    1. Crazy robot/apocalypse/rebellion dream

      by , 07-28-2013 at 06:32 PM
Hello DV! It's been a while. Over the summer I haven't been keeping very good track of my dreams for some reason. So ... oops, my bad. But this morning I had a super crazy dream so I felt inspired to post again.

I'd say this was semi-lucid, maybe lucid? I don't think I quite realized I was dreaming, but it was really vivid and at the same time I realized it wasn't real and that I had control over it ... I don't know, it's kind of hard to explain. It was pretty intense/disturbing, but I felt pretty chill throughout the whole thing because I felt more like I was acting as a different person (that is, I wasn't really myself) and I felt like I was in a movie or something so I knew it wasn't real life. But anyway, the dream:

I'm walking through a forest that's completely destroyed and there are crashed spaceships everywhere. I'm walking with some other girl and for some reason I know we're going to meet some robot who was sent to help us by the girl's brother. Suddenly we're walking past these two rows of robots on either side of us and they're all identical––they're person-shaped/sized but all white and shiny with glowing blue eyes. I'm wondering which one is supposed to help us, and then one of them just like sneaks up behind us and surprises us and I know he's the one we've been looking for.

We end up at a grocery store where we're shopping for supplies with a bunch of other people, and we're all part of some kind of secret resistance movement (against what, I don't really know). Some of the people are secretly robots but they're disguised as people––and then they're all buying supplies to help them look more like people or something. We have to buy some kind of magic fabric that other robots can wear so they look like people ... ? Yeah, I don't know.

Then the police show up outside and we're all like "Oh shit!" and we know that the police will know that some of us are secretly robots because of the specific materials we're buying.

We all try to hide the materials we were buying, and by now the police are in the store. I shove some of the fabric onto a random shelf and then I pretend to be looking at plastic utensils. (And then Miss J––who's a judge from America's Next Top Model––is briefly there and she's like "I love those forks!" ... Errm yeah. I've watched like three seasons of ANTM in the past few weeks, so yeah. Shut up.)

Then I realize everyone else has left and the police are after just me. And this weird thing happens where I kind of skip forward in time but I know what happened ... I tried to sneak out a back door but I was surrounded, and then I fell and broke my ankle so I got caught. And now I've been sentenced to some kind of public execution which is tomorrow, but I have to spend the night at the executioner's house...?

So I'm in the executioner's house and I keep arguing with him about how evil and wrong he is etc. but he just keeps brushing it off. He has a little daughter and he's saying goodnight to her and I'm like, "How can you have a little child and still be an executioner?!"

Then I distract him with some random question when he's standing at the top of the stairs, and then while he's answering I push him down the stairs as hard as I can. I'm hoping this will kill him but it only knocks him out. So then while he's lying at the bottom of the stairs, I run down into the living room and grab a pillow and then I walk over to the executioner and start trying to smother him with the pillow. He starts struggling and crying and the whole thing starts to feel like super real and disturbing, and I feel guilty, so I stop. But I'm like "Now you know that I have the power to kill you if I want to" and apparently that's enough to convince him not to execute me. .... I think that was it.
    2. I dance with strangers in my basement

      by , 01-26-2013 at 09:18 PM
I’m in my basement at home. I go down the stairs. All the furniture is gone and the whole thing is just empty. There are a bunch of people there … people I don’t know from real life. We all start dancing in a circle. It kind of dimly occurs to me that I’m dreaming, but I think at that point I wake up. That’s all I can remember.
    3. Lions and Zebras Try to Take Over the World; I Steal Sunglasses and Have a Nose Piercing Problem

      by , 01-25-2013 at 05:39 AM
Uh … OOPS it’s been months since I last wrote an entry in this thing. That would explain why lately I’ve been having so much trouble remembering my dreams. I really need to get back into the habit of doing this so that I can have cool dreams again. Yeah.

Well, I recently had a pretty cool/weird dream. It went something like this:

It starts off as kind of a third-person thing, where I’m not really a part of the action, I’m just observing the story.

