    Hyu's Adventures

I've been lucid dreaming all my life. But it is only in late 2010 that I was introduced to what lucid dreaming actually is,
and that it is possible to induce lucid dreams. Soon after, I discovered Dreamviews.
These are the adventures and the curiosities I experience in my dreams.

    ~ Recurring Locations ~

    • The Beach (Image)
A place I often end up in if I get lost, or if I use a means of teleportation without thinking of a destination.
It is always dusk whenever I am there. Usually the beach is empty, but occasionally something of interest can be found.
The beach is a place of serenity. A place where I can be alone and safe.
    • Teraluna - Riven (Image) (Image)
Teraluna is an inhabited moon within a binary star system.
It is orbiting a blue gas giant. It is only sparsely lit by both suns, which are quite far away.
Riven is a hidden sky city, hovering over the seas of Teraluna.
It is a safe haven to all it's inhabitants, and home to Yuya.
The city is lit entirely by colorful bioluminescent plants and creatures, giving the place a rather surreal and vibrant look.
Riven is my favorite place to visit whenever I am lucid.

    ~ Recurring Characters ~
    • Yuya (Image)
She has been in my dreams ever since my early teens.
Formerly a goddess of water, she now lives in Riven.
She is my spirit guide (although she does not like to be labeled as such)
The connection I experience with her is incredible.
She is my friend, my companion, my love, my ecstasy, my guide and my teacher.
    • Faye (Image)
She is my dream guide, and often changes her appearance.
But for some reason she has recently turned evil, and now haunts my dreams.
She is no longer the same person, and can seemingly no longer be reasoned with.
    • Silver (Image)
      A character from childhood dreams.
He used to be my rival, but is now my dear friend.
He is not a man of many words, and I do not encounter him very often.
    • Liv (Image)
Liv is a succubus, a kind of demon.
She is young, inexperienced, shy, but immensely kind and compassionate,
even though at first glance she looks demonic and dangerous.
Nowadays she lives in Riven. Yuya and I guide her on her path towards adulthood.
    • Shinave (Image)
Formerly a goddess of ice. She is a wise and intelligent person.
      She is Yuya's mother.
    • Ifrit (Image)
Formerly a god of fire. A being of terrible force and power, but also incredible wisdom.
He has lived for many hundreds of years, and still upholds old and conservative ideals.
    • Selene
      A character from childhood dreams.
She has fallen to the templars a long time ago.
    • Templars
A vile force of darkness that has threatened my dreams in the past.

non dream - lucid - non lucid

I'm not sure sure at which point I started dreaming, or if I dreamed all of it, and when exactly I was lucid.
So I'll go ahead and mark things with colors like I experienced them.
In other words if I thought I was awake I'll mark it as if I was, even though I don't really know.
I have never taken any mind altering drugs, I wonder if it's anything like this...

      _______

I wake up in bed... I still feel very tired.
The room is very dark and I lately leave the shutters just slightly open so I can see if it's already day when I wake up.
I assume it's still night and I want to continue sleeping.
I notice I haven't moved yet and I don't seem to sense my body.
The thought of WILD'ing crosses my mind.
It's been quite some time since I've attempted to WILD, so why not.

Right as I try to relax, the little colors I see become somewhat bright and start changing.
This was fast? I never get HI this fast, this is weird.
I realize I'm floating over my bed. Am I already dreaming?
Was I having a false awakening? I never get visuals like this when I'm dreaming though.
As my room lights up I realize that I am floating in some sort of tunnel. The room is no longer there.
I'm gently descending this tunnel of colorful clouds and lights.
I suppose I'm actually falling, but I'm falling so slowly that I'm not worried.
I actually enjoy it quite a bit, it's very relaxing.

I can hear ambient music. (something like this)

I try to focus on a color cloud. It is clearly changing it's color all the time, but I can't actually see it changing.
It changes colors right in front of my eyes, but I don't see the change, I only realize it has changed.
This has me perplexed for quite some time. Am I really dreaming? or can you actually have HI this strong?

