    1. Doctor Who and the Time Travel Kidnapping

      by , 09-04-2018 at 05:36 AM
09-02-2918 -- Massively cool Doctor Who dream, at least in my mind as I woke up. Earlier bits stumbling around in a house, half asleep, barely able to walk because of a bad foot (from real life today), then I find myself in a sort of a cross between a space ship and a planet. The place is mostly metal, and a slightly odd mix of seeming both medevil and futuristic. The TARDIS is parked in a sort of a junction of blocked off corridors, and is within a slightly shimmering, but almost invisible bubble of some sort of force, so it looks like just the walls of the corridor, but if you walk up to them, you can pass right through them.

I am Andred, the place guard, played by Peter Davison, and the Doctor in this story is the 12th Doctor, Capaldi. I'm not traveling with the Doctor, I am simply on the planet he has landed on. He and his companions (who are never quite seen) are running through corridors trying to figure out what is going on, but I have seen this before, long ago, so I am kind of starting to remember things. Eventually the section of wall that is phased out, allowing passage, is starting to look like some sort of dark iron mask, and as things are becoming more intense, the only thing that is missing, are the glowing red eyes, but I know they are coming.

As I said, things are getting more intense, and one of the Doctor's companions has gone missing. He is trying to find them, and is half-listening at the iron mask, when the bad guy makes some sort of comments about the might of the Sycorax or some such thing, and the Doctor is commenting about how something isn't right here, and I know what it is. At this point of time, the Sycorax should be barely starting their evolution, and incredibly slow and stupid, without enough knowledge or interest to kidnap one of the Doctor's companions ... except that (remember, I've seen this episode before) because of traveling in the TARDIS for a while, they are all soaked in chroniton particles, and having one of them around will jump-start the species' evolution. I know that in a few minutes the Doctor will realize this, and will take the TARDIS back in time to rescue the companion before they manage to get a hold of her, and thereby keep them too stupid to think of kidnapping her in the first place.

But first he has to run around for a bit, and find the clues he needs, to tell him this, and in the meantime, I am just kind of wandering around with him. At one point, he finds a silent sort of weird guy he is trying to communicate with, who seems to look kind of like Chip (Cassandra's servant), but Chip pushes his way head-first through a small hole in the floor. The Doctor begins to follow him, and I'm looking at the small hole and thinking of my large size (mine, not Davison's) and am thinking 'there's no way.' But then I notice that the carpet is rather flexible in the area, and realize the hole is a lot bigger than it appears, but the carpet hides most of it, and I go head-first through, as well.

Dropping to the next level, the Doctor has already run off, and I find myself in a large set of rooms divided by walls here and there, but no doors, a sort of open floor plan. But around the edges of the area there are a lot of confusing, unmarked doors, leading to small corridors with more doors, and a fair amount of people running through them, and nobody is paying any attention to me at all. There is a sort of storage area, with boxes and crates on the ground, and people wandering through the 'aisles' picking out supplies and parts and tools, and there's a sort of lounge area with a bunch of chairs. I duck through one of the doors and through a couple of the small corridors and more doors, but things just keep opening out on even more corridors and rooms, so I head back to where I started, just to find everybody is gone.

So I keep looking around, and more people are arriving again, and in the lounge area, there is an odd sort of display called something like the Eye of Boh, where you sit in a seat and look through a sort of telescope, and your mind is being focused across the universe, to where you are staring into the eye of the provinence of Boh, and are kind of hypnotized. And the passage through the area sort of passes right through the viewing area, so people try to dodge around to avoid being caught in the line of sight, for fear of what might happen. And I see somebody that looks kind of familiar, and find myself asking 'Is that Emma Watson?' and I remember, 'Oh yeah, she did have a guest role in this episode, didn't she.'

She is somewhat young, probably 15 or 16, and looks a little bit different than usual, but still pretty recognizable, and she has taken a seat in the lounge area with a bunch of other fairly young people, and more are gathering all the time. I stumble, and fall back against a wall, and am hoping as I fall that it is a real wall, and I'm not going to knock down part of the set. It is real, and I don't collapse the set, but in the fall, I spot a camera man filming in a dark corridor, and am thinking to myself that the low lighting helps, and that the less observant viewers won't manage to see him in that scene, but the sharper ones will. (ie I am the camera, so his filming there will be caught on film.)

I make it back to my feet, and return to the lounge area, which is getting more and more crowded, and as the crowds grow, balloons are starting to pop -into- existence above them. They make almost no noise, and a barely audible over the industrial sounds of the area. It's also getting darker and darker, so there is less chance of people noticing them appearing, either. The balloons are all black and white, and oddly shaped, somewhat like a Mickey Mouse balloon, except they don't look at all cute, but rather creepy, and as the crowds grow ever larger, and more and more balloons appear, they start drifting down onto the people, where they cause great pain, and cause the people to start screaming and disappearing. I dive out of the way, and am dodging through the corridors again. This time other people are starting to notice me, and beginning to call out for me, and I'm starting to run from them. I find myself back in the shopping/storage area, but this time it is really crowded, and I am having to push my way through the crowds, and am hoping the Doctor hurries up and figures it out, so he can go back in time, and I can take the companions' place, since I am of this time and world, and don't have any chroniton particles to fuel their evolution. I'm ready to sacrifice myself for the team.
    2. Exploring Haunted Secret Passage House, Cross of HP/DW/BtVS

      by , 06-13-2017 at 07:22 PM
03-25-2017 -- An ever-morphing cross between HP, BtVS, and DW. A group of us (an odd mixture of regular people, Harry Potter and Buffy characters) are exploring a large old house that I've explored before in many dreams. Sometimes things remain normal, sometimes they get a little strange, but this one got odder than usual. I'm sort of a Xander-like character, just the normal guy that stuff kind of happens to/around.

The house seems to be morphing into a kind of a cross between Grimmauld Place, the house from the Classic Who episode Ghostlight, and the hotel from the Shining. There is a very evil, corrupting feel to the place, and an odd variety of ... creatures ... are popping out at us, trying to scare us and frighten us, yet over time you almost get the kind of feeling that they are past victims, themselves, now trapped in the place.

At one point, we're exploring one room, and Tonks steps on an area where the floor is weak, and it collapses under her, dropping her into a room in a lower level of the house. The problem is, it is not only a lower level, but also is somehow located in another time, so while we can see her, and are trying to rescue her, we're having a really hard time reaching her. Thankfully the Doctor (the 10th Doctor) arrives, and manages to bridge the gap, so to speak, and rescues her from the evil cat-girl who was after her. So now we're wandering the halls of the horrible place together.

The corrupting influence is still there, but now it is kind of muted, and not as strong, and we realize the TARDIS's telepathic circuits are kind of holding the evil influence at bay. Because of this, the Doctor has got it on a sort of old-fashioned looking pallet jack, and is wheeling it around with us. One of our members is being referred to as 'Dog-Boy,' and I can't help but wonder if it might be Xander, with a hint of the Hyena possession coming out, due to the evil spirit of the place.

Soon we find ourselves in a large room, perhaps a kitchen or a living room, I'm not sure which. One of the beings we're fighting against seems to be a slightly sweet, slightly sassy girl with a sort of a Victorian appearance, who is actually rather cute, and I am sort of falling for her. In the house, only seen under the low lighting of flickering candles, she looks almost completely normal, but then I catch her in direct sunlight pouring in from an uncovered window, and suddenly the makeup on her face shows a completely different image, of a very evil looking clown with razor-sharp, long, demonic teeth.

Doesn't stop me or change how I feel, though. I look her in the face, and explain I am a sometimes clown, too. She doesn't believe me, and I start explaining about the face I designed for my clown. In real life it was a classic white face appearance, with small purple highlights around the eyes and the lips, but in the dream I was explaining it as a rich, violet purple face with white highlights around the eyes, which would probably look rather frightening, itself.

I am explaining how I did a lot of work with balloons, while she is playing with a yellow balloon poodle (sans head), when somebody randomly asks "Hey, where's Dog-Boy?" One of the other enemies, a bit of a mean one, just starts laughing, and says he was killed three days ago, and we never even noticed until now. Personally, to me it only feels like we have been here a few hours, so I'm figuring it was much more recent, but it is still a terrible thing, and as he's still laughing like a loon, I decide to take my revenge on him. I grab a pink bee-body (a kind of twisting balloon) and try to inflate it to pop it at him, but my balloon is full of holes, and won't inflate. So I ask the evil clown girl if I can borrow one of her red ones, and she lets me. The problem is, no matter how big I blow the thing up, it just will not pop! I'm getting more and more frustrated with the thing.

Others are discussing what might have happened to Dog-Boy, and I take the opportunity to spent a little time kissing my evil clown, while also trying to think of a way to save her. Somebody makes an odd mention that kind of indicates that Cat-Girl and Dog-Boy got together for a short time in another time, and had a kid. While others are trying to figure out the logistics of that, I suddenly grasp on an idea of time travel, and saving even the earlier victims of the place, by maybe traveling back in time, saving them and taking them all to another time to safely live out a good life, then bringing them all back to this time for the ending of it all, letting them all have most of a good life.

