    Exploring My Mind

My dream journal. I'll try to make things as interesting as possible, and try to recall as many dreams as I can.
Anything in orange text is just part of a non-lucid. Anything in blue text is a lucid dream. Purple text is a dream sign, or possible dream sign. If the text isn't colored, it's not a dream and it's usually just me commenting on various things.
I'm hoping to fill this journal with tons of dreams over the coming years, and ultimately, get better at lucid dreaming~

    1. Almost Lucid: Government Chases and School Antics

by , 08-26-2016 at 07:46 PM (Exploring My Mind)
Had a two day period of no recall, but I didn't let that deter me, and this morning I was able to recall two non-lucids. What was frustrating about the second one, however, is that I was almost lucid! Well, frustrating isn't quite right. It's more both heartening AND frustrating, nice and bittersweet. Here's the first non-lucid:
I was being chased by these government agent types; they were an army of about 10 men and women dressed up in black suits and equally black sunglasses. They were after me for reasons I didn't know, but what I did know was that I needed to hide. I ran all over the place trying to find a good enough hiding spot. Seemed like we were in a sort of hotel-like place. I ducked through a stairwell, noticing a guy as I passed by who I knew from real life, somebody from my high school, and for some reason, he was wearing a sombrero. He shook his head and looked away. Eventually I found a tucked away corner behind a column and waited. They passed me by, and the leading lady was barking orders left and right, having the group split up. Did I get caught? Well, let's hope not. Dun dun dunnnn.
      The second dream:
I was in a classroom that looked like my old psychology class's classroom from high school. I was minding my own business, but the guy I recognized from high school in the previous dream was also in this classroom (no sombrero this time, a shame...) and he was ranting like crazy, to the point where it was bothering others. I couldn't take it anymore, so I slammed my hands on my desk, stood up, turned around, and shouted at him to just shut up. He gave a snappy retort back at me, and the entire class fell silent. I gave him a glare and sat back down in my seat. Suddenly, I got the strangest urge to do a reality check. All I could think was, I should probably reality check right now. ......And yet, nah...I'll do it later. Dismissing that thought, I noticed a fictional character from a game I play walk into the classroom. In this game, she's a little sister to the main character, so she happened to be my imaginary little sister here. She was bringing me cookies, which cheered up my grumpy mood a little. All I can say is...CURSE YOU, DREAM-SELF!!! On the one hand, I'm delighted my non-lucid self is thinking those thoughts. That's a good sign of progress. BUT SO CLOSE. Yet so far. In a dream that wasn't all that weird, funny enough, at least compared to the antics of the dream before it.
    2. Another Lucid!

by , 04-21-2015 at 11:11 AM (Exploring My Mind)
Had another lucid dream this morning, with this one being the most clear-cut example of a DILD I've had to date. This also marks the first time I've had two lucid dreams in one month, (as far as I remember), so I'm patting myself on the back.
I had two fragments from other wakings in the middle of the night, and both of these fragments involved work and coworkers. I'm starting to think this is becoming a dream sign.
This lucid came about when I woke up 20 minutes prior to my alarm for work. I went back to sleep, and...
I was in my high school science class, and there were plenty of familiar faces around me. However, my friend Garrett wasn't there, so I decided to go look for him outside the class. I exited into the hallway, and went around the corner to a spot I knew he always was at, but upon finding this corner, he was no where to be seen.
It was at this point that I got suspicious, and decided to do a reality check, with me questioning if I was dreaming. I did the nose pinch a few times, and every time I did, I could breathe, but I didn't notice that was weird until the third time it happened. Once I realized, I was lucid. "This is a dream," I thought to myself. Immediately once I went lucid, my view shifted, and everything suddenly became much more vivid and detailed, but also more shaky. I looked at my hands and studied them, hoping to stabilize the dream. My thoughts briefly wandered to me in my bed, and I almost woke up. But, instead, I re-focused on my hands and just as the dream was fading, I teleported a few feet in front of me and everything was back to its vivid self.
I was very excited, and wondered what I should do. I decided to go find some of my other friends, who were probably in gym class right about now. I thought about being at gym class, and POOF, I was there, only now, I was floating. I floated around, enjoying the feeling of hovering, and watched my classmate's reactions. Once I exited the gym, I briefly considered what I should do next, but...