After some time I am floating in my room again, except it's lit now. The spotlights in my room are on but they
have different colored bulbs in them.
Somehow my room looks much bigger than it is in waking life, but somehow everything is still the same size.
I don't understand how this is possible and hover over to my desk.

I take a can of coke from it because I want to know what it tastes like.
But the can is very weird. It seems way too small, but upon closer investigation it isn't.
I cannot tell if it's a normal size or a tiny can. I can't understand why I cannot distinguish this.
I wonder if this is what tripping feels like? A friend once told me he couldn't tell sizes apart when he was doing some sort of drug.

The lid of my laptop opens up by itself and it goes out of standby.
I am presented with the Visual Studio project I was working on last night.
I was working on a physics engine and needed to add support for air resistance into it, but I was too tired and went to sleep.
I don't understand why this was so hard...

I go to wikipedia and copy paste the equation for drag straight into my code.
The equation appears and the program starts on my second monitor.
I can see the numbers in the equation changing as stuff moves around in the game.
I need to test if it feels realistic, so naturally, I climb into my monitor to see if the falling physics are correct.

I'm falling down yet again, I'm in the game, but I can still see the monitor with the equation as well.
I see both things at the same time.
Whilst I am falling with my first body, I correct an error in the formula with my second body which is still in front of the pc.
I feel the corrections take effect with my in-game body and understand that everything is correct now.

I hit some key that does something and my bodies merge again and I'm back in my room.
The color clouds are back, but I can still see my bed.
But I can't see myself in it which surprises me. I was assuming to find myself sleeping in it.
I go closer and see a pulsating light where I'm supposed to be.
It's beautiful. I go closer and it turns into a galaxy.

I am now floating through this galaxy of colorful stars. I am relaxed... I feel at peace...
    2. Concert on Teraluna

non dream - lucid - non lucid

I haven't had any 'memorable' dreams for some time.
I strongly believe that this is caused by a lot of stress in waking life.
So when I finished a project yesterday, I was quite relieved and decided to take the rest of the day off.
I still have quite a few things to do, but I figured I could afford to relax for one day and sleep properly for once.
I chatted with some friends on teamspeak and played some sc2.
When I went to bed I wondered if I'd be able to recall an awesome dream this night.
I started thinking about what has happened thus far, and tried to go to the whole 'teraluna' plot again, from the very beginning.
At some point I fell asleep.

This is the second dream of the night.

I'm at some kind of open theater:

It's not as big as in the picture, but the stone seat arrangement is quite similar.
Some sort of concert is about to start.
There's a girl with a violin, one with a cello, one with an e-guitar, a guy with a bass and another on drums.
Quite an interesting arrangement, I like violins and cellos.

I know I'm on Teraluna, but I don't think about it very much, I'm just happy to be here and wonder where Yuya is.
Then I remember that she went to get drinks. I look around.
I'm sitting in the second row, there's not really that many other people here, maybe around 50?
It's nice because we're all spread out, so everyone has a lot of space.
I admire the sky for a bit. Since Teraluna has no artificial lights you can see the stars and nebula in the sky very clearly.
I suddenly remember that I should probably stabilize the dream, I feel like I'm out of practice.

I rub my hands, but then I remember that I have a more effective way of doing this.
I gently activate my dragonic aura, which causes a warm and fuzzy feeling all over my body.
I wish all dreams would start on Teraluna, it is such an obvious dream sign, I never missed it so far.
Yuya joins me and hands me a rather strange but interesting drink.
There's a blue and a green liquid inside, but they don't mix, so it looks all swirly.

Yuya sits down the exact moment I'm stretching my arms, and she sits very close so I automatically put my arm around her.
I'm not entirely sure how that happened. Smooth Hyu... very smooth...
I'm happy to see her again, it feels as ecstatic as it always does.

