefs.
Same with life choices. I wasn't happy about being told I was wrong in making certain choices. When those choices in turn backfired on me, it was devastating. For example, I was in a relationship and I was told that it would fail (and how it would fail). No matter who you are, if you are mature enough to say "You know what, you're right, I'm going to walk away from this person I love," then more power to you to go find a spirit guide or whatever. But a lot of people, like me, may not be ready for that type of thing. So that's why I think it's worth seriously thinking about those things.