Then I woke up. The lucid itself felt about 5 minutes long, which is the longest I think I've had, or close to it. And teleporting is a new for me as well, which was surprisingly easy for me to do, although if it did make the dream less stable, I certainly didn't notice it.
    3. Running and Hiding

by , 04-20-2014 at 10:49 PM (Exploring My Mind)
It's been a little while since I last recorded a dream (almost a month in fact). Luckily, I had a big burst of recall this morning, remembering one specific dream in vivid detail. Don't know what caused it to spike back up, but I was on a trip, so I did sleep somewhere other than home.

I went to school with my girlfriend (yeah, throwing in the big dream signs already). This school was a mish-mash of various real life and fictional places, though mostly real life. When my girlfriend and I arrived at the school, we both went to our separate classes. It was shaping up to be a very good day, because both John and Hank Green (of Vlogbrothers fame) came to our class and chose me to interview them in front of the students. I had to prepare my questions, while they went off to a separate room to wait. As I was preparing, a couple of students started messing with me and really began to piss me off. Eventually it got to the point where I shoved one of them out of my personal space and began yelling at the entire class, telling them they're all a bunch of jerks and they have no respect.
At this point, obviously, I was quite embarrassed! So I ran out of the classroom, not knowing where to go. I decided to try to find my girlfriend to tell her what all happened, but when I found her, I got even more upset since she was giving most of her attention to some guy named Cody. This just wasn't my day! I ran away from that too and started hiding in various parts of the school, occasionally running away if the principal was near. This is where it started to get even more odd. As I was wandering through the school, I stumbled into none other than Auron from Final Fantasy X (and wouldn't you know it, I bought the HD remaster a few days ago). Auron ended up giving me good advice and told me not to feel bad about it all.
"Just apologize. Go back in there and be cool about it."
I gave him my thanks, feeling a lot better. So, of course, I took his advice to the letter and ran back to the class, apologizing in front of everyone and going back to my seat to prepare for my interview with John and Hank Green.

What a graceful dream THAT was. Lots and lots of running and hiding. Moral of the story: Final Fantasy X cheers me up.
    4. A Bad Day at School

by , 03-27-2013 at 01:46 PM (Exploring My Mind)
Since I'm in the midst of spring break right now, a school dream wasn't particularly pleasant.
I was at school. Although the first parts of the dream are foggy, after those I remember being in my Japanese classroom. There was a big hole in the wall that led to a tunnel, and apparently students had to race through it to see who would win. I decided to give it a shot. The first couple of laps were a piece of cake, and I was smoking everyone there. On the third and final lap, I heard a kid I dislike and another kid who I know but have never talked to. They were talking about me.
"That Tanner sure is a competitive one."
      "Tanner? Yeah, I guess."
"Even if he's an idiot, he's still competitive."
I was very peeved off by that, but I didn't turn around to insult him, and instead kept staring at the tunnel waiting for the race to start. It had surprised me that he had said that, since in real life that kid is nice to just about everyone.
The final lap started, and I was almost going to win the race by the end of it, but it was called off and everyone scrambled out of there. As I was making my way through the crowd, I saw my girlfriend, who for some reason had long, blonde hair (whereas in real life she has short, black hair). I didn't think it strange, however, and hugged her tight when I saw her. We walked and talked for a while, until eventually we had to go to class.
For some reason, as I was walking to my English class, I was suddenly wearing nothing but my underwear, although once again, I didn't find this strange. I walked into my English class only to be greeted by a new teacher who I had never seen before. I forget what his name was in the dream (started with an R), but he was a young man, about 22 or so, with a patch beard and short, dark brown hair. The class was rearranged differently, and all along the sides were computers that the kids were using to goof off on the internet. I grabbed a chair and waited for the bell to ring.
There's also a brief snippit of dream that I remember (can't recall if it was part of the school dream or not) that involved me and my friend riding across long stretches of road on bikes.