      "You're awake!"
      "Yes! Can you always tell?"
      "Mostly, yes."

The band is starting to play so we stop talking.
I take a sip of my drink. I'm quite surprised by the taste.
I thought it would taste like lemonade, but it actually tastes like champagne.

The beginning of the first song reminds me very strongly of the Morrowind Theme:

After some time it's very different though.
It's very special, I can't classify it into a genre of music, but I absolutely love it.
I notice the guitar part isn't very hard, I think "I can do that".
I concentrate on it and try to remember it, I want to play it in waking life... (Sadly, I can't remember it at all)

... We're sitting at the table in front of Yuya's place.
For some reason the music is still playing.
We're talking about waking life. I complain that I'm stressed lately and that I want to visit her more often...

... For some odd reason I think of 'dream fruits', there was something about them, but what was it?
Yuya takes one of those blue lemons from a basket on the table and hands it to me.
Then I remember, it was the advanced task of the month on DV! (It's the basic one actually, I confused it)
I can't believe I remembered it, I only read about it once.
I take a big bite out of excitement. It's very sour, I regret taking such a big bite.
      Yuya laughs.
We talk some more before the dream ends.
(I can't remember what we were talking about though)
    3. Creating background music for the dream.

non dream - lucid - non lucid

      Continued from: http://www.dreamviews.com/blogs/hyu/...ghtmare-11157/

Well, that last dream was quite something.
I can't sleep. I take my book again and read a few more pages.
For some reason I feel like trying another WILD, even though the last one went... quite wrong?
Meh, whatever, if I have another nightmare I'll just end it again.

      I slowly go into SP.
I see little light flashes. I imagine the lights being stars of the sky.

I'm standing on the beach at dusk or dawn, looking at the stars in the sky.
Damnit, how did I transition? I can never remember.
Why is it so easy sometimes, and sometimes I can't manage at all?
      Is this another nightmare?
      No. It feels very pleasant.

I stabilize the dream by rubbing my hands and grabbing a handful of sand from the beach.
I slowly let the sand drop through my fingers. Feels nice!
I suddenly remember that I had music in my last dream, and that it was so very vivid.
I wonder if I can create background music in any dream?

I imagine hearing music, but it doesn't start playing in the dream.
Suddenly, I get an idea I know has to work.
I reach into my left pocket, trying to summon my mobile phone with a pair of headphones.
      Success!
I put on the headphones. (they're the earplug kind)
I turn the display of my mobile on, it already has a music player loaded.
I'm presented with the typical buttons "Artists, Albums" etc.
However, there's a button which isn't there in waking life: "Auto".

"Auto"? That sounds cool. I press it and put the mobile back into my pocket.
I start walking on the beach. Music starts playing. It's some kind of ambient trance, very soft. It fits the current scene immensely well.
I'm very pleased and note that the clarity of the dream greatly increases.
Holy shit! this is awesome! I gotta remember this!

I wonder if the music will always fit the setting of the dream. (The "Auto" setting makes me think it will)
I quickly summon a portal, again as if I had done it a hundred times.
This time I don't even do the whole procedure, I use a shortcut.
I basically open the portal by drawing the bubble with my energy instead of my fingers and just give it a flick to open it up.
The whole thing just takes a split second.
I'm surprised that I just did this without even thinking about it, but I'm happy that I managed to do so.
I want the portal to lead to a scene where dramatic music would fit. (I'm a big fan of cinematic trailer music)

The portal opens and I step through.
I'm on a ship. An airship. Well, just a flying ship really.
I'm on the deck feeling the air pushing against my skin as the ship navigates between very high buildings.
It's not a modern or sci-fi scene though, it's very fantasy like.
I hear dramatic music this time. Very fitting yet again. I try to identify the piece of music but I can't.
I'm not sure if I've even heard it before.

      The dream suddenly ends.
