I've been lucid dreaming all my life. But it is only in late 2010 that I was introduced to what lucid dreaming actually is,
and that it is possible to induce lucid dreams. Soon after, I discovered Dreamviews.
These are the adventures and the curiosities I experience in my dreams.

    ~ Recurring Locations ~

    • The Beach (Image)
A place I often end up in if I get lost, or if I use a means of teleportation without thinking of a destination.
It is always dusk whenever I am there. Usually the beach is empty, but occasionally something of interest can be found.
The beach is a place of serenity. A place where I can be alone and safe.
    • Teraluna - Riven (Image) (Image)
Teraluna is an inhabited moon within a binary star system.
It is orbiting a blue gas giant. It is only sparsely lit by both suns, which are quite far away.
Riven is a hidden sky city, hovering over the seas of Teraluna.
It is a safe haven to all it's inhabitants, and home to Yuya.
The city is lit entirely by colorful bioluminescent plants and creatures, giving the place a rather surreal and vibrant look.
Riven is my favorite place to visit whenever I am lucid.

    ~ Recurring Characters ~
    • Yuya (Image)
She has been in my dreams ever since my early teens.
Formerly a goddess of water, she now lives in Riven.
She is my spirit guide (although she does not like to be labeled as such)
The connection I experience with her is incredible.
She is my friend, my companion, my love, my ecstasy, my guide and my teacher.
    • Faye (Image)
She is my dream guide, and often changes her appearance.
But for some reason she has recently turned evil, and now haunts my dreams.
She is no longer the same person, and can seemingly no longer be reasoned with.
    • Silver (Image)
      A character from childhood dreams.
He used to be my rival, but is now my dear friend.
He is not a man of many words, and I do not encounter him very often.
    • Liv (Image)
Liv is a succubus, a kind of demon.
She is young, inexperienced, shy, but immensely kind and compassionate,
even though at first glance she looks demonic and dangerous.
Nowadays she lives in Riven. Yuya and I guide her on her path towards adulthood.
    • Shinave (Image)
Formerly a goddess of ice. She is a wise and intelligent person.
      She is Yuya's mother.
    • Ifrit (Image)
Formerly a god of fire. A being of terrible force and power, but also incredible wisdom.
He has lived for many hundreds of years, and still upholds old and conservative ideals.
    • Selene
      A character from childhood dreams.
She has fallen to the templars a long time ago.
    • Templars
A vile force of darkness that has threatened my dreams in the past.

    1. The abandoned city of Jupiter (Totm)

I'm at home, programming for one of my current projects.
I have a bit of trouble getting something to work, that doesn't appear to make much sense.
I quickly realize that what the problem itself is complete nonsense.

      Yep, I'm definitely dreaming.

I notice I've also been programming in chrome in stead of visual studio, how weird.
I see the "Dreamviews" tab is still open, so I click on it wondering if there'll be anything special.
Unfortunately I get an error trying to access the page:

"Error 000: You are not awake"

      Funny...
I stand up and take a closer look at my room, trying to let the dream settle in and to figure out what to do.
I'll try the advanced Totm again. I'll go to Jupiter! But this time I'll do it right, not like last time...
After I feel that the dream is stable and that I am thinking clearly, I draw my phoenix wings and try to reach out to Jupiter with my mind.
It's pretty easy, and I immediately find the big red spot, great!
I take a step through the fabric of space, teleporting a few 100 meters over the red spot of Jupiter.

I immediately start falling. Yeah... gravity, how did I not think of that?
Jupiter is huge! When I look at the horizon I cannot see any curvature, it's perfectly straight, as if it would be a plane of infinite size.
There is no sound as I fall, but I understand that is because I haven't entered the atmosphere yet.
Obviously I can't hear anything in the void of space.

I know I'll hit the outer atmosphere any second now, I can see the red layer of gas approaching very rapidly.
It looks like an absolutely massive tornado, reaching for possible thousands of kilometers, and I'm falling into the very center of it.
As soon as I hit the first clouds I can hear a massive thunderstorm. It is very loud, and it never stops growling.
I see lightning flashes everywhere, so I draw a protective bubble around myself, which lessens the pressure I feel all over my body and the intensity of the sound.
Although the smell is very faint, it smells a bit like an orange? How weird, I would have expected something more like sulfur.

I descend through many layers of clouds, and the intensity of the storm decreases as I go deeper.
Suddenly, a pocket in the clouds appears. There's a biodome floating in the middle of it!

