In need of assistance
I had a terrible LD the other night. I was ambushed walking down a dark road and was strangely out of my league. Usually I have no trouble dispatching any enemies in my dream but this was different.. There was a weird intelligence to the way this thing attacked me and it took everything just to stop from being 'destroyed'. Everything i did this thing seemed to be one step ahead of me.
I've never encountered anything like this before.
I've heard talk of night stalkers, dreamwalkers etc and i've always been sceptical about it but this got me thinking. I remember being held up by the throat then struck hard in the stomach which woke me up. I felt no pain but i was jolted awake. I've never felt so powerless in an LD before.
If anyone has information that could educate me on the matter it would be much appreciated. Places to look etc.

Could be your subconscious sending you a signal that you aren't perfect and are open to attacks. (In your personal life, perhaps you feel something isn't going the way you want it)

I thought on whether its something manifesting in my subconscious based on how things had been going in life but at the moment i really have nothing to complain about, things have been going fine.
I've never experienced anything like this even at bad points in life.

Hey Azz,
The whole nightstalker thing is kind of a made up word for some rumors that circulated around this and a few other lucid dreaming forums. While a lot of us here believe in shared dreaming, there really aren't any named groups of people who do so, and if there were, they certainly wouldn't call themselves something as lame as "nightstalkers."
In any case, I really sympathize with you about your dream. I'm a pretty experienced dreamer myself, and I have had many dreams where I've been unable to overtake a dream adversary. Unfortunately, being lucid or experienced doesn't always equal control. Whether or not you want to take this as a possible outside entity/force or an internal force which refuses to be taken down is up to you, and you may want to explore all possibilities for a while without having to believe anything.
Personally, what has helped for me has been to try to talk with the adversary. Ask them who they are, what they want, and why they are fighting with you. You might be surprised at their honesty, and you might even turn an enemy into an ally. :)

Thanks, i appreciate the reply.
I did think the whole nightstalker thing was weird, but i was willing to explore any avenues to shed some light on that dream.
I'd never felt anything like it, it wasn't like any dream adversaries i'd ever faced, which is why it really made me wonder whether it was a part of my subconscious or not. I couldn't put in words how it felt but it certainly shocked me.
Thanks much for the advice, i haven't countered this person since, but i will certainly try confronting him and talking to him.
After being so powerful in my dreams it really is weird to lose control and be utterly powerless.

Please write the the dream down.

assinoth,
there is a simple explanation for many negative or frightening dreams - this might apply to yours; we choose to put ourselves into situations involving fear, aggression, helplessness, etc. in the safety of dreams simply for the experience. to be human is to be emotionally curious. we indulge our curiosity by participating in dangerous and fearful dream scenarios without having to suffer the consequences IRL.
