If you want to contact elementals such as air/fire/water/earth elementals (from the 4 elements of nature) I'd advise you to be extremely cautious and conscient of what you're doing.

The human being can be seen as composed of the four elements, which, when perfect balanced and in motion, supposedly generate the fifth element/quintessence/akasha/whatever/spirit, which humans are born from and live with, to a degree. Since all the elements are already within you, you'd have to balance them. Otherwise you'll begin to decay corresponding to the excessive element within you.

That being you with yourself, if you want help from an elemental, it would boost you in the respective element. If you cannot handle it, it will end up in an gross unbalance and throw you down from the mountain peak, so to speak.

I have never contacted them within dreams, my lucidity is kind of over rusty and noobistic. But you could search for witchcraft, wicca (safety first), or other kind of occult rites to achieve what you're looking for.

Didn't know that, thanks. All I knew was the four elements and spirit points on a pentagram. Besides what systems is this from? Celtic?

What I said comes from hermetic sciences.

They were really kept secret you know, in the old times, but nowadays they end up standing up on the crowds for those who look for them.

Search for "New Hermetics" if you can. If you want.

There are no deities or Gods lol. Your belief in them gives them power to exist. I MAY be wrong, but:

If they DO exist, it's because groups of people give them power to exist by belief ( subconsciously )

If the Gods do not exist, then isn't this another method to worship self?

Also, by your definition, that could be consider how thought form elementals are fueled and created. I forget the other term for it, but it is out there somewhere.

Yeah HaRd_WiReD got it right. Supposedly it's the force of thought you give something ""imaginary"" that gives them power to influence reality, in a way.

It can be seen as a method to worship self if you take in consideration that gods and deities are based on archetypes of the human mind.

There are two methods to do so in my opinion. You could a get into a lucid dream and summon or seek these beings or you could incubate a dream in which you seek out and/or summon one.

Basically, Dream Incubation is where you plan out the general course of events your dream will take when you sleep. It takes practice, but I have been able to incubate dreams in the past. I just visualized what I wanted the dream to be about, and when I went to sleep the topic I had visualized/incubated occured in my dream.

I have communicated in dreams & in waking life with elementals. Are they real? Well, I answer my question by saying effectiveness is the measure of truth.

Maybe the more important question is believing in elementals and dieties useful?

I would second the advice on New Hermetics.

This is very interesting reading and in some ways following Taoist Thought. Taoism is very simple, profound and objective. Check out the Taoist book The I Ching It translates very loosely. Its underlying philosophy is that as the elements interact to create the world around us & the condition of the world around us.

Another avenue of exploration of elementals & deities with usefulness is Tibetan Buddhism. A favorite book of mine is Healing with Form, Energy & Light by Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche.

Also one last example is that of shamanism. Shamanism there is no true dogma only experience. Shamanism has only a few tennents. Those are that everything is conscious; streams, rivers, rocks, storms, fire etc. And, that all is connected in the web of life.