I start to search out the Doctor, wanting to explain my plan to him, and find him right outside the front door of Draynor Manor, somehow managing to exit the door that is usually entrance, only, and approach him with my idea, but as I run the idea through my mind, trying to figure out the best way to explain it, I can just picture him, ever-more-clearly, muttering about fixed points in time, and how it can't be done, and by the time I reach him, I just kind of glare at him, reproachfully.

"What?!?" he demands, at the way I'm looking at him. "Never mind," I mutter, and start to walk away. But he demands to know why I'm looking at him like that, and I explain the whole idea, and as I expect, he starts muttering about fixed points, and impossibilities, and starts to get angry at me, and accuses me of either being possessed by the evil spirit, or perhaps not even being myself at all, but a replacement that has been foisted on us, and I just re-enter the manor, to see what little I can do for the poor past victims.

As I get back to the kitchen or wherever it is that most of us are now at, a strange cross between Rory and Angel is in the process of hanging a huge pack of firecrackers on the wall of the place, while an equally odd cross of Amy and Buffy is wielding a crossbow and trying to shoot the firecrackers to light the fuse. The idea is to set them all off, which will start a large fire on the wall, which will quickly spread to the entire evil house, burning it to the ground, and destroying all the evil victims within it. I am trying to block the shot, keep it from happening, and figure another way out of things, but I'm just not having any luck.

Just before they manage to send the place up like a roman candle, an earlier version of the 10th Doctor bursts through the back wall, accompanied by Rose and Jack, all three carrying big, shiny, advanced sci-fi weapons, as the Doctor confronts the smallest, meekest, shyest member of our party, and exposes -them- as the one who has been replaces and is working against us (instead of me, as he accused earlier) and says he managed to take my plan and make it work, so now everybody has managed to be saved. Which is when I woke up.
    3. The Doctor and the Daleks of Death

      by , 05-02-2016 at 04:28 PM
05-02-16 -- I'm playing some sort of Doctor Who video game, but the longer I play, the more it seems to be turning to real life. (I can still see myself pressing keys to try and move around, but I'm moving me around in a real-life situation.) I believe I am traveling around in a somewhat hospital-like building, when I find we're being attacked by Daleks. I take off running, and the Daleks are following fairly closely behind, and I can't seem to manage to get away from them.

Soon I find myself in a hallway with three elevators, and I dive into one of the elevators, and start pressing buttons, and instead of moving between floors, I am traveling through time. The problem is, the Daleks almost seem to have managed to link to me, somehow, so every time I try and go a few days further into the past, so I can have time to prepare for the Dalek invasion, they have somehow started their invasion a few days early, and are right there waiting for me, as the doors open again.

In addition, the elevators are also working as elevators, and moving to different floors of the building at the same time. The problem is, the middle elevator has no buttons, and if you enter into it, you are stuck going wherever it takes you, with no control over where you are going, and I am popping in and out of the various elevators like I was in a Scooby Doo chase scene. At one point, I dive into an elevator, and find it is the one with no controls, so I dive out again, almost getting caught in the closing doors. I try to dive into the next elevator over, but its doors slam in my face, so I throw myself at the third elevator, and only just manage to throw my arm in as the doors slam on it, then bounce back open again, so I can get in.

This seems to give me a tiny bit of breathing room, but only a tiny bit. I throw myself into an 'office' of the hospital, and explain to the other Time Lords what is going on, and how I am crossing my own timeline, trying to find a way to defeat the Daleks, but that they are somehow time traveling at the same time, and always beat me to it. And as I am explaining, we can hear the laser blasts and screams from other parts of the hospital, as the Daleks are here, but just haven't reached this room, yet. And though I think I am going to be in trouble with them for crossing my owns paths in the time stream, the situation is important enough that they don't seem to care. Unfortunately, the only advice they have for me is something along the lines of 'embrace death.'

The Daleks are getting ever closer, and I head off at a run, bursting into what appears to be a basketball court, and dodging some players who may be real-life friends of mine (one of them possibly Nick), before I run out another door and through more office-like areas. I finally make it to a corner office, where I run in and find myself facing the Grim Reaper, skeleton, black robes, and all. I launch myself at him, wrap my arms around him, and we both smash through the window, and find ourselves falling hundreds of feet.

Somehow this is supposed to allow Death to see multiple realities or time line possibilities or something, so that he can spot an action that I can take that will allow me to beat the Daleks, but instead he is just crying about how all paths now lead to the end of everything, and there is not a single hope left in the entire universe. Very depressing and horrifying. Except ... even though Death cannot see a way through it all, I suddenly know what to do, and how to fix it, even as we are still plunging to our deaths. And then I wake up.
    4. Rescuing a Friend from Abuse, Doctor Who, and the Scifi Convention

      by , 10-07-2015 at 10:16 AM
06-14-2015 -- So I'm sitting on a curb in a bad neighborhood, eating something. I'm a little scared something bad is going to happen, but it is late at night, there is almost nobody on the street, and I am sitting in a small space between my car and another one, in the shadows, and am almost invisible. Some woman spots me, though, and thinks I am homeless or something, so is coming over to offer me some food or help, and I'm trying to explain I don't really need it.

I start to stand up, and put a backpack or something on the convenient gate of a nearby truck, but as I am getting to my feet, it starts to drive off with my stuff. So I jump to my feet and start to chase after it, but I can't run fast enough. So I kind of launch myself into the air and fly forward, and land on the roof of the truck. It is now more or less a box truck, the kind with the cab separate, so the guy doesn't hear me land on the roof. He gets to a restaurant he is going to, and I jump off the back and more or less fly inside so I am already there when he walks in, and he doesn't suspect I got there on his roof.

But as I get inside, things start to change around, and I find myself near someone I *think* is Sharon N. (not sure because it has been a very long time.) She is scared and freaking a bit, and I find she and her mother are being abused, and she hears her mother crying out in pain, so she pulls out a gun and is preparing the shoot the guy doing the abusing. At this point, I am halfway there, and halfway just watching the dream happen.

I grab the gun from her, and explain her fingerprints would get her caught. Instead I wipe the gun down, then fasten it into a table-mounted vice, with it pointing out the window and right down where the guy is dragging her mother, and when he's in the right position, I push the trigger with a stick and it shoots him. We run out of there quickly, and have left no evidence behind, but because we're running, they're chasing us.

We split up, but are meeting in Sharon's college dorm room, which is on about the 15th floor of a residence hall or something, and I'm just running up stairways trying to find a way to loose the cops chasing us. And there are lots of other students running around, and stuff happening, and things are just getting a bit stranger all the time, and that's where my memory just kind of fades away, though more may have happened in the first dream.

[Anyway, I woke up, and worked at remembering the dream, but was feeling sick, and didn't have anything to write it down at, so I just kept thinking about it and trying to remember it, and falling asleep while I did so.]

Soon I was trying to remember the dream within a dream, but within the dream little bits and pieces kept changing, and soon I find I either was, or was travelling with the Doctor, and was trying to keep things happening the way they were supposed to, while the timeline kept changing around me. Amy Pond was my companion.

[Soon I woke from that dream, and found myself trying to remember the original dream, and the remembering the dream dream (which obviously almost nothing stuck around from), but still had no way to remember it, and drifted off into sleep again.]

This time I found myself arriving at some sort of science fiction-related event, somewhere in California, and somehow I had managed to fly out for this massively cool thing, even though I was only going to be able to be here for the single evening. And things are just about to start, and I am trying to ask about getting a ticket. And for some reason it would be really helpful to have these odd goggle-like things, but they are expensive, and I cannot afford to buy one.

But there is a lady there who has a few pairs, and is considering renting them out as a sort of business, and I explain to her that I could really use a pair, since I am only going to be here for the single night, and she says I would need to have my ticket, first. I need to speak to Someguy. There was a name there, but I sure can't remember who it was. Anyway, he had just walked away, and I try to follow him to ask about the ticket, but he's climbed up into almost a sort of DJ booth, and I am calling out to him, but with my voice he can't hear me, and doesn't want to speak to anybody, anyway.

The event has started now, and I am already missing it, and I'm ticked off and annoyed, and mad enough that I am ready to just stomp out. But then I realize I am in California, and actually, though I thought it was Los Angeles, it turns out to be in San Diego, and I suddenly think I could call Bynner and arrange to meet him somewhere for a meal (maybe In and Out) before I have to fly back in the morning, which would be kind of neat.
    5. Fragments: Runescape Coaster Tycoon, James Bond, Doctor Who, Travel in China, and Taking Out Trash

      by , 06-11-2014 at 09:13 PM
01-26-2014 -- Cool sort of crossover between Runescape and Roller Coaster Tycoon three. I am playing a live action version of Runescape, and I seem to be doing a new quest or diversion that seems to involve another gnome who looks very similar to the sculptor who does the God Statues, but this one is a slightly beatnik looking painter. He is in a building that seems to be built upon the roof of his mobile home camper, and it is sort of odd because I have to fly up to the top of the camper to manage to get in the building, since it doesn't reach to the ground. (Sort of floating building.)

