    1. The CDL Class, the Chase, and the Jungle Restaurant

      by , 12-31-2013 at 08:23 PM
12-30-2013 -- On a college campus somewhere, probably Fullerton College, trying to finally finish registering for my CDL class, but every time I think I am close to finished, I find there is ever more that I have to do. So I am in the admissions office, filling out paperwork and trying to find out just how many more things I have to do, and they won't or can't tell me anything except the next one or two forms. It is maddening. I am running all around the building, being sent here and there for more forms, and finally get a little tired of it, and escape to a small office where I sit down to chat for a few minutes with Charles Purcell, one of the counselors from my high school. We're having a decent conversation, until we're interrupted by a couple of little who know him and are hugging and kissing him.

I excuse myself, and continue to wander around the school, where I find myself looking down some of the tops of some of the ladies in the office, enjoying the available view. In a small dining room, I come across several clowns and balloon artists I know from the Orlando area, and they are quietly discussing the latest news about the death of Don Caldwell, and I'm telling myself it can't be, as I try to find some paper in a nearby office, to write it down so I can do some internet research later and find out if it is true or not. I am hoping it is all a mistake, because I like Don. I am jotting down his age, which in the dream was something like 52 or 57, and a custodian walking by mistakes it for the number of a player on a sports team, and tries to strike up a conversation about it, which obviously doesn't work too well.

The dream is sort of lengthy with me continuing to wander around the office trying to get things sets up, though almost none of the details stick in my mind, and eventually I have left the building, and am heading on home to the Hickory house. I find myself on Crescent, just passing the nursery, pulling a wagon which for some reason I am calling a bus, as I draw it over the cracked and tilted sidewalk. For some reason, I start making odd wrong turns. I am directing myself with a compass, but I turn it so that north is whatever direction I say it is, rather than to actual north, as I find myself in odd areas from past dreams. I find myself in an area I remember driving another bus, which also involved goblins from the Harry Potter books, and the NCIS crew, though neither make an appearance in this dream. It is just the same area.

I soon find myself dodging around rail road crossings, and come to realize that I am somewhere in Tampa, when I find myself approaching a strange theme-park-like restaurant that seems to be a cross between Wolfgang Puck's and the Wilderness Lodge. It is either closed for the night, or perhaps has not yet opened, but if that is the case, the opening is drawing near. I head inside, anyway, though as I make it in, I find I am being chased by the guard collies that are watching the place. It is very strange being chased by about a dozen just slightly vicious, but highly gorgeous Lassie clones, but I am trying to get out of the way. I end up half swinging from the chandeliers, half swinging from vines in the trees which make up the roof of the restaurant, while workers who have spotted me come chasing after me. They are so determined to catch me that they are grabbing for anything near me, and seem to be pulling the entire place down around us. As far as I am concerned, this is not my fault!

As their net is closing in around me, I throw myself to the ground, and then slam through the kitchen doors, dodging this way and that until I make it outside and almost fly up and over a chain-link fence to safety. Problem is, while I have gotten away from the restaurant staff, I still find myself being chased by random smelly drunk people. Somehow I cause myself to throw up over this, which instantly causes them to throw up as well, distracting them so I can get away again. I am dodging around more railroad tracks, and soon find myself on a sort of roundabout, except this time I really am a train for a few minutes.

Soon I find myself on another sort of college campus (not the same one), where I seem to be trying to copy a forbidden record (possibly of Tom Lehrer songs) or perhaps trying to duplicate a very rare record so there is a back-up if anything happens to it, while getting ready to play it on the college radio station. They are trying to stop me, and recover the album, preventing any back-up copies from existing, though I manage to find a good place to hide it, nearly in plain sight. Meanwhile, I am still being chased, and dodging about here and there, while also kind of drifting in and out of sleep. Odd and entertaining.
    2. Ziva and the Wrestlers, Tom Drick and Betty White, and Cops Chasing Dad (Fragments)

      by , 01-17-2013 at 06:29 PM
01-15-2013 -- [My first day of using 5-HTP, and though my dreams seemed kind of vivid, they also seemed kind of short. And for some reason, I could not be bothered writing them down in great detail. I had two dreams, and this is the sum total of what I wrote down: Ziva, NCIS, and wrestlers at the BPM. Tom Drick, Betty White, and clowns at new church by Winn Dixie. Let's see how well I can expand this, a couple of days later.]

I was at the Buena Park Mall, on the east side near La Palma, half in and half out of the mall. I know I was watching some wrestling, and there were some good matches with some tough wrestlers, and yet they seem to be older matches from back in the 90s, even though I am watching them live.

Somehow, one of the wrestlers is Ziva, from NCIS, and I think she is working undercover, as am I. I think we are talking to some of the wrestlers like Brutus Beefcake and Rick Rude, and trying to figure out who are the faces and who are the heels at this point in time. Oddly enough, Ziva is pregnant at the time. Odd stuff.

      ---

01-15-2013 -- I find myself at a new Church located across the street from Winn Dixie on Orange Blossom Trail. Tom Drick is leading worship, and it isn't in place of Pine Castle UMC or Tarpon Springs UMC, but in addition to both the others. It seems he is turning into a work-a-holic, and is now leading worship at all three churches, simu;taneously.

So we're in this church, and Tom is leading songs, and Betty White seems to be speaking, and is somehow talking about working as a clown back in her early days, while Tom is running out the door, heading for one of his other services at one of the other churches. Familiar people (but nobody I can specifically identify) are running around, discussing things, and I'm just kind of relaxing.