There are a bunch of lions and zebras living together in a giant palace. There’s one lion who’s the king of them all. And he decides that he and the other lions and the zebras are going to destroy humanity. He sends one of the zebras to warn the humans of their oncoming doom.

So, the zebra walks up to a house. It’s night-time. The back door opens and Will Smith walks out. The zebra is like, “We’re going to destroy humanity, bwahaha.” And if I recall correctly, he has some gruesome thing with him like a head on a stick or something which I guess is part of the warning sign or whatever. Will Smith is like, “Oh no!” And that’s the only part he plays in the dream and I’m not sure why he was there at all. Oh well.

This is where I finally become a part of the dream, although I’m a random character and not really myself. I’m riding on a white horse to the palace along with some other people––I don’t know who they are. I think I’m leading everyone there. I have a sword and I start swinging it around and thinking about how I’m going to cut off the king lion’s head.

We’re galloping over this beautiful landscape with rolling green hills and everything. I think we go over a bridge at some point. Then in the distance, I finally see the palace. It’s huge and gleaming and white, and there’s a rainbow coming out of the top of it and stretching up into the sky. I’m like, “Whoaaa … that’s pretty.”

At this point I have a somewhat lucid moment, in which I’m suddenly aware that I’m in the dream and that I’m simultaneously asleep in my bed. I know I’m about to wake up, but I try not to because I really want to get to the palace and kill the lion. Alas, I wake up before we get there. Oh well.

As for dreams I had last night (or maybe it was this morning):

I vaguely remember a dream in which I was at a beach, and I acquired a pair of fancy sunglasses. Somehow, I know that I stole these sunglasses, although I don’t remember exactly how that happened. I feel guilty about stealing them, but I keep trying to justify it to myself, like, “Oh, everyone steals sometimes!”

Anyway, I can’t remember much about what the sunglasses look like besides that they have a brown tint to them, and I also realize that I can see through the lenses (and I’m super near-sighted, so this is weird). So, they basically function like regular glasses except they’re tinted. But for some reason I think this is like, the best thing since sliced bread.

Not sure if it was part of the same dream, but I recall a brief fragment of a dream in which I am standing in front of a mirror and I take out my nose piercing. My nose instantly begins gushing blood everywhere and I panic … but I think I manage to get it back in again.

… So yeah. Now I should start remembering to write these lovely gems down. I want to keep having cool/lucid dreams.
    4. Dragons and Lightning!

      by , 09-07-2012 at 01:55 PM
I haven’t had any dreams that I can remember for the past few days, but I finally had some memorable ones this morning. And I was lucid during one of them!

Or well, it was kind of like one big dream but with two parts. And one of them was like, a dream within a dream. So yeah.

Two of my sisters and I are sharing a room together, and the room only has one bed that we all have to sleep on. It’s the morning, and two of my sisters are arguing because there’s not enough room on the bed. One of them gets out and lies down on the floor instead. I curl up at the foot of the bed and I’m like, “I’m going to have a lucid dream now.” And then I fall asleep within the dream and have another dream. A dream within a dream. Oooh.

So anyway, during this part of the dream I was aware I was dreaming and could control aspects of the story. I was sometimes a character in the story and sometimes just an observer.

So, there’s this guy and this girl who are a couple. And they have a pet dragon because … that’s cool. The girl wakes up in the morning. They live in this small wooden house, where sunlight streams in between the planks of wood. The girl walks out the front door, and the dragon is waiting there. It opens its wings––which kind of look like they’re made of lace. That is, they’re black and have this cool transparent pattern on them. In the background, the sun is rising and the sky is red and cloudy. And the girl is like, “Ooh, pretty.”

The guy comes outside to join her. They have some conversation where the girl is like, “Mehhh I’m so ugly!” and the guy is like, “I think you are very attractive!” and whatnot. Then they decide to fly around on the dragon for a while.