So I enter into the building, and am looking forward to doing some painting with this gnome for some nice, valuable crafting experience. The thing is, the gnome is very unfriendly, doesn't feel like he needs any help, and is pretty much screaming for me to leave him alone. He more or less tries to chase me from the building and tries to run me off, but I get angry, and as he chases me down the hall I grab a bucket of paint and just kind of toss it at a door and he suddenly stops and is amazed at what I have done, and becomes much more friendly.

At that point things start to change, and I find I have to paint a large, slate gray roller coaster that I kind of ride in slow motion as I choose what colors to paint various sections of the track. First I throw a large bucket of a light purple paint, which coats the whole thing, sort of a background color that will show through anywhere I don't paint another color. Then I ride along the twisting and turning track, slowly painting alternate sections of the track red and blue.

There were also other weird bits about having some minor problems breathing, and filling up some strange small glands with a glowing white light that somehow seemed very reminiscent of the 'meteorites' from the Doctor Who episode Spearhead from Space that contained the Nestene Consciousness, and I eventually found myself eating some Oreo birthday cake cream cookies. Yum!

01-27-2014 -- [First dream of the night while 5-HTP is blocking off REM sleep, very choppy and very little detail, but probably the neatest dream of the night if I could remember it. Sigh.] 007 dream, but I am working with the spy, I am not the spy, myself. Hints of time travel, and some neat chase dream stuff, but most of it I just can't remember. Somehow we are trying to save somebody, possibly Bond's wife, or possibly a Doctor Who companion, but if we manage to save her, it is likely it will mean the death of Prince Charles' Camilla, which means we may have government problems if we do this.

01-28-2014 -- I find myself doing some foreign travel with an odd composite group that is part Rosemary's family and part Joe and Cindy's family. We are in either China or Japan (not enough to see to tell what is going on), though all the signs are in English, and as we wander around finding food to eat, and interesting things to look at, I am discussing the entire trip with Lexie and Jimmy. Cheryl is not too friendly, but we're traveling the world, so she can't be too upset, either. We're just about to start heading west a bit, and I am planning further site seeing and explorations, especially in Germany and England, and things are sounding nice.

But as I continue to walk west, I find myself approaching Cinderella Castle, wandering along the parade route, and come to realize I wasn't in China, but probably It's a Small World. Everybody else has disappeared, and I find I am wandering around the Magic Kingdom. (Not sure Disneyland or Disney World, though the castle did look more like Cinderella than Sleeping Beauty.) I wander over to Main Street, hoping to listen to one of the Refreshment Corner pianists, but it turns out the entirety of Main Street is being refurbished, and is closed down, so I start to wander over toward Frontierland or Adventureland, instead, just kind of poking around, and wondering if I will run into any performers I know from the Club doing Streetmosphere.

02-27-2014 -- [Short one with not much detail.] Find myself at the Hickory house, and though there was probably more going on, all I can really remember was that I was taking out some trash, carrying it back to the alley. I knew that there was recyclables to take out, and was planning to remind my roommate to get some, but then I realized one of the bags I had just taken out sounded like it was filled with aluminum cans, and was quite light, so I may have already taken it out for him, even though it wasn't in the proper recycling container.

I knew I had a couple of pizza boxes that I wanted to take out of my bedroom, so I went in to get that, but as I shifted through stuff, I kept finding more and more pizza boxes, including two that were actually still full. I sat those aside to eat. Meanwhile, I kept building up a larger and larger stack of pizza boxes, soon maybe 12 to 15, and I was surprised and horrified because I honestly only thought I had three. Then there was a knock on the door, and it was my landlord Rosemary, who just glared at me when she saw the pizza boxes and I tried to apologize. I explained to her that I really thought I had been keeping up with taking them out better.

[Funny thing is, I really did have to take out the garbage as soon as I woke from this one, and I do have a roommate that I have to remind to take out his recycling. I also did have to take a couple of pizza boxes out, but I swear it was only two, not the 23 or so that Rosemary once caught me taking out, when I had kind of gotten lazy about removing them.]
    6. The Doctor and the Flowers of Doom

      by , 12-31-2013 at 08:26 PM
12-31-2013 -- [Not enough detail remembered, but a quite cool dream, anyway.] I am at the Hickory house, trying to get some laundry done, and just kind of wandering around. I think mom and Melody are here, though I am not completely sure. Whoever they are, they are acting just a little strange, which has me worried. Whether it is some sort of mind control or some strange issue having to do with effects of the full moon, I am not sure, but in some way, I eventually manage to mitigate and reverse some of the strange behavior, even if it means wandering around in the neighborhood a little, late in the evening, with Barbara and Marvin glaring at me when I wander near their house.

Unfortunately that is not the only issue we have to deal with. Mom and Melody seem to be slowly warping into Amy and Rory Pond, and I think the 11th Doctor is around here someplace, though at the moment I am not him. We find ourselves kind of being attacked by giant mutant plants that look like they belong in an amazon rain forest or something. They have a bright red flower that is divided into three 'branches' with a central stock that somehow kind of sprays a mind control mist on people, taking them over, controlling their actions, and using them to take the flowers to more people. Turns out the way to battle the flowers is to grab them and thwack them hard on the central stock, which kind of knocks them out, at which point they kind of shimmer like one was looking at them through a heat haze, and then they turn into a more normal sort of flower and lose their grip on whoever they were controlling. So I free the Ponds, then the three of us run around and start bashing flowers all over the place, either hitting them directly on the stock with our fists, or bashing them against tables or walls, instead.

By the time we've got that incursion under control, I have turned into the 11th Doctor, just in time to find that the area we are in is slowly turning into a crowded and busy stadium, and there are people walking up behind us, trying to gently spray us with a different mind control mist, again trying to take everybody over. Amy and Rory (or perhaps Amy and River) have already started to collapse, but I try to throw myself into respiratory bypass, to avoid breathing the stuff in, as I start fighting back against those around us, and trying to free my fallen comrades. It's a minor bit of the usual kind of hunt and chase dream bits, as we fight our way free again, just to find we're now facing a fourth challenge.

It seems to be something in the air (all of these seem to be something in the air), but now they are somehow causing massive distrust between generations. Nobody over about 30 trusts anyone under that age, and vice versa. I am the odd one out, as I seem to kind of switch back and forth between the two groups in which I accept and am accepted, and Amy and Rory have enough trust for me that they can fight it off slightly. But we are running around in what I think is a small village in England, fighting off the rest of the town folk who are still under outside control, as we fight against bobbies, vicars, and regular people. Near the end, I may even find myself morphing into Harry Potter, hoping the Doctor may come to save us, as I wonder if my aunt's dislike of me could possibly be because of the mind control, though I know Uncle Vernon is just a jerk, plain and simple.
    7. Lucid: Do You Really Want to Mess with Me in My Own Dream?

      by , 12-24-2013 at 09:48 AM
12-19-2013 -- [Sleeping poorly, kept waking up, but I think eventually I was only dreaming I was waking up. Weird stuff. Lucid. Sex, rape, and violence ahead.] I am driving along in Joe's SUV when somehow the power steering goes out, but it is really strange and kind of intermittent. I think I am trying to do some sort of mystery shop or something, though I am not really sure. Anyway the steering is almost impossible at one slow speed, and then works fine at another speed just slightly slower or slightly faster, and I am trying to get the perfect speed so that I can actually manage to drive the car. I think there is a tiny bit about talking to my sister (maybe), or perhaps not. The first bits are rather choppy, as again, I think I am drifting in and out of sleep. Maybe.

I find myself at a hotel, and I seem to be kind of changing out beer barrel-like bottles of soda syrup for the fountain drinks, and as part of a mystery shop am somehow taking one of the large barrels and trying to load it into the bike with a basket that the car has turned in to. I manage to get it into the basket, and am trying to get the bike lined up so that I can try to drive out of here, when a couple of crazy (but kind of attractive) Oriental women come driving up in their car. I am somehow several yards away from my bike, all of a sudden, walking toward it, when they start to back up right into where the bike is sitting. I'm calling out "No!" and they are winking and smirking at me, making sure that I know that they know exactly what they are doing. They crush and mangle the bike between their car and the wall, and I am suddenly furious. Thing is, I know I am dreaming, but I am furious that they are intentionally messing with me.

      Spoiler for sex and rape:

I am just about done anyway, when this rough looking character seems to want to come to their aid. I can tell that he is a thief, so I decide to get a little more revenge by letting him know that the two women (who are staying in the hotel) have something very valuable in their suite. So he leaves them and starts upstairs, to break into the suite. Meanwhile I just fly up the side of the building, sneak in the window, and grab whatever the valuable is, not only stealing it, but framing the thief in the process. Mess with me in my dream, will you? I'm casually making my way out the window when the thief triggers an alarm or something, and he comes rushing to the window. He throws himself out, using some kind of harness or parachute to slow his descent, and as he leaps, he spots me and realizes he has been set up.

I have no harness, parachute or gadgets, but I don't need any ... its my dream! I fly down several stories, and fly into a parking garage, mostly under control, just slightly wild, and almost knock over a couple walking through the garage. I am not 100% sure, but they look like they are probably Rose and Mickey from Doctor Who. Meanwhile, police cars are screaming into the area to check on the alarm, and Rose and Mickey realize they are in the wrong place at the wrong time. They duck behind a car as a police car drives by, swinging it's search light into the parking garage. (At this point I notice that the front of the police car is slightly crumpled, like it has been in an accident, though this fact has no affect on the dream.) I turn myself invisible before the cop can see me, but Mickey is getting more and more nervous, and suddenly makes a break for it, making himself look horribly guilty, and attracting the attention of all the police.

