    1. Excerpts from the past week

      by , 06-14-2012 at 08:43 AM
I've had a lot on my hands lately, and haven't given much thought to dreaming. I only remember a couple of dreams from the past week.

      First

There is blue, and I decide to make it the sky. I fly over the earth and look down on it. It looks plastic, painted on. I decide on a spot and fly down. I wish to meet a guide there.

There is a man and a woman. The woman is around my age and the man is a bit older. He is explaining things and we are listening. I don't really get anything new out of it.

This relates to a sense that I'm having at the moment, of moving forward quickly and effortlessly, and not getting anywhere.

      Second

Back as a University student, waiting for the time to go to a lecture, playing a game with some friends.
    2. Video guide

      by , 06-06-2012 at 08:37 AM
I was travelling for a week and didn't do any active effort. I was mostly very tired and slept irregularly, anyway. This one, however, was memorable enough to stay with me.

I'm drifting in and out of sleep, in an unfamiliar place, tired but cannot sleep well. When I enter sleep I'm usually aware that I'm dreaming and awareness of the sleeping body disappears. I practice flying. I start from the ground, a park with green grass. I figure I'm starting from my home town, and want to visit the Alps. I get close to the level of the lowest clouds when I hit a roof and come out of what seems like a set for a play. I wake up a little and notice I'm in a bed.

I drift of again and decide to try flying horizontally this time. I'm not moving fast enough to get to the Alps in one night. I try to boost the speed with my willpower, then start saying "faster" out loud. This helps. I come to a scout camp site somewhere in Germany. Not quite there, I need to go southwest. I look at a wooden sign in the forest trying to figure out where I am.

There is a disconnect. Now I'm in a room with a young man, a couple of sofas and a tv. He tells me I know why I'm there. I nod. He starts running a video about some spiritual stuff. I tell him I know the basics of most of these belief systems and we should get on to the real, experiential and technical stuff. I have a remote and I try to fast forward but instead, it seems, I turn the thing of. The man tells me this will take a long time if my technical skills are like that.

I get distracted and I'm drifting to a non-lucid dream, when I hear the man say something about me being impossible. I snap out of it and return to the movie. Some new age stuff. I decide to sit trough it just to please him. I wake up after a couple of seconds, however.

    3. Practicing flying again

      by , 05-27-2012 at 01:40 PM
I'm going to a facility with two other people. They talk about a local people living there, that they wish to study. I remember I'm actually a member of that people, genetically, but living outside it in the second generation. I let this information slip, and suddenly the men are chasing me. They want to study me, and that would not be nice.

I'm hiding behind a creek just next to the shore of a river. There are locals in two canoes firing arrows at the men searching for me. There is some snow next to me, somehow, and I try to throw some on their faces. First I miss but then I hit and try to run away.

I'm in a building with the men. I manage to escape, just run away when they look the other way. I run to the shoreline again. If I was dreaming I could fly. Maybe I am. The scenery looks like it, the situation seems like it. It's a bit of a surprise. I'm dreaming. I fly over the lake.

I'm in a train. There is a man sitting opposite to me. We talk something about this being a dream and flying. I try to fly but don't get very high. He goes a bit higher than me. Encouraged, I try again and go trough the roof. Then I cannot get much higher anymore, but I practice for a while. There is another roof there, even though we're outside.

    4. Spy Stuff and Throwing Balls

      by , 05-19-2012 at 08:53 AM
      First

I'm with my wife, and we are breaking into a building complex. The door is actually not locked, but we are not welcome. We find our way trough a complex of corridors and stairs, ending up to a laboratory room with three people in it. As we enter the alarm goes of. The doors of the laboratory start closing very slowly, and gas starts pouring in. One of the people in the room says something sarcastic to us. They don't seem to be scared of the gas at all.

My wife rummages trough some drawers and finds a paper. The other people don't do anything to stop us, just offer snide comments. We have more than enough time to leave the laboratory before the doors are finished closing. After getting out of the building we start running.

I think if I was dreaming we could just fly away. Or then again, probably I couldn't fly very well, but jump at least. Then it crosses my head, I am dreaming. I'm not exactly sure so I try jumping. I get a lot higher than I should. Then the scene faids, and is replaced by the blackness behind my eyelids.

There is a feeling of vibrations and some imagery, quite clear but not realistic. I think I should try just going with it, waiting for the vibrations to disappear before trying anything. I don't do any formal technique. At some point I drift to sleep.

      Second

I'm in my kitchen with my wife. She is throwing balls up to the ceiling. The ceiling is not solid, it makes a splat and the balls get stuck. I want to try to make the ceiling completely liquid, so that the balls would pass trough. But they just keep splatting, and getting stuck. I jump upward, putting my head trough the ceiling, which offers no resistance. I come down again and ask her to try one more time. The ball, again just splats to the ceiling, maybe a bit deeper this time.
    5. A Battle and Spying

      by , 05-03-2012 at 08:57 AM
I decided to wake up at four again. When I woke up I took the trouble to check the time. It was six. I may have woken up before that, there is a faint memory.

