all i did was watch a few lucid dreaming videos and thought about what i would do when lucid, but the thing that triggered it was me falling back to sleep at 6 am while concentrating on becoming lucid, i think

Yes. Once you realize you are dreaming, you are lucid.

The only reason that I could think of for why you couldn't change that girl, is because you probably didn't have too much dream control. But for your first time getting lucid, it was good! My first lucid didn't go this well; it seems like you may be a natural!