He is quickly caught, and he has no reason to try and protect me, so he explains about the guy who flew out of the hotel and into the parking garage, and then turned invisible. The cop is kind of skeptical, but glancing around the area, as I try to shift away from him, it seems he can catch glimpses of my movement out of the corner of his eye. He suddenly calls out to all the other police that he caught a glimpse of one of "them", someone with some sort of power who turned themselves invisible. Suddenly I am backing up from a bunch of cops reaching out and grabbing for my invisible figure in a scene very reminiscent of Harry Potter backing away from Filch and Snape in the first movie. Suddenly there are six or seven cops, male and female, plain-clothes and in uniform, all chasing me. They can't see me, except a brief flicker in the corner of the eye, but that's enough to keep them crowding ever closer. A couple of them are blindfolded, to enhance their other senses, and one of them seems to be a strange whip-creature, flailing long, thin tentacles at me, trying to score a touch which I somehow know might poison me, and things are getting tighter and tighter.

I make a break for it, and try to fly out of the structure, but somehow they have been getting ready for me, and there are strong, but thin, nearly invisible wires strung everywhere that I trigger and have to punch my way through to get out of the parking garage, and when I do, that drops a strong, heavy net on me. By this time, I have had enough. I turn visible as I tear apart the net, and am soon surrounded by the cops. I start to warn them off. "This is a dream. It is my dream. I am all-powerful in it." I point to one guy. "Your pants are going to fall!" Suddenly his pants are around his ankles. I point at another. "You're about to trip." He flops over backward onto his butt. "Sorry for this!" I point at another one and transform him into some sort of furry animal, perhaps a weasel. I can clearly remember another lucid dream I once had, where it was starting to turn into a nightmare (can be read here) and explain to the cops that I could conjure up a full-blown nuke and blow the entire dreamscape to kingdom come. "Do you really want to mess with me?!?" Most of the cops start backing off, but one big black cop (when I wrote the dream down, I knew specifically who he looked like, but didn't write it down, and now it is gone) is stupidly brave or an absolute idiot, and grabs me, so I tell him he is going to fall down and his stomach is going to explode. The others are seriously backing off now, but not quick enough to avoid being lightly coated with bits of blood and skin as his belly explodes over everyone.

I start to fly off, but everybody who has been in the area is now convinced I am a god, and I am surrounded by people calling out for me to do things for them. Some are nothing more than greedy, selfish users who just want wealth and valuables, but many others are desperate, homeless, or horribly sick or injured. The ones who are truly in need, I feel for, but I am not god, I am just dreaming. I am only limited by what I can conceive of, but the mass of people calling out for help are large enough that it is more than I can conceive of. I land in a convertible next to a slim, attractive blonde woman, and I pull aside her top and start playing with her nipples, but neither of us are really into it. I just can't stop thinking about all these hurting people.

Meanwhile, I spot another thin woman who is not so attractive, and is very hillbilly-ish. She seems to be a cross between the wife of the farmer who gets turned into the 'Edgar suit' in the first Men in Black movie and Cletus's wife on the Simpsons, and she is calling out for help for her husband, who cannot leave their car. I glance over at him, and he has a cheap mechanical heart made from a gallon milk jug, sitting in an almost non-existent torso, and is obviously in bad shape. This is at least somewhat beyond me, but I lay hands on him and start to pray for him, hoping I have enough faith to do some good. Thankfully new skin starts to grow around his torso, and I seem to have managed to bring forth some serious healing for him. One of their kids is a teenage daughter who no longer believes in anything at all, and I am trying to figure out some way to help her, but that one is going to take some thinking. They have a slightly younger son who is a little pudgy, and reminds me a bit of Pugsley from the Addams Family, who is working on some sort of school assignment, and is trying to make either a sword or a musical instrument (which it is changes moment to moment) from a bit of scrap, and I move over to him to start doing something.

The mom is trying to stop me, not wanting me to do it for him, as she wants him to get whatever grade he earns, and learn from the experiment. Instead she calls out for me to just make him some candy or something. But she doesn't realize what I am doing. I am not making whatever it is for him, I am just changing the scrap he is working with into a very fine and valuable piece of lumber so that if he does fine enough work with it, the finished product may be worth a lot of money. Leaving him to do the work, but greatly increasing the potential value of that work. As soon as I finish that, I wave my hand and the candy the mother asked for rains down on both children.
    8. Runescape Falling Stars, Doctor Who, and the Kitchen Maze

      by , 12-24-2013 at 09:37 AM
11-27-2013 -- [Dreams are weird! Slept all night, many hours, dreamed almost nothing, or at least nothing I could remember. Was sitting in bed this morning, mostly awake and relaxing. Drifted off for a couple minutes, and had the following crazy, all-over-the-place dream that is longer and more detailed than almost anything I have dreamed for a week or two.]

So I am standing around at the Falador west mine, trying to do some mining when a blue structure that looks much like the TARDIS appears next to me, and several vaguely monkey-like aliens start spilling out of it like some sort of bizarre flash mob, and seem to be ready to attack me, except suddenly I hear this whistling sound getting louder and louder as a shadow appears on the ground, and everything shakes as a falling star crashes to earth right next to me. This thing is quite large, and I think it has to be at least a size 8 or 9. I run over to make the tag and collect the bonus xp when there is a second bang, and a small star (size 1 or 2) slams down right next to it. I am wondering if I am going to be able to collect the bonus xp twice. But as I try to touch the second star, things shift.

I find myself on a small, sandy hill, kind of sinking into the sand, trying to keep my balance, and as I glance at the mini map, I find I have shifted perhaps a quarter of a screen over, and start trying to make it back to where the two stars just landed, except something seems to be trying to keep me away. It's really weird. I finally manage to force myself back to the right spot, except the stars are gone, the alien flash mob is gone, and the blue TARDIS-like box has turned into a cross between a large robot suit and an astronaut's outfit. I'm kind of walking around it when a government agent who is dressed kind of like a 30s hard-boiled detective, and looks kind of Mel Gibson shows up. He thinks I am the alien who arrived in the suit, and is trying to force me back into it so he can lock me in it and cart me off to experiment on or something.

I am wrestling with him, trying to get away, while explaining that I am not the alien, when the truck that we are standing behind starts to move. He throws me to the ground, hopefully so that I will be unharmed as the truck passes over me, but since it is very close to the ground, he may just be trying to get me ran over. Sigh. But thankfully the truck only moves a couple of inches, then stops. I stand up and find myself standing next to what almost seems to be the Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo, and as I turn, I see my online friend Maddie, who seems to be pulling a t-shirt over her head. "Hey, I'm almost nude, changing clothes here," she snaps at me, and I turn my back to her, while turning red.

A few seconds later she taps me on the shoulder and as I start to turn around, I find myself in a sort of maze of dark, narrow passages in what seems to be a food storage area in a sort of large restaurant kitchen. I am winding my way through shelves of food supplies and prep tables and the like, avoiding a slightly glowing yellow goo on the floor that I am trying desperately not to step in. Dangerous, icky stuff. I manage to walk out of the area backward, while still managing to avoid stepping in anything, and find myself in a large, wide open warehouse loading dock area that is still quite dark, but lights are just starting to flash on all over the place as people come running in trying to find out who has broken in and why.
    9. Variations on the Death of Sanity

      by , 09-26-2013 at 12:57 PM
09-26-2013 -- [Very long, detailed, funny dream, that like usual, I can not remember well enough to really do justice to it. I literally woke chuckling to all the insanity I'd just been through.] I am at a hotel or something, almost certainly at or near Walt Disney World, and I am with Dale. He's on the last full day of his vacation, and is stressing out about going home the next day. He's worried about packing everything and getting the rental car returned and all.

So I am walking him through it all step-by-step, and telling him it will all go smoothly and be easy to get everything done, and he is starting to calm down. Meanwhile, we seem to be eating in a little restaurant or cafeteria that seems more like it is in a school than a hotel (hints of FCM at IWU), and Dale is mentioning how he ended up writing some sort of sarcastic bit for a small humor newsletter, but what was supposed to be one little bit has grown into three, and he's handed them to me to read, and as I am doing so (and nothing ever reads well in dreams) the publication is growing from a Teens Today-size 11x17 folded-into-four-page handout to a Hornet-sized newspaper to a multi-page, multi-section full-size newspaper like the Orange County Register, which I am having trouble folding to carry under my arm.

Meanwhile, Dale has just taken out his trombone and has walked into the back of a classroom and sat down with his instrument as a very no-nonsense teacher and a bunch of students start to walk into the room. It seems Dale is sitting in on a rehearsal. The teacher is very tough and demanding, but all Dale ever receives from him is the occasional brief nod, so he must be a very good musician. [In real life I am almost certain Dale doesn't play anything.]