I realize that I will hit it pretty hard if I don't slow down and instinctively summon my wings in order to do so.
Although I do slow down quickly I won't stop in time, but I know that's not a big issue.
Just before hitting the outer wall of the biodome I simply blink through it and end up on the other side.
I slow down and land on a big greenfield next to a sea.
The air tastes and smells very fresh, you get that sort of salty taste as if you're standing on the beach of a big ocean.

I was hoping to meet the inhabitants of this biodome, but it seems this place has been abandoned a long time ago, how unfortunate.
But I'm quite happy that I managed to do this and that I found something rather interesting.
I want to do the basic task as well, but I'm afraid to loose the dream if I go back to earth.
But then it strikes me, the basic task should be easier than the advanced one... I'll just summon a shipwreck right here.
My back is turned towards the sea, so as I turn around I expect there to be a shipwreck, and there is.
It's right under the water surface on the beach. It's an old wooden pirate ship.

I wonder if I can blink into water? Ah, what the hell, I'll just try.
I look at the ship and blink. OUCH!
Well, the good news is it works. The bad news is it feels like running head on into a brick wall.
I dive into the wreck, searching for a treasure chest.
It gets quite dark which I dislike, I know going into darkness can end dreams.
But then I find a wooden treasure chest... except... it's really really small.
It's maybe 10 by 10 centimeters, but it looks like a royal chest with jewels and everything on it.

I open it up, hoping to find something amazing.
As it opens, a few faint light rays emerge from it... woah!
Inside of the chest I find... well... a wooden Yo-Yo.
What the fuck? Seriously? What kind of treasure is that?
My vision slowly becomes darker and then blacks out.

I decide not to try to stabilize it and wake up instead to take notes.
    2. Help from my Dream Guide

non dream - lucid - non lucid

I am in the countryside, walking up a path which leads to my house. (I have never seen this place)
The path leads up to the top of a small mountain.
The area isn't very populated, so I don't encounter many people on my way up.

I finally reach a small street, my house is at the end of it.
There's a few more houses, maybe 12 or so and a water fountain in the middle of the street.
For some reason I am attracted to the fountain, it is very beautiful, but I don't really know why.
As I approach it I start to question my surroundings and quickly realize that I am dreaming.

I am happy to have become lucid, but the feeling quickly vanishes.
In front of the fountain I find a dead wolf. He seems to have died because of a deep wound on his neck.
I feel odd. Seeing the dead wolf makes me kind of sad.

It starts to rain. Has it ever rained in my dreams? Does it rain because I am sad?
The sky starts clearing up and it stops raining, rays of light start poking through the clouds.
A small bird emerges from the light and lands on the fountain, looking at the wolf.

I have seen this bird before! It is the same as in the Dr. Who dream!
The bird looks at me for a few seconds.
Then he switches his attention back to the wolf.
He spreads his tiny wings and they start glowing in all kinds of colors.
Some glitter emitted from his wings lands on the wolf.

The wolf comes back to life and looks at the bird. They exchange a few thoughts, the wolf is thankful that the bird saved his life.
He runs away. I am amazed by what I just witnessed, but I still feel somewhat weird, although in a positive way now.
The bird takes off and lands on the hand of a girl.
      I recognize her, It's Faye!
She looks different than last time though, but her aura is clearly the same.
She has long brown hair now and shimmering green eyes.

"What have you learned from this experience?"

I remember that WakingNomad has asked me this question a few times.

      "He's a phoenix..."
"Yes, he is, so what does this mean?"
"I don't know... what does it mean? We are in my dream bubble aren't we?"

Faye gives me an affirming nod.
She acts very mysteriously. Yuya sometimes does that as well.
I kind of like it though, I've always been a fan of mystery.
She wants me to keep thinking, I'm supposed to come to a conclusion.

"So this phoenix, he is part of my imagination?"
"A projection of your subconscious the people on your forum would say."

I think this is the first time a DC has made a direct reference to DV.
Faye talks about how in my dream bubble, everything that I don't actively create is a projection of my subconscious.
I already knew that, and she knew that I did, but she's trying to make a point.

"So where does this idea of a phoenix come from?"
"That is the question. Knowing the question is half of the answer."

I really like the way she is speaking, it is so mysterious, yet it is very clear that she is leading me onto the right path.
I look at my left arm and spread my own wings, which I use to navigate the dream plane.
I remembered correctly, the wings on my left arm do look exactly the same way as the wings of the phoenix.

"When I use these wings to teleport, that is actually a phoenix ability."