Eventually things calm down and the service seems to be ending, and I find myself out in the parking lot. Betty White may be on a Segway, and seems to be getting ready to leave, and I think her for joining us, and what she had to say, and am trying to ask about her time as a clown, and she indicates that she was never a clown, though she may have played one on TV, and it is all very strange.

      ---

01-14-2013 -- [Since these are short dream fragments, I'm lumping them all together in this post.] Can't remember anything earlier, but I find myself at a dry cleaners, where I need to get some clothes cleaned or fixed, or even get some new clothes. A lot of the clothes seem to be western garb, and some of it is kind of wild looking. Also maybe hints of a security uniform, though not much.

The guy who is supposed to be cleaning the stuff is also giving me advice on what might be good clothes to wear, and is telling me I should get some more fabric, and he will make some more clothes that might go well with what I am already planning to wear.

Somehow I find myself with my dad in his truck, and he is driving me to a fabric store. We're in Buena Park on Crescent, and we're just north of the nursery, and he is driving on the wrong side of the street, because he just plans to dash past the nursery and pull into the driveway at the crossing guards' house, which is where the fabric store is supposed to be, and it is a pretty short distance.

Unfortunately, there is a cop right at La Reina, so we've got sirens after us as we turn in at the house. It turns out to be a bank, and we've gone inside, and dad is pretending to be drunk and falling asleep (how this would get him in less trouble I don't know), but somehow it allows him to knock out the cop.

So we're back on the road, just going a block further, to where we find ourselves in another bank. Dad is now really drunk, and Melody is here, taking care of him. More cops come in, and they are now grabbing me and dragging me out to his truck, even though I am a little kid, far too young to drive, as dad is passed out on the table.

They lead me to the and are badgering me about how I am too young to drive and how dare I drive, and being very rude, while I haven't driven at all, and am starting to get very angry with them, and am about to start yelling at them, before just flying away in disgust.
    3. Harry Potter and the Founder's Mirror

      by , 08-04-2012 at 08:01 PM
07-15-2012 -- I'm in my original bedroom in the Hickory House, which is a Hogwarts dorm room. I'm surrounded by piles and piles of trash and I'm shoving them around with a bunch of dorm mates making a half-hearted attempt to clean the place up. We're actually a lot more interested in learning a secret Ravenclaw spell that helps them keep the Slytherins at least slightly under control.

We Gryffindors learn it and abuse it for revenge, which leads to all-out warfare at the school. Thankfully the year is almost over, and we're leaving on the Express, but it is not a comfortable journey. There's a lot of magic being thrown around on the train ride, and it is starting to reach dangerous levels. I'm about to get between cars and try to release some of the magic so it can drain off into the countryside, but they've sealed the passages between cars.

At this point things have kind of shifted, and I'm halfway watching Harry, and halfway being Harry. There is a strange multi-timeline story going on, where there is a girl stuck in an inaccessible part of the castle, back in the founders' time. She's trapped in an area that is flooding, and is going to drown, and nobody can do anything about it.

Harry, in the present time, is working on some sort of project involving the Mirror of Ravenclaw, a long-lost artifact from the Founders' Era. Dumbles is trying to help, but really doesn't know what's going on. Harry has managed to recreate the mirror, and is sending it back in time along with a powerful cloak. The two items together can help save the girl.

Rowena Ravenclaw receives the cloak and the mirror, and manages to save the girl, then reveals that she never had any special mirror, and the rumored artifact that Harry 'recreated' was actually the mirror itself, which he sent through time. He was responsible for what he was trying to copy. The drowning girl was saved, somehow in the Smith's Food King parking lot. She half-turns into a guy, then turns back into a girl.

By this point, we are walking through the Disneyland parking lot, instead. Some of the girl's friends are telling her that they will meet her at the end of the night, in the employee parking lot near Harbor House. Problem is, they don't actually work there. I can understand their interest, but am explaining it is better to get a spot in Bambi than in Alice, anyway.

We're getting nearer the main entrance, and suddenly my sister Melody is there, and is two clues away from finishing a Penny Press crossword puzzle. She's going nuts about these last two clues, reading them out to see if anybody else knows them, and drawing thick lines in a grease pencil to make it easy to tell at a glance what the two clues still left to solve are.

We are now at the ticket gates, and I am now with my friend Dale as well as the girl rescued in time. Dale goes through the gate with a normal annual pass. I have one as well, luckily, but it is a key chain version, and is falling apart, like the old key chain I had for L.A. Fitness. They just barely get enough of a response from it and let me in.

It is raining heavily, and as we pass under the train station and reach Main Street, there is a really lousy parade going by. It's one of the really minimal parades like 30 Years of Magic, just something to pass time until they unveil the next major parade. I just try and ignore the whole thing. Dale has walked into the fire station for some reason, and I find myself walking down Main Street singing the Tap Shoes / Harvest Moon medley from Showbiz Is ..., and tap dancing my way down the street. I think I am dancing really badly, but for somebody who doesn't know what they are doing, it is actually pretty good.

I cover the entirety of Main Street in about five seconds, and suddenly find myself at Coke Corner, looking for the piano player. It is still pouring rain, so the piano is inside the restaurant. As I walk in, I find Johnny Lee there, talking to a guest. The guest keeps talking about the last piano player he saw there, who was a bit friendly, a bit crazy, and played very, very fast, and Johnny admitted it sounded like Rod.

The guy was asking Johnny to play a song, and Johnny indicated he wanted to, but unfortunately he had managed to break both his legs, so couldn't make use of any of the pedals. Instead Johnny seemed to be getting ready to go to sleep, and was pulling himself onto the piano keyboard and pulling the keyboard guard thingy over himself almost like a sort of coffin, before he took a nap.