As the teacher starts and continues to lead the group, I am very surprised to notice all the brass players are segregated behind a 'sound-proof' barrier that can't block the sound entirely, but lessens it, so the teacher isn't having to constantly warn the brass not to blare, and urge the woodwinds and strings to be louder, to be heard, and I am thinking to myself what a brilliant idea it is, and wishing we had it back when I was in band. But Dale is not behind it, so I guess the trombone is a woodwind in this dream.

Anyway, they play for a bit, and then they seem to take a little break, and while the professor is giving his students small bits of individual instruction, I am making a few comments (about the vacation, not the music) to Dale, and though I am afraid the music teacher will snap at me, he doesn't. The teacher is a sort of a mixture between Mr. Eubanks (one of my teachers, though not a band teacher), Pat Moran, and Lisa Simpson's music teacher.

Soon the whole class is moving, and it seems like we move about a corridor over. It is like we are moving from a practice room to a performance hall, and starting to prepare for an actual concert or something. But there are more and more people walking in and getting involved, and lots of 'guest stars,' both from TV and from my past. Tony Shalhoub seems to be puttering around, and Ron Howard seems to be playing an instrument, and wondering how things are going to play out, but they are both very young. (Ron is Happy Days age, and Tony resembles his character in Galaxy Quest.)

There is a young lady who is top of her class, and very proper, but kind of stuck up (a sort of cross between Sharon Newkirk's brilliance and Cordelia Chase's attitude) who is supposed to be one of the star performers, but she has managed to do something to anger the professor, and he just points her to an out-of-the-way corner and orders her to sit down and shut up, which has her pouting and angry.

Meanwhile, there is a very flashy and flamboyant piano player, a kind of a cross between Liberace and Elton John, very forward, demanding, and visual, who is just passing through, but sees a piano, and can't help but sit down and start to play, and the professor tolerates it, but makes it plain he expects him to behave, and amazingly enough, manages enough presence that the flamboyant player meekly agrees.

So they are all starting to tune up and prepare, and Dale is still hanging in the background, out of the way, but ready to play. Since he is not one of the students, he doesn't want to put himself forward at all, but he is still going to sit in and play along. Meanwhile, Shawn Spencer is also here, and is his usual insane self, and is coming up with all sorts of ideas on how to make the concert or opera or whatever it is supposed to be, and somehow the strict, demanding, controlling professor finds almost all of his insane ideas to be interesting, and is largely giving him free reign, and thereby allowing chaos to spread incredibly.

So the people are wandering in and out, music is played, Shawn is rewriting both the show and bits of music on the fly (at one point he walks by the piano player, throws in a hand, and adds a small riff mid-song before walking off) and though I expect both the flamboyant pianist and the controlling director to be furious, they seem much more bemused, almost sort of "Yes, that does work nicely."

The girl is complaining that she isn't being allowed to do anything, and it's just not right! Ron Howard is having fun, but confused as can be about what is happening, and Shawn is getting more and more wild in his ideas, which doesn't bother the controlling professor at all, though it certainly ought to! Things are getting more and more surreal, and the audience is just laughing hysterically and taking it all in. It is chaos ... brilliantly orchestrated chaos!

Finally things end and we all start filing out. I want to tell the professor how much I liked the concert, and also I still want to comment on that brass behind the barrier thing, but there is no way to get near him at the moment, and the press of the crowd more or less forces me into the practice room that we'd visited earlier. It seems that other students, not part of the group performing, but inspired by the concert's madness, have run rampant in here, and trashed the place.

The college staff have been working at cleaning the place up, and are somehow deciding to blame me for all this, but I am not having any part of it. I tell them they want the prestige of having this big name person in charge, and to keep him from walking off in a huff they give him complete and absolute control ... if he goes mad and his students destroy the place, the blame is completely theirs. They can't blame it on a random passing stranger! They don't like hearing this, and are swarming at me, trying to pull me down, but all they manage to do is to pull down all the materials blocking the door, and create an exit for me. I climb out of the room, and back into the main hall, where I find the crowds thinning.

I run into Dale, who I haven't seen in a while, and he is now late for his plane, but he feels the concert was well-worth it, and he isn't worried about it anymore. I start helping him grab all his luggage, and am sort of shrinking it to a small size, and causing it to all float around us (ala Harry Potter) while Kevin is complaining about everything, and saying he doesn't know what is going on.

We hurry toward the car, but as the crowds continue to thin, I practically run right in to the professor, and decide I have to speak to him for a moment. But now he is tired, and winding down, and has been talking to people for quite a while, and may be starting to second guess himself a little, and he seems really iffy about talking to me.

I tell him something like "That was crazy, and insane, and hilarious, and absolutely brilliant, but I have to tell you two things. The first is a quote from one of the Superman movies: 'You can't ...' I mean, 'You don't ...' 'If you think you can ....' Never mind. It's not important." Now he is starting to smirk, and seems to be getting to be in a better mood.

"The second thing is this. I used to be a music student ... never again!" I insist, worried that he'll think I want to ask him for lessons or something. Then I start to mention the constant warnings to the brass not to blare, and everybody else to be louder, but after the first couple of words, he is repeating back what I am saying, just a split second after me, then saying it with me, then saying is just an instant before me, like that odd monster out of the Doctor Who episode Midnight. Before I can get too frightened and freak too much, he breaks it off to make a comment about how the strange thing is, they don't have that segregated bit here in the performance hall, only in the practice room.

About this point, I woke up chuckling to myself about the madness of the dream.
    10. Runescape and Doctor Who Quest Leads to Phone Problems

      by , 08-10-2013 at 03:58 PM
08-10-2013 -- Kind of a cross between Doctor Who and a Runescape quest, though much more has faded than I would like. Sigh. Anyway, early on there are some bits where the 10th Doctor is running around, but eventually he seems to more or less disappear, though somehow he is still speaking to me and giving me advice as things continue, some sort of mental connection. He may be in danger, or perhaps I am. I find myself in a large building, wandering around, and trying to get things done.

Somehow I have this giant flute, sort of. It is about five or six feet long, and kind of hard to play. It has five or six holes in its length that allow the playing of five or six notes, and I know I am supposed to play all the notes in order as part of the quest. But it is so big, it is kind of difficult to get it to play the notes, and takes a lot of air. I manage to play the first four notes fairly easily, but the fifth note is very difficult, and I seem to be getting nothing but air. It is also getting harder and harder to hold the thing, and I am finding it more and more difficult to remember which end to blow in, and it keeps trying to roll over in my hands, and can't be played if it is upside down.

I finally manage to blow enough air to get the fifth note, and continue on to the sixth, which takes the same hard work, and as I finish blowing, a small, glowing ball of 'stuff' pops out of the end of the flute. Something jamming it up might be why it was so hard to play the last couple of notes. The ball is about two inches in diameter, and glows a light blue, and seems sort of goopy if you get what I mean, when I kind of scrape off the goop I am left with almost a small sort of amulet or medallion with a sort of a logo or crest on it, and it is the new crest that I have earned to represent myself with the finishing of this quest.

I soon run into Dale, who seems to have been working on the construction skill, because he has built a large new home, but is worried because he hasn't built any furnishings for it, though he has decked it out with tons of flags and banners and some pennants showing his colors, crests and accomplishments. I get a whisper from the 10th Doctor that I ought to see about adding some new flags and pennants to my rooms making use of my new crest, and Dale is a little hesitant about this, not knowing anything about this odd Doctor Who quest that has somehow found its way into Runescape.

We seem to be discussing this at church in Buena Park, and I am guessing a service has just gotten over, because we are in the process of leaving, and dodging around slow moving people who are just standing around talking. When I reach the parking lot, I find myself approaching my Jimmy, which is pulling a small trailer, along the lines of one a landscaping company might use. It seems I am not used to pulling it around, because my parking takes up not two spaces, which I would expect, but four (2x2), because I couldn't get the trailer straight.

I load up and start to drive out of the parking lot, but I seem to have sat my red cell phone on the roof of the truck as I was climbing in, and forgot it there because while I am driving out the driveway along the side of the church, it falls off the roof and comes apart as it hits the ground. I curse to myself, put the vehicle in reverse, and back up 10 or 15 feet to where it fell off, and get out to pick it up. I find a bunch of people are standing around in the road just chatting and talking, and one of them is a slightly odd looking fellow, looks like the young teep with the thin mustache from Babylon 5, the one who looks slightly odd. He is fiddling with my phone and trying to tell me how badly I broke it, and he gets mad as I take it away from him.

It has sprung apart, and inside it looks more like a hard drive or something (with the ribbon cables and things) and it seems he has been twisting and wrapping the cable in odd ways that couldn't have happened in a simple fall like that, and has been messing the phone up far worse. He seems to think because I dropped the phone, he has a right to take it and do what he wants with it, and I don't have any right to pick it up again and try to fix it. But I take it, straighten out the ribbon as best I can, and try to fit it back together. It isn't perfect, there are now a couple of cracks where things don't fit together as perfectly as they used to, but it stays together pretty well, and starts up when I turn it back on, though there are some glitches on the screen that remind me of the night it fell in the toilet, before it dried out inside the next day. Still it seems to be working all right.

