    Semi-lucidity! Trying shapeshifting.
In the beginning there was some sort of scary things, it was like a catalog of drugs that make your dreams insane with illustrations of what you could see, most notably a drug that is some sort of mineral which looks like some really demonic face with a mouth stretched down for meters, an unhealthy reddish skin and dead white eyes, and it made you see faces like that in your dream. Then it was somewhat about Subnautica. But then I was at home and suddenly I had a small amount of heightened awareness that it might be a dream. Then there was a sort of puppet but it was alive and I brought it into a room and closed the door to protect us from something. We went outside again and there were intimidating people and it was also like I read something bad about them. They said something I don't remember. I went past them and at the window were also some intimidating people I couldn't get past. I went back to the room.

I don't remember the part right before it, but I knew I was dreaming and did multiple reality checks and they all told me I was in a dream, so, now aware, I thought of something to do. The dream was very unclear and I totally forgot about stabilizing, but didn't even notice, so this was at most semi-lucid. I went to a mirror and tried transforming into a dragon. I didn't manage to do it at all since I hadn't at all had a visualization of the dragon I'd want to transform in. I tried doing it by looking to the mirror and back once I had an idea of what I wanted. As it didn't work after multiple attempts I just tried a tail at first, and that worked... somewhat. I didn't really take the right idea at all from the beginning anyway. The tail was there, but it was numb and had no feeling. And it was green, and I wanted it blue, so I just looked away and back again, and there it was blue. Then I just sort of gave up. I went away to see if I could manage to breathe fire at the people I couldn't get past, but I just forgot about it and tried to do something else. At some point I lost lucidity somewhat and slightly fell back into the plot about these demonic faces. Then I got excited over something and I woke up quite a lot. I then remembered the shapeshifting tutorial, and I wanted to do it. I remembered dream chaining, laid completely still, aaaaanddd... my parents managed to wake me up on accident.

Glad to know my practice is working. Not sure what to improve for next time, though. Maybe I should just continue as usual with my practice.

In regards to how the tail felt, you might want to try practising imagining a "ghost limb" type feeling of having a tail like that while awake, as it might eventually let your dream mind simulate the sensation more accurately too, at least I personally believe so. For me this type of imagined limb feeling has always come kind of naturally while I'm awake (I can feel extra arms and other such things more or less at will) so I'm not sure how easy or difficult it is for others to practice imagined sensation in this way.

It was really satisfying to have a complete transformation in my last LD, so all I can say is that you can certainly look forward to continuing that practice.

Even though you got interrupted/woken up in the end when trying to return to the dream, you could still try to continue exactly where you left off when you get back to bed for sleeping tonight. I would certainly give it a go anyway since the dream would still be somewhat fresh. Apart from that, probably continue as usual I'd say.

I actually have already practiced the sort of "ghost limb" feeling for fun since a few years. I just had pretty horrible lucidity, so my mind jumped from thought to thought without really doing much logical thinking, so I couldn't utilize that practice yet.

I'm curious, what'd you transform into and how was it?

I'd rather not. The dream still had this disturbing feeling attached to it since it was still connected to this demonic mineral/face from the catalog in the beginning, and that feeling and dread would probably make a potential LD less enjoyable, or possibly outright nightmarish.

Fair enough, that makes sense, I didn't mean to explain something you already knew, just hoped it would be helpful. Good to know you are already familiar with it.

I understand; it concerns me that it can disturb you so much and I simply don't think I can imagine it properly, as it's not something I can fully relate to. I am hoping that you will overcome this fear/sensation with time.

And I had transformed into a giant anthropomorphic green lizard (link to the dream/DJ entry). The feelings were pretty consistent with my overall perception of the shapes, especially the feet/claws, tail awareness wasn't 100% there but I wasn't focusing on it and most of the dream's context didn't make me become more aware of it either except for when I was more lying down than standing. During that part I sort of felt my tail pressing/resting over my legs.

This is amongst the most physical of my experiences with transformation; even in my childhood dreams where I took on a similar form, the degree of authenticity to the physical part wasn't really quite the same as this. It's really something I look forward to experiencing again, whenever that will be.

Sorry, I did not mean to make it look like I was judging you for telling me. I just tend to explain things like that for no apparent reason.

Those kind of dreams or fears in general aren't really an unusual experience for me anymore, and they don't really affect me all that much when the dream is over, except for particular dreams that happen every few years, but the fear from these particularly horrible dreams only lasts a week at most. I don't have a lot of fears that are bad, but I guess I have to pay for that by having a few irrational fears that scare to the deepest part of my psyche.

That sounds really cool. I hope to be able to experience something like that at some point. A great motivation to get lucid again.