      Artillery Battle

There is a battle going on. I'm at an artillery base a bit from the front line. People are firing bombs toward the enemy. Sometimes small bombs and fiery rings land close to us and we have to be careful. A helicopter flies in low, below the tree level actually, and almost starts shooting. Someone is aiming a rocket launcher at it.

      Spying, Then Running

I'm with a small group of people breaking into a red wooden building. We get in, the doors are not locked, and the others start looking around. Someone notices us outside and I go and lock the door so that he doesn't get in. There is another door and I try to lock it, but it's not attached to the wall on the hinge side. The man gets in and arrests us.

They take us to the middle of the yard one of them tells us that we must run away and they will try to catch us. Another one has a large back with him. He spreads the contents on the ground. I take a pair of sneakers. Then I start running towards a field with a girl from our group, probably X.

One of the others yells behind us that we should have ran to the road first, that was in the rules. There is a road on the other side of the yard. There is also a small road on the other side of the field and I reach it and yell back that I'm on a road. We keep running, jumping over ditches. There doesn't seem to be anyone following us, though, the others are playing by the rules.

We are running pretty fast and jumping over what are almost rivers. I remember that I'm quite often in similar situations when I'm dreaming. If I was dreaming I could fly, and that would be handy. Just to check, I take a longer jump and start flying. I'm very surprised, I really thought I was awake. And I wake up.

I think about the dream a little bit before I turn and fall asleep.

This was probably a false awakening. It was pretty convincing, but in the morning I noticed that the colors in the room were wrong.
    6. Slave Revolt

      by , 05-02-2012 at 08:43 AM
I had a lucid dream tonight. There doesn't seem to be anything triggering it. There might be something I'm missing. I was thinking about dreaming when falling asleep. I also tried waking up during the night again. I thought about getting up and checking the time, but then I just fell asleep again.

I'm walking with two people in a completely different story line, don't remember anything about it. There are three women sitting on a bench in a hall. Two men, one with a gun, are standing next to them. I think they are slaves being transported. I sit down next to them, and now I'm one of the slaves.

The men move us to a room. There's three of them now, and one of them goes away. I think for a while, and then get a change to grab the gun from the guard. I fire a couple of shots to the wall and order them to a corner. Then I think for a while about the situation and the guards try to talk me into giving them the gun. I fire a couple more shots to the wall. The pullets are nails and the gut has turned into a nail gun.

I decide the best course of action is to flee and, flailing the gun around, go trough a door to the balcony. I get the feeling that I'm dreaming. I try this out by flying. I jump over the railing. Then I say it out loud, "I'm dreaming, I'm dreaming". It sounds like it's coming from everywhere, echoing. But It's my voice, and it's clear.

Now that I think about it, maybe jumping of the balcony on the third floor is not the optimal reality check. In real life I wouldn't have been able to get over the railing in one jump though.

I fly forward a bit, hanging over the middle of the yard. The guards have come down and are standing on the yard, looking. I want to fly higher but can't. Then I remember one should stabilize the dream, so that I don't get too excited. I close my eyes and rub my hands together. The feeling is clear. Then I open my eyes. I'm still just hanging there.

I try to fly higher, but it's still not working. I cheat a bit, using the wall to push myself up. I get on the ceiling. I look around and see a black sky.
I open my eyes and wake up. I'm a bit surprised that I'm completely conscious and there doesn't seem to be much of a transition, I just open my eyes.

    7. Pieces from Last Couple of Days

      by , 04-16-2012 at 07:00 PM
      Hunting

A colleque from my workplace, in the dream a teacher, is missing. She has either been kidnapped or escaped with some guerrilla group. We are following her. We get to a dock, where there are a couple of thugs. There is some martial arts display and I start flying towards the ship. I'm not flying very well, and one of the thugs notices. He says that my legs are tired and my flying is almost as bad as his. He starts following me.

      Canoes

I'm walking with a few people. There's snow around the road. We come to a river that is only partially frozen. There are two canoes and we use them to get across. The ice floating on the river is making it harder keep the canoe straight. I fall of the canoe once, landing on a piece of ice.

      Sleeping in the Snow

I'm camping in a forest with some friends. There is a small building and I go in there. It turns into a 2D game-like thing. I'm looking for a weapon and find a fire flower like in Super Mario. I get out and go to where the others are should be setting a camp. Instead, they have decided to sleep in the snow. They have dug themselves into the snow with their sleeping bags.