I climb back into the truck (which somehow involves having to pull it down from where it is floating perhaps 10 feet in the air, so I have to drag it down far enough to climb in) and am trying to situate myself and get it in gear, all while holding the phone in my hand. I manage to get in and get moving, and turn out of the parking lot onto Page. As I am driving along Page, this crowd of people stays with me, and the punk who wants the phone keeps trying to get it from me while riding along in his wheelchair. Somehow the damaged phone has half turned into a damaged room to the truck, which no longer fits tightly, so he keeps sticking his hand in and trying to steal the phone from me. He is annoying me enough that I half try to run his wheelchair off the road.

Soon I turn onto Stanton, and am heading toward the Buena Park Mall, just moving along, when suddenly we are all walking rather than driving, and as I feel my pocket, I realize my phone is missing again, and turn around just to see the same punk playing with my phone and trying to take it apart as bold as you please. I take it back from him yet again, remind him it isn't his, and he doesn't have the right to steal it from me, and give him a spanking to try and get the idea across!
    11. I AM the 12th Doctor!

      by , 07-20-2013 at 02:11 AM
07-16-2013 -- I am at the Hickory house, but it is present day. I was inside, but was being kind of hassled by mom, so I headed outside to take a nap in my car. Except for some reason I end up laying on the ground outside my car where I can look under it and see the rest of the yard. My sister is leaving along with an attractive friend of hers, and I find myself watching the attractive legs while they leave.

A little boy (don't know who he is) comes over and tells me that my mom said for me to get inside. Rather than have any fights about it, I get up and head to my first bedroom, and try to go to sleep, but the door lock doesn't work, and the kid follows me into the room, and keeps bugging me about stuff. Soon he is in my closet, going through my junk, and really starting to bug me.

His mom comes in, and she is a very attractive blonde, though I can't quite place her. (I realize later that it is River Song, but I don't recognize her because her hair is a lot less frizzy than usual.) She seems to be berating the kid about going through my stuff, but it turns out to be much more about berating me. She has the kid pulling out two keyboards from my closet (one I really once had, a small one that was about two octaves short of a full keyboard, and the other full-size) and she somehow starts to push them out a door in the second floor of my room, which until this moment never had a second floor. She claims it was always there, and I just never noticed it before ... suggests that if I don't believe her, I should just ask my roommate Randy (Marcos house).

I am trying to get my keyboards back, so I kind of chase them out of the room and the house, and over to a mall-like area. River continues to berate me, complaining that I don't care about anybody, not even my relatives, and claims that, a few weeks ago when I met David Tennant and Matt Smith I jostled a relative aside as I was getting a picture with them. (In my defense, I would like to point out it was a relative that I didn't even know I had, and I only jostled them accidentally.)

I tell her I don't know what she is talking about, and she proceeds to tell me she is going to send me back in time to 1969 so I can change some things. I say I think she means 1976 (because in this dream '69 and '76 are easy to confuse for some reason), because I have often imagined going back in time to when I was 7 years old and living my life over again to do things better, and try to fix a few big mistakes in the world, if I could, at the same time.

So somehow River sends me back in time, merging me with my younger self two or three times, and it is very hectic and rather crazy. This part of the dream comes across largely as a chase dream, sometimes being chased by people and creatures, sometimes being the one doing the chasing. Parts of it involve government agent Diane Fornell (NCIS) getting caught in a sting operation, and the crooks removing her arms and legs when they catch her, in a sort of flashback to a dream last night where Neville Longbottom was talking about the same thing. Now missing her legs, Diane turns out to be the relative that I bumped and didn't recognize. Turns out she was a big fan of mine, and my not recognizing her sent her over the edge into depression.

Somehow the crooks have caught me and done something to me that forces me into a regeneration, and in the process I grab Diane and hug her, and share my regenerative energy with her, somehow causing her missing limbs to regrow, as I also hug and kiss Abby Scuitto, who it seems I am becoming an item with. [And in two or three dreams in just a few days. Weird.] Meanwhile, I regenerate into the 12th Doctor, but somehow in the three times that I relived my life, I changed parts of history. David Tennant turned out not to be available right at the start of the 9th Doctor's regeneration, so Catherine Tate ended up being the 10th Doctor, and David ended up being her companion for a season, and eventually becoming a somewhat twisted version of the Doctor Donna.

So I am now the 12th Doctor, and I find myself in the middle of the bad sting operation that cost Diane her limbs, but I continue going through and changing the timeline again and again, making a small change here, a small change there, so that when the head crook tells his 20 or so goons to remove her limbs, every single one of them has been replaced with government agents, all of whom turn their guns on the head crook, avoiding Diane ever having her limbs removed in the first place. Decent beginning to my new regeneration, and something screwy enough that what's his name might have actually written it!
    12. Government Threatens Super Heroes and Flying Over the TARDIS

      by , 07-20-2013 at 02:09 AM
07-16-2013 -- Somehow I am with dad in his truck, driving up and down an air field in between the planes landing. The landing strip is kind of narrow, wide enough to hold the plane body, but the wings extend out over the grass on either side, and it is on that grass strip that we are driving, hence the need to do it in between planes. There are a couple planes that are missing the runway and crashing and burning, and oddly, a plane with the Adobe logo on the tail which is flying around trying to spy on people who might be pirating Adobe products.

Soon I find myself at home with mom. There is a paper kite that was designed and printed out in Illustrator lying on the ground, and we are somehow printing out these odd little plastic ID labels directly from the printer. Very strange stuff.

I have a friend (or perhaps a frenemy) who seems to be developing a new power and can cause their fingers to produce flames. I do the same. As I start to wonder if they can do some of the other things that I can do with my strange dream powers, they hesitantly start to rise in the air and start to fly. I do the same, but a lot more skillfully, because I have been doing it longer. I wonder if they realize this is a dream, like I do, but before I get the chance to ask them, things start to heat up.

More and more people around us are suddenly starting to develop these hero powers, and as we do, we are being approached by government agencies who are threatening us with imprisonment and experimentation if we do not join their particular agencies, and they are getting more and more threatening about it. Things are getting really tense, and the situation is bad enough that Martha Jones calls for the Doctor, even though he only just left her, and thankfully he hears her and returns to help calm the situation down.

Somehow I end up flying above the TARDIS, which has no ceiling, looking down on a wild maze of rooms where I can see all eleven Doctors and dozens of companions running about. It seems that all times are concurrent within the TARDIS. Interesting. Meanwhile, I spot a personally autographed copy of No Coins, Please which was dedicated to the Doctor because at one point he saved Gordon's life, and I just find that to be amazingly cool!
    13. The Doctor, Amy and Rory are Being Replaced by Aliens; BC and I are Stealing from Crooks in Library

      by , 07-01-2013 at 01:44 PM
07-01-2013 -- [At least two very cool dreams from last night, even if I can remember very little of them ... stupid normal person dream recall! I will put down what I can of what I remember, but the detail won't be there ... at least not as much as I would like.]

I am at the Hickory house, in the side yard. I'm next to the section of the neighbor's side yard that has been roofed in to form a sort of long, narrow shed, and as always he has been yelling at us to stay away from it. I don't know how it has happened, but as I am walking along the side yard, doors are being created in the wall of the house, except they don't lead into the house, but into large, empty warehouse-like rooms. I am here with what I am pretty sure is the tenth Doctor, and soon we are joined by Amy, and then by Rory.

Rory is the last one to join us, and something seems a little off about his behavior, he just doesn't quite seem to be himself, and I start to realize he has somehow been grabbed and replaced by the aliens who are chasing us around. Soon Amy is acting a little different, as well, and I realize they have really managed to infiltrate us, and I have to manage to stay further and further away from them, while still trying to find some way to get close enough to the Doctor to try and warn him, all while the aliens are trying to beat down these doors which almost seem to appear and disappear to get in at us.

As things get more hectic and involved, I suddenly find myself half-playing Roller Coaster Tycoon, building short shuttle coasters with pretty much just the wave of a hand, making them grow longer or shorter with just a thought, and things never do seem to get back to normal. [The last few days I have not been sleeping well, not been remembering dreams, and much of what I have been able to remember are vague, repetitive dreams of roller coasters and queues, actually quite boring, and the kind of thing that you dream when you aren't sleeping well.]

Don't know how we get there, or what is going on, but I find myself in a big building that seems quite familiar. It is a three or four story building, quite large in scale. Seems like a large mansion or something, with libraries, offices, hallways and the like. I believe I have dreamed of it before, though in the past it has been more house-like, and this time it seems to be bigger and more involved, somehow. Anyway, no idea what we're doing here at first, but as the dream continues, it turns to me and BC running around this place and hunting for things, while trying to hide what we're doing and stay out of trouble.

The central area has a large touch of the zebra mezzanine about it, except we can look down three or four floors to the ground floor far below. Somehow I end up quite a way down a couple of long halls to the east, where Anne seems to be distracting and leading along a couple of young guys ... to what purpose I do not know. Though I keep my distance, and am somewhat disguised, I am afraid she will still know I am there, and recognize me. Thankfully it seems to have been long enough, and my disguise seems to be good enough, she doesn't pick up on me, at all. I safely make it past her and back to the mezzanine.