So, they get on the dragon and take off. But then suddenly there’s a storm, and they get struck by lightning and fall out of the sky. The guy and the dragon are okay, but the girl goes missing, and all the guy can find are pieces of her shoes.

Back at the cabin, the guy just sits around and cries with the pieces of the girl’s shoes all around him. He has a friend who also lives there, and that guy is sitting by a wood stove and pretends to be crying whenever people stop by so that they’ll leave him alone, or … something. I don’t really know what the logic is.

There were two other parts of the dream, but I don’t remember which part of the dream they were part of, or what they had to do with anything at all. In one part, I was watching this weird steampunk golf tournament on TV. And in another part, I was a man who had to dress up as Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz” for some unknown reason.

      So yup! That’s all, folks.

    5. I Ride a Boat Full of Cats to Disney World

      by , 08-29-2012 at 03:13 PM
I’m on a boat with my family. The inside of the boat is full of water, and we’re all just floating around in it. But then, I guess the water drains out because suddenly it’s all gone.

I’m talking to my sisters, when suddenly I remember that I might have forgotten to pack my laptop. Part of me doesn’t care that much because apparently we’re going to be somewhere that doesn’t have any Internet access anyway, but I still wanted my laptop around so that I could write on it and stuff. So, I go to double-check my luggage. There are some plastic bags lying around and I start looking through them, but they’re all just full of shoes. Finally, I find my backpack, but it looks like I didn’t pack anything very useful. Apparently I only packed a few items of clothing and then a bunch of Beanie Babies. And I stuffed everything into the front pocket instead of packing it in the main part of the backpack.

So, I stand up again. And right then I become lucid for like two seconds. It just randomly occurs to me that I’m dreaming, and I run out onto the deck of the boat saying, “I’m lucid! I’m lucid!” I decide I’m going to jump off the boat and into the water. So, I do that. But, as soon as I do, I just find myself back on the boat again and I’m no longer lucid. Oh well.

When I’m back on the boat, I see that my dad is standing at a stove and cooking something. When I get closer, I see he’s frying a bunch of snails in a pan. And they’re not normal snails, either … They’re like, super gigantic snails that are probably like six inches long. My mom is standing nearby and starts complaining about how disgusting it is and how my dad will just have to eat those by himself.

At that point, I start walking up some stairs, because apparently the boat has two floors. On the second floor, there are a few rooms that look like bedrooms, and one room that looks like a kitchen. For some reason, I’m convinced that my friend Hannah lives on the second floor of the boat.

There are a ton of cats on the second floor. I don’t remember all of them, but … There’s this one, huge fat grey and white cat that’s just sitting around. There are a couple of small, grey kittens. And then there’s this really exotic-looking cat who has a black head, but the rest of her body is orange (possibly with some white … I don’t remember very clearly). She has abnormally large ears. And when she blinks, her face kind of like, folds in on itself so you can’t see it. It’s weird. But anyway, I really like this cat and start petting her. Just then, Hannah’s mom comes up the stairs, and I feel guilty because apparently the cat is hers, and it was in her bedroom. But she doesn’t seem to care I’m there. Suddenly, all of my family comes upstairs and they’re all wandering around.

I start playing with one of the kittens, and I try to pick him up, but he scratches my finger. I look down and see that my index finger is bleeding. I walk over to the exotic-looking cat and let her lick the cut. My mom is watching and she’s like, “Awwwww.”

We’re now standing in the kitchen on the second floor, and everyone is pouring cereal into plastic bags and then … layering the plastic bags on top of each other. It’s sort of hard to describe. But anyway.

Apparently the whole time, we were taking the boat to a family reunion of some sort. It’s at some theme park––I guess kind of like Disney World? Anyway, I end up waiting around for this Cinderella-themed ride. It’s this huge white and gold boat that just like, flies up into the sky and swings around.

So, the boat comes down out of the sky, and two ladies dressed as the evil stepsisters get off it, complaining that the ride has no seatbelts. So I’m like, “Oh boy.” Just then, two of my sisters show up and we all get on the ride.