    8. Flying with Ghosts and a False Awakening

      by , 03-28-2012 at 11:12 AM
The third lucid dream since starting the journal. Again, I seem to be lucid straight from the beginning. Before going to bed I was thinking I’m going to just lose consciousness just for a while and become conscious in a dream.

I'm flying trough the sky somewhere where the lowest clouds would be. I'm clearly aware that I'm dreaming. The sky is clear and I can see the ground very well. There are lakes and rivers and hills. I fly over a haunted house and take a closer look. There is a ghost flying around the house. The ghost decides to follow me. I get a little scared because the ghost my catch up with me and I don't know what would happen then. So I turn up and the ghost just passes by.

I continue up to the sky, wanting to go to space. I seem to approach some kind of a limit and the dream shifts. I'm in the bedroom. I'm still flying, and I try going trough the roof, but cannot.

I'm in my bed now. It's very realistic, I can feel the blanket and everything. I feel hot. The scene flickers a bit and I see some hallucinations. I, maybe correctly, identify them as hypnagogic hallucinations, but fail to realize that I cannot be awake. I see images floating in the room, pictures of things. There is a grill in the bedroom, and the cover part starts moving, flying in the air and making a sound. I'm getting a little scared, this is not really supposed to happen when I'm awake.

My wife wakes up and I ask my her if she sees these things. She says that she doesn't. I figure it's going to pass sooner or later, and it's not really dangerous. My phone rings and there is a message on the screen. "My husband left me." It's some relative, and it's actually a conference call with some other relatives listening as well, as she's explaining the situation. My wife is on her phone and she gives me a knowing look. She's talking with the husband.

I notice it's not really late, not even midnight yet. So I listen for a while.

I wake up for real and do a reality check this time.

    9. Towelball, Lucid with Flying

      by , 03-16-2012 at 07:58 AM
      First

I’m playing a game on a football field with my brother and a group of friends. I’m the goal keeper, but I seem to be doing all kinds of other things. The point is to get a small towel into the goal and there are several of them in the field. I sometimes take one and throw it somewhere far away. There is always a lot of people at the goal fighting for the towels.

      Second, lucid

This dream had the feel of a certain kind of dream I’ve had many times, where I’m running away from someone, trying to loose my tail. In these dreams I’m a bit more lucid than usual, and able to jump really high. This time, though, it never really started. It’s funny that in the beginning of the dream I try to get to the place I then should be running from, without any apparent goal.

I might have been awake just before getting lucid, there is a clear disconnect in the dream. I should of course have tried stabilizing and take it more slowly.

I’m close to my family house, kind of circling around it on a road. I want to see if I can get in without being seen. I go towards the house trough a forest at the back. I approach a couple of times from different angles and then proceed to walk trough the yard. The dream seems to skip and I’m inside the house. I know I've been seen and want to get out. I’m leaving trough the back and suddenly know that I’m dreaming. I fly upward and hit the ceiling, but cannot go trough it. I say out loud “I’m dreaming” two times. It sounds a bit tired, but comprehensible. Then I’m awake and not sure if I actually said it out loud.

    10. More Lucid Than Usual, Dream Control, and Mostly Boring Walking Around

      by , 03-05-2012 at 09:36 AM
I was thinking about dreaming for a while without falling asleep. I tried following my breath and counting it by saying "this is a dream" on each breath.

      First

I loose consciousness. I find my self in a room a moment later. I'm clearly more lucid than usually, although I do not clearly understand that I'm sleeping. I try flying, or floating upwards. First i just float a bit and stop. I gather my concentration and float trough the roof to another appartement, and on all the way to the top floor.

I stop in the top floor because I cannot imagine what going trough the foor would be like. I'm only dimly aware that I'm dreaming. I try jumping from the floor and pushing myself up using a windowstill and a bookshelf, but I always stop at the ceiling. I think I should go outside if I want to get higher.

I see someone on the balcony, apparently the owner of the appartment. I hope he doesn't see me. I'm not quite sure anymore how it was that I got the ability to fly, and think that I might be an invisible ghost. He sees me, though. Try to go out trough the balcony door, but he comes towards me. I hide in a small room and lock the door, but there is another door that opens to the balcony, and he opens it.

The man says something and I tell him I can show him something cool. I take his hand and jump of the balcony. He falls on his back four floors below and I land next to him. I try flying upwards again, and rise above the rooftops.

I land a bit farther away and try again. This time I cannot fly very high, but putting my hand forward like the Superman helps me fly forward quickly. There is a store in the second floor and I wonder about this.

      Second

I take a kid to a daycare and talk with the people there for a while. I go outside to do something, don't remember what, and come back. The daycare workers have some sort of a filosophy that they like to explain to everyone. I don't feel like talking about it too much, that kind of people get upset too easily. Instead I walk around and look at the interesting decor the daycare.