There are still plenty of people looking for us, but BC has found what she was looking for, perhaps an old manuscript, or at least some sort of records, and she has snuck into another room further to the west. I provide enough of a distraction that she isn't noticed. There are more tough guys after me, but I eventually find the painting that I am after, and head on to the west as well. I think I have lost all pursuit, but it turns out I am being followed, just not as close as I could have expected. We seem to be in almost a sort of auction house, with lots of counters where they can collect the monies paid for various things and wrap them up for the customers to take.

Since I have noticed the people following both BC and I, we are both on the ground, crawling around the floor, trying to stay out of site. The room seems to be about 2/3rds women, almost all of them very attractive, dressed in fancy dress from perhaps the 40s or 50s, and very gorgeous. Since many of the dresses are on the shorter side, and I am on the ground, there's also a lot of very pleasant glances of very nice legs in very sexy stockings and garters and the like. Oddly enough, none of them are concerned about us climbing around on the floor, so they don't give us away.

The bad guys are getting closer and closer, but one of them calls the other away at some sort of announcement or something, and they seem to wander off to handle some other sort of problem. Right about that time, the number for my package has been called, much quicker than I would have expected, and so I am able to get up, pick it up, and get out. (It kind of seems like we replaced the scheduled auction items that we 'bid' on with the much more valuable stuff we found and stole in the house, so that we are getting much more rare stuff and stealing it away from the bad guys.) But as I am exiting the pick-up room, I find myself being stalked by the thugs again. It seems them being called off was a bit of a ruse to make us relax our guard.

Almost immediately I managed to kill one of the crooks, throwing him over a railing so he would fall several floors to his death, but when I try to do the same to the second one, I end up fighting with him over a sort of crevice, and we're struggling enough that there is just as much chance it could be me falling to my death, so we soon move back onto the main floor, and it is a tremendous battle. Each of us has struck the other, numerous times, and we've both collected quite a few injuries, but we are very evenly matched. The guy is angry, assuming since I made it to the package room much later than BC, she had already left, and so assumes they have missed her, but he is determined that I don't get away. He doesn't realize that my number was called much sooner than expected, so she is actually still in the package area. Soon I have him pinned on the ground, and I know it is likely that as soon as I lose my grip he'll be free again, and the fight will go on. But for the moment, I've got him pinned with his face right in the carpet, held firmly enough that he can't seen anything.

About this time, BC comes by with her package, walking along with a stunning blonde who she is taking home with her. I have no idea why, but she is such a knock-out, I can't wait to get free, join them, and have some very pleasurable times. But for now, I have to keep the thug's face buried in the carpet well enough that he can't see them. Unfortunately, he manages to wriggle free of me just in time to catch a glimpse of BC leaving. Fortunately, as he starts to trash talk about what they'll do to her, he is distracted enough that I grab him and throw him over the railing before he can resist, and send him plunging to his death, leaving me free to follow BC and the blonde.
    14. Kitchen Sink Dream: Mardi Gras, Used Books, Rescuing Sylvester McCoy, Travel, plus more, and fragmen

      by , 05-23-2013 at 05:14 PM
05-23-2013 -- [All over the place, took place between about 1:30 am and 3:15 am.] I have no idea where I am at when the dream starts, but am in a weird store, kind of a cross between an antique shop and a thrift store, with lots of odds and ends and big and little crap. Something about the place is familiar, and I think I have dreamed about it (or something quite close to it) in the last year or two sometime. Also some ties to the bookcase in the dream from a day or two ago, though no Wodehouse books this time. First I am looking at one of the small wire rack displays some libraries use for their paperback books, and come across a very old and much-worn copy of Vic Crume's Wiz Kid and the Carnival Caper adaption. (I wanted that book so much as a little kid, but didn't buy it the one and only time I ever saw it.)

Soon I am walking further into the store, and am in a sort of sloping hallway on a hill, approaching a single short bookcase (maybe 4 feet tall and 4 feet wide) sitting horizontally across the hall, almost blocking the path through it, and am looking at more books on it. I see most of the books from the bookcase a coupe of days ago, including the large collection of Choose Your Own Adventure titles, but this time there are also two four book gift boxes of CYOA books, one with four titles set in the X-Men universe, the other with four set in the Star Wars universe. I pull a couple of books off the shelf to look at them, and seem to start a landslide, with about half the books on the entire bookcase falling off. I start to try and pick them up and put them back on the bookcase, but now it is falling over, and I can't get it to stay up where it was. I finally turn it sideways, so that now there is more space to walk by it on either side (it was like this | -- | but is now like this | | | ) and it becomes more sturdy, so I am able to start putting the books back on it.

About this time I am attacked by some nutty demented dwarf (Billy Barty type, not long bearded fantasy type) and as he keeps throwing himself at me, I have to fight back. I grab him by his clothes, and am throwing him around the room, swinging him against one wall and then another. Eventually he is latching on to the chandelier above our heads, and as I continue swinging him around, he brings down tons of stuff, including the chandeliers, and brings it all (and himself) crashing to the ground some 20 or 30 feet below. What a mess! I quickly end up exiting the store.

I find myself with my car, which doesn't seem to have a roof or sides, but is just wide open. I have tons of stacks of paper (mostly note paper) on a wide variety of subjects, including some writing, but with the car so open, I am afraid of how much stuff might blow away while I am driving. At this point I think I am in Chicago, and am about to drive back to California. There is an interstate freeway that makes the trip almost directly, and passes through Indiana and Kentucky on the way, so I plan to stop and look for a couple of Old Spaghetti Factory restaurants and some Hostess O's donuts on the way, but I've got a long trip ahead of me, and am really worried about my stuff. So I end up talking with my mom (who is dead) who is in the back yard of the Hickory House (where we lived in CA) which is now somehow in Chicago, and she agrees to put the rest of my stuff in storage, since she already has tons of it, anyway. She leads me to the corner of the back yard / side yard where I once tried growing corn, and helps me bury all the stuff in a pit I've dug here. I don't argue with her, but I am worried of rain and such.

I'm very happy to not have to worry about the stuff in my car blowing away, but now I would like to have some cassette tapes to listen to on the long car trip, and I just buried most of them. Worried about it, and looking for some tapes, I step out of the house and find myself standing on a long, curving driveway in front of a big Chicago hotel, where a lot of my stuff is laying on the ground where it might have fallen out of my car. It is the kind of stuff you might find laying on the floor after you have been cleaning a very, very messy room for a while, and you've gotten up all the big stuff, and all that is left is a few small items you haven't gotten to yet, and small bits of paper and detritus that you still have to clean up or vacuum away. Among this are several cassette cases, and I am hopeful, but they have all been run over, so are broken and damaged. [Happened a few days ago to my gas cap when I left it on my roof.]

This is all in the middle of the parking lot, and there are cars honking at me to get out of the way as I try to find any whole tapes, so soon I dodge out of the way and wander a few rows down in the parking lot. I start walking through a row of parked cars, but it quickly morphs to riding a bike down a path that seems to be for a combination of pedestrians and horses, and I seem to be moving against the flow. Making my way around the walkers is no problem, but the horses, walking three or four abreast and filling the whole path are a lot more difficult to dodge. They don't make room or get out of the way very well, and they seem to be slightly grumpy at the situation, and yet they aren't at all mad at me, they just don't like making room for somebody going the other way. Weird.

I make it through this area and head back up toward the hotel entrance, where I find myself in an odd sort of room where I seem to have instantly fallen asleep, because a few seconds later, mom is shaking me awake and I find myself in just my underwear, scrambling to find my clothes and shoes and get dressed. I'm supposed to follow mom to the cars so we can leave, but I decide to make one last stop at the strange shop. It is on a hill, and I walk in to find it very, very busy. There are customers everywhere, and about four people at registers behind the counter, and it is almost impossible to get anybody's attention. I explain about the bookcase and apologize for it, and for any trouble I caused them, and they tell me I will be welcome back at any time, that they actually really like the new layout from my moving the bookcase, and that the dwarf was to blame for the damage he caused by attacking me, so it's all good. I wander the store a little bit, and at the entrance to the upward sloping hallway where the bookcase was, I come upon a strange sight.

Sylvester McCoy (the 7th Doctor) is standing there wearing a space helmet (reminds me of a couple of the 10th an 11th Doctor stories) and his usual 7th Doctor outfit, being choked by a huge guy that looks kind of like Wreck-It Ralph. I run up to him and start to pry his hands away from Sylvester's neck while saying something like "Please stop choking Mr McCoy!" He just kind of grunts and tries to wave me away, but I manage to pull Sylvester free, and start to walk away. I soon find I have bought two of those small bubble packages you find in kids' gumball machines, and as I open them up, I find one contains two kind of mangled cassettes, and the other contains the box the two cassettes originally came from, and it is some kind of audio production Sylvester did (like Big Finish, but possibly not from that company), and I suddenly realize I may have interrupted a play or a recording session of some sort, and I'm a bit embarrassed.