Sure enough, there are no seatbelts. There are just a bunch of benches running across the boat. There’s this random Asian guy sitting at one end of the boat dressed as Prince Charming and he’s like, “HELLOOO.” And we’re all like, “… Hi.”

The boat flies up into the sky and starts swinging back and forth. And we’re all pretty much just sliding around like crazy. And I’m afraid I might fall off, except there are a bunch of these wire fence-type things around the sides of the boat, so I figure I’ll be okay.

Even though only my sisters and I got on the boat to begin with, there are suddenly a lot of other people on the ride as well. The ride keeps going upside down, and when it does, we all just have to sort of hook our feet under the benches and hang there. Then there’s some point where the benches detach from the inside of the boat––and we all have to hold on to a bench as it shoots off into the sky. And when that happens, everyone has a ray of magical color streaming out behind them, and it forms a rainbow.

After that part, there’s this other part where each person gets filmed individually while they dance around holding a fake gun. Apparently there’s going to be some event where we all pretend to shoot each other, for some reason. I stand in front of a computer, watching the people who have been filmed so far. Everyone has to dance against some weird, purple background.

Anyway, I wander off and then my mom and I start talking to some old guy who is apparently related to me. He talks about how he loves that ride that I just went on, and how his favorite part is the shooting part, because it reminds him of when he fought in some war. Then he starts talking about the war and about how horrific it was. And he talks about how he had this wound in his leg, which he claims looked like a gaping mouth with razor-sharp teeth or something. And I’m like, “… What.”

I start thinking about how horrible it would be to be in a war. And suddenly I’m afraid I’m going to get drafted into a war or something, and I’m going to die.

Then one of my younger siblings comes up to me––I think Annabelle––and she wants me to come with her, to find some fireworks that are apparently going on. So, I go with her to look for them. For some reason, she thinks they’re in this nearby dark room. But nothing is going on in there, and there are people in there sleeping in sleeping bags. So we leave.

      And I think that’s all.
    6. Kermit the Frog, Soccer, Coffee at McDonald's ...

      by , 08-20-2012 at 03:49 PM
I had three dreams last night (that I can remember):

      DREAM #1

I am semi-lucid during this dream.

Kermit the frog appeared next to my bed. And then we both float up into the air and start flying down the stairs and out the front door. I decide that I wanted Kermit to glow, so he starts glowing. Then we’re just flying through the sky and singing together, and that's about where the dream ends.

      DREAM #2

I'm sitting in some kind of loft type place, with some guy with a beard, and we're watching soccer on TV. I have a feeling I don't like this guy. Not a very long or detailed dream.

      DREAM #3

I'm in my backyard, and Acacia and Abby (my friends) are there. I'm commenting on Abby's hair because it has all these weird braids in it that you can somehow see from the back but not the front.

Suddenly, Acacia decides that she really wants coffee, and we decide to go to McDonald's to find some. There's this random McDonald's window near my house. The lady working there is one of the cafeteria ladies from my school. Unfortunately the McDonald's is closed. I check the time on my iPod and see that it's almost 9 PM, when for some reason I thought it was only around 5 or so.

Acacia and I go to a different McDonald's, where we have to stand in line for a minute because there are a few people ahead of us. While we're waiting, I notice that Acacia is wearing a black hat and sparkling purple lipstick. So I'm like, "Ooh I love your lipstick!" And Acacia is like, "Thanks!"

So I try to decide what to order, but I can't see the menu from where I'm standing. Plus there's all this random stuff piled up behind the counter. Acacia tells me they're selling one brand of coffee called Coldwell Scent that only costs a dollar, so that is what we both decide to order. The lady who takes our order has black hair pulled back into a messy bun, and I think she seems nice.

I wake up before we actually get our coffee.

... Well, at least I was kind of lucid during that first dream. I realized I was dreaming and controlled one small thing. Not much, but it's a step forward I guess.