I say this more as a realization than a question.
And after saying it I know that I am right.
I can use these wings to move through the fabric of space and easily navigate the dream plane by doing so.
I can also heal other beings, but the ability is far too complex for me to do anything major.
I could never revive someone, not even a very simple being, such as an insect.
The sheer amount of energy this would require is beyond my imagination.
I remember that I have used these abilities many years ago in my dreams.
My vision is blurry, I assume the dream is about to end, I feel like I should thank her before it does.

"Thank you, I have indeed learned many things from this experience."

I say this quite awkwardly, I am a bit shy.
Faye approaches me and whispers into my ear.

"I am your dream guide you know, this is what I do, maybe you should ask me for help more often..."
    3. Riding a Gryphon through a canyon with Yuya - Who was Selene?

non dream - lucid - non lucid

(I can't remember the beginning of the dream.)

I'm standing on a bridge with Yuya (I'm assuming on Teraluna). We want to go to another planet, and she projected the location into my mind so I can take us there.
My attempt to create a portal to this location is interrupted by Yuya breaking out in laughter.
I turn around to look at her.
She is laughing so hard, she barely manages to avoid falling to the ground.
The way she expresses her emotions impresses me every single time.
She doesn't hold back at all, she just lets them out unrestricted.

"Did you just try to... open a portal?
      *laugh*
Is that how you got here the first time?"

      "Yes... ?"

She has to hold on to me to not fall over due to all the laughter.
She looks at me, tears in her eyes:

"You're one of the only guys in existence with the ability to teleport to any location you clearly remember...
using only a little energy... and you... opened a portal, stretching over a few million light-years?"

It did feel weird every time I opened a portal, I always assumed this was not the way I used to travel.

"Uuuuh, yeah... I forgot... I guess?"

After catching her breath she puts her arms around me and her forehead against mine.
She's projecting images into my mind; memories on how I used to travel.
I have the ability to summon wings which allow me to quickly travel through the fabric of space, basically resulting in very fast teleportation.
I summon my wings, focusing on the place she has shown me, and try to move both of us to that location.

(I remember teleporting, but not what happened immediately after arriving at our destination)

We're on a different planet; a lot of stone, rock and red sand.
I'm riding on what resembles a gryphon. It's quite big, I'm sitting on his neck.
Yuya is sitting right behind me. She's holding onto me for additional support.
We're flying through a massive canyon on said planet.
It's probably a few hundred meters wide in some spots, but very thin in others, where the gryphon needs to turn fully vertical to pass through.
There are habitats on each side of the canyon, built right into the walls.
Some primitive bridges are connecting the left and right side.
Yuya and I have been talking for some time. (I don't remember the conversation prior to this moment)

"Oh! and I remember someone else from the past! Or... at least I think I do?
A woman called Selene... I think she was a goddess?"

There we go again: Yuya breaks out in laughter.
I hold onto her arms because she's starting to let go and I'm afraid she might fall off.

      "Selene, a goddess?
How on earth did you get that idea."

I tell her about the painting I drew as a kid.

"Selene... yes, of course I know her, but she ain't no goddess.
You and Selene were fighter buddies, even before you and I met.
She was very playful, whereas you became more serious as you grew up, and also much stronger.
We were hanging out sometimes, but you became so much more powerful than she was, so she couldn't really join you on your adventures anymore."

What Yuya said feels right, maybe I wrongly combined my memories because of that picture and reading about an other Selene in WakingNomads DJ.

"But you are the goddess of water, right?"

"Well... yes, I used to be, but I am no goddess any longer, that was a long time ago.
I still have all the abilities I had back then, so nothing really changed, but I am no longer officially a goddess"

      "I see..."

I have a lot of thoughts on my mind. I remember incorporating Selene in a story when I was a child, I think about some of WakingNomad's adventures, whether I'll be able to share dreams one day, and many more things.

      "You're going to loose it..."

      "What?"

"If you don't focus on where you are you'll wake up..."

I notice the clarity of the dream has greatly decreased. My vision is blurry and I can no longer feel the wind.
I try to focus on my surroundings, on Yuya holding me, on the feathers of the Gryphon, but it doesn't work.

"You're thinking too much. You need to be asleep in your dreams, not awake.
You need to understand that this is real. As soon as you let go of that, your mind will let go of the dream."

She's right. The only really long lucid dreams I've had were with her, and they were so overwhelming that I indeed knew every bit of it was real.
And these are waking thoughts yet again... My vision is gone, I can barely feel Yuya's presence anymore.

      "I'm sorry..."

      I wake up.