I'm now standing outside the store, in Chicago (it still fells like I am in Chicago) though it is the home of Mardi Gras, and the hill I am on has the exact layout and buildings of Walt Disney World's Pleasure Island, though none of those buildings are being used for the Island's nightclubs. I can see the Mardi Gras floats making their way up the hill, while people are screaming for beads and things. I am about 2/3 of the way down the hill, and am standing by the store when McCoy walks out, and I start to follow him, hoping to apologize and tell him how much I loved his portrayal of the Doctor, but he almost seems to be avoiding me, and dodging into paths and alleyways. When I catch up to him, he is back with the guy who choked him and an attractive young woman who looks like a show girl, and the guy who looks like Wreck-It Ralph is saying his name is Dan Spivey. I ask him "Dangerous Dan Spivey? Like the guy from 80s Disneyland entertainment?" and a bunch of people walking by who look exactly like various Disney entertainers who are walking by ask me what I am talking about. I say I think I remember a Dangerous Dan Spivey from Disney entertainment back when I hung out there as a teen. [In reality, Dangerous Dan Spivey was a wrestler back in the early days of the WWF, I think.]

Anyway, by this time all the entertainers and Sylvester's group have wandered off, and the cassette tapes that I am trying to stick into the pockets of my large jacket have turned into 12 green apple lollypops. The thin, short-haired black woman at the meeting at First Baptist on Monday who somehow looked familiar is standing near me, and tries to seal some of my lollypops, but I catch her and pull them away from her, and a heavier black woman who seems to be her mother tells her something like "You can't do that, that's wrong ... but you might succeed if you try again." By this time we have reached the building that, at Pleasure Island, would be the Adventurer's Club, but here it isn't, and the black girl tries to steal my stuff several more times. By this time the lollypops are in my pockets, and I am pushing the girl's hands away, while the mother is berating me for daring to touch her daughter.

I eventually grab her hands in my arms and shove her away hard enough that she slams into a wall, as I explain that I am helping to teach her daughter not to try and steal ... at least from me, and the mother acts like I am a horrible person. Then I duck out the lower level back door by the river (lake?), and find myself walking in a kind of darkish alleyway where I come across chorus girls dressed up as Cadillacs. They are wearing costumes that look like full-sized Cadillac cars from the waist, up, while still having the usual nylon-wrapped gorgeous gams beneath, as they dance around in a Vegas-style show, and I wake up. Very odd.

Somehow I find myself in a public restroom with Carl, and it is one of the nicest, cleanest, and most private restrooms I have ever seen ... if you remember to close the stall door! D'oh! I push the stall door shut while Carl is doing the embarrassed 'I didn't have to see that' thing, as we discuss different job possibilities, as somebody familiar walks past and comments I ought to get a job doing what he does. I look at him and he looks much like a middle aged Andy Griffith, and I eventually recognize his uniform as that of a fire fighter. I am thinking I am in no shape to be a fire fighter, and he agrees with me, but says I could drive the truck and do record keeping, and stuff like that. I eventually start to recognize him, and place the name Conrad to him, but I can't quite remember where I know him from, then finally it clicks, Jeff's next door neighbor on Hickory. Turns out he moved right after I did, and now also seems to live in Orlando, and somehow we end up talking about internet connections.

In the dream, I have a rather cheap internet connection through GEnie or something like that (with hints of Prodigy thrown in), and am complaining about the signal I get, but he explains that I need to get two modems to double up the signal, and then it works much better. Very strange (and pointless) stuff. Soon I find myself literally running down I-4 with Dale, as we're trying to get to the airport on time to catch a plane back to CA (I think), and Dale is wondering if we are going to make it, as we pass his rental car, which ran out of gas. Dale says it is no big deal, and that the rental car company is coming for it soon, and will add a couple of gallons before they take it back.

We soon find ourselves boarding a bus, which as we try to make our way to seats is turning into a plane, we find ourselves taking two seats next to a guy in the window seat with a bag in his lap that looks like George Takei, but isn't. With Dale and I being big guys, and him with his bag, we ask if he is OK with us sitting there. He indicates he has had a bad day, is tired and sore, but our sitting there will not cause him any problems. Soon the plane is flying, and we are listening to the conversations around us, and a slightly older, attractive lady (about 55 to our 45) almost seems to be flirting with us. I'm shocked when suddenly Dale and this lady seem to be in one of the plane's restrooms making some very improper sounds, as this is nothing like him, and everybody on the plane can hear.

But it all turns out to be a practical joke, she and Dale come out of two different restrooms, and it turns out she was showing him the weird phone system the airline has installed in the lavatories, which connect all the bathrooms, and broadcast everything said across the entire plane. Very weird system. I've reached the point where I need to use the restroom (no intention of using the phone, though), but all of them are in use. And the keep being in use. And when I finally get to use one, the plane suddenly takes off without me. Things have gotten weird, and the lavatories are no longer on the planes, and it seemed to touch down for a couple of minutes to let people use the restrooms, just before the end of our trip (which is now flying into Orlando, instead of out.) I find myself on Landstreet Road, chasing after the plane, waving my hands before a truck almost backs into me. Turns out I was running down the road trying to flag down the airplane while in between two small trucks, and they are mad because my running isn't as fast as they want to drive. I dodge the truck, then start the slow walk down Landstreet and up Orange Blossom Trail to get home.
    15. Online Games with Mom, Sailing in Cardboard, Flying Transports in the Desert, Fighting as the Doctor

      by , 05-21-2013 at 05:33 PM
05-21-2013 -- [As always, earlier bits MIA.] Playing some kind of computer game, might be Runescape, though very little matches up. There is something that recharges a talent or skill or such (like a prayer alter, or a summoning obelisk) and in some way I can keep track of exactly one person who uses the obelisk, knowing what else they are doing while they are online. The problem is, I'm not interested in following anybody who is currently online. But finally I see somebody it might be fun to keep track of. I think it might be Skilledman, but if it is, he is using a different character name at the moment, with many more Ss.

I am just about to follow him (think of it like sending the thoughts of a VIP in Roller Coaster Tycoon to the screen, so you know what he is thinking of your park) when my mom shows up. She got a membership to the game long ago, but she never got very far, but she has finally decided she wants to learn this part of the game, and asks for my help. So I follow her, instead.

She wants to get fully involved, but one part of the game involves folding up little model boats (five or six inches long) made out of cardboard that you kind of poke free from the pre-cut spots on the piece of cardboard they gave you when you joined. Since that was several years ago, mom admits she long ago threw out the sheet of cardboard, so we have to go looking around the world, trying to find a couple of sheets that somebody else has thrown out.

So mom is out searching one area, and I seem to be searching near a beach, along with a cute girl who is following my orders. I send her onto the beach to look for some of the boat cardboard, and she comes back and says she didn't find any. I am almost sure I saw some there, so go down to the beach, myself. Unfortunately, there is no small cardboard for mom, but I do come across a guy who has made a life-size boat (around the size of a small power boat, but more like a rowboat) made entirely of cardboard. When I ask him about it, he explains he belongs to a group that makes these, and he has sailed it all the way up from Miami. I'm wondering how the thing didn't disintegrate in the water. He invites me to join them the next time they go sailing, but I think it is not likely.

Meanwhile, we do manage to find one of the right pieces of cardboard for mom, and we are heading back to the meeting place in the desert. We rejoin a group that seems to be mostly women (I think I am the only guy here), and we have this sort of wagon train of several large barge-like vehicles that float in the air, and we use them to cross the desert. At least one of them is a large barge filled with our water supply. I am new to this group, and I soon discover they are being ordered about by a rather mean alien fellow that looks kind of like Trakis from Babylon 5.

He pushes around the girls, gives them orders, tells them what to do, and is probably using them to do illegal stuff. When he starts to choke one of the girls, I attack him, and am soon choking him while holding him up against a wall. We're very evenly matched, and neither of us can beat the other, but I am able to stop him from attacking the ladies. Instead, he gives us our latest orders, supposedly from the government, and sends us into the desert to steal something, and also gives us a new module to replace an old one that is supposed to let the FBI keep track of where we are and what we are doing.

He leaves, and I explain to the ladies that I believe him. I think the new module will help the FBI keep an eye on us. Unfortunately, I think he has been using them to steal stuff for him, and is now framing them, so the FBI will come after us, as he goes and finds a new crew to steal for him. I say we have to destroy this new module so we can't be tracked, and we do a little reading, and discover the thing would have to be submerged in water to destroy it. One of the girls goes slightly crazy, and tears a hole in the side of the water barge, and water starts spilling out as she pushes the new module into the interior. I'm thinking there had to be a better way to do that!

Meanwhile, we're scrambling to get the caravan moving across the desert, when I quickly find myself facing Trakis again, but things are shifting a little bit. I am the 10th Doctor, and one of the attractive ladies is my companion, and Trakis is being chased by what seems to be another attractive lady. He is a minor villain, but really fairly harmless, but you can't say the same for the alien that is chasing him. I urge them both into the TARDIS while I face this thing, and it is trying to spit some green slime on me. I'm not sure if this green slime will take me over, or just burn me, but either way it is bad news, and therefore I am a little nervous that, while I dodged the mass she spit at me, I did seem to get splattered with a few drops. I'm soon running again, trying to stay away from it.

I am not sure, but the thing attacking me at the end might be the monster I faced with the Doctor (as opposed to as the Doctor) in this dream last November.
