    1. Sydney Harbour What?

      7 Sep 2011

I repeatedly attempted DEILD tonight but found that I kept waking up in uncomfortable positions and had to move before I could get to sleep. I think that perhaps I was a little impatient. Anyway, the last dream which I can remember was this. I was walking East along the North side of Sydney Harbour, West of the Sydney Harbour Bridge only for most of the walk it was a narrow river, not the large harbour which I know it to be. The population density was also much lower than it should have been. It was more like Kirribilli (East of the Bridge) than McMahon's Point (West of the Bridge). The entire geography was in fact screwed up. The Botanical Gardens were also on the North side of the Bridge, right at the mouth of the Harbour Tunnel. Their actual location is the South side, above the Domain, right near the other end of the Tunnel. Anyway, I was walking East to the botanic gardens which bore a striking similarity to Kirribilli House and also a whole lot of similar locations in previous dreams. I was with my father and he was telling me a bit of history. Since it was only a small river, there were a number of bridges along the length of our walk. We repeatedly crossed the river all the way so that there would be more variety in the scenery but both sides were very similar. Anyway, he was telling me that there was a time not so long ago that none of the bridges existed, not even the Harbour Bridge, and that the only way to cross in an emergency was to run all the way to the Tunnel and cross through it. Suddenly my brother was there and he made us usual comments in relation to anything historical; he said that this was stupid and no body could have or should have had to live like that. He then went on to ask what music was played in the tunnel. His first though was "Can't Touch This" by MC Hammer but dad said that it was "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen. Both of these were incredibly lame puns at the time though I can not make sense of them now. The other thing was that the tunnel was being completely rebuilt. The had finished most of this but still had to paint it.
    2. Hypnogogic Hallucinations

I did not really sleep much at all but I had a very large number of pre sleep hallucinations. Normally I wouldn't document these but they were all along a common theme. Each hallucination involved an encounter with a person I know. A conversation, an observation, a collaboration or some other type of human interaction. I ended each hallucination with some new idea opinion about the person. I have no clear memory of any of these except for one in which I watched J.T. stuff something up and then put in every effort to remedy the issue, sadly the details have left me but the conclusion is implicit. I wish I could remember more of these hallucinations but the whole process was very exhausting as I doubt whether I entered a single R.E.M.s cycle all night.

All I remember is that someone gave me flowers for my birthday.

    4. The Infinite Conveyor

      by , 09-04-2011 at 10:14 AM
So I was very young when I had this dream also (only about 7). I was on holidays in some weird city where baseball was very popular. There was a big baseball team in this town and they had a really good win rate but they had a problem. Their players seemed to get very depressed all the time. Anyway, we were at a hotel room briefly and there was an argument between my parents about the accommodation. My dad felt depressed as a result and went off to sulk for a while. The city was strange in that it was the one place in the world where there was an infinite conveyor. This was an infinitely long series of conveyor belts which people could enter at one end and travel for all eternity without hope of return. Many of the baseball players used this when they were depressed and were never seen again. When my father was still out quiet late that afternoon, I went and searched for him. My search brought me to the start of the infinite conveyor and I arrived just in time to see him step on. The pace of the conveyor was not fast but it was almost impossible to return due to the large amount of traffic it dealt with. I raced on to the conveyor and tried to stop my father from being taken away and nearly lost myself but in the end I managed to grab him and fight my way back to safety.

It is worth mentioning that I was not this messed in the head as a child (though I probably am now). This was probably a result of the trauma of recently returning from Europe on aircraft just after the September 11 attacks in 2001! It was quite a traumatic experience though I was not directly involved in the attacks by any means, I was quite young.

    5. Tree of Planets

      by , 09-03-2011 at 08:29 AM
This is another one from my childhood and I think I had it on a number of occasions but maybe that was because I remembered it from within the dream. There was a small park which I liked to play in and it had a very large pine tree in it (I think it was a Norfolk Pine). This pine tree was so large that one could not see the top of it. One day I decided to climb the pine tree and it was a longer journey than I was expecting. I climbed for days on end. The first few days were simply a pine tree but the tree extended beyond Earth's atmosphere. As I climbed higher the structure became more exotic until I found that it had entirely transformed itself into a series of planets which I had to leap between. The paradoxes of this were obviously not evident to me as a small child.

    6. Big Blue Monster

      by , 09-03-2011 at 08:21 AM
This is the first dream which I have any memory of as a small child. I was staying at my grandparents' place when I was about five and I had a "bad dream". I was standing in my bedroom with my mother and then she walked out. I then looked out the window and saw a giant blue monster. His skin was blue but smooth, not furry, and he lent in the window and touched me (not in a weird or sexual way, just on the arm or something) and then he left. When mum came back into the room I was crying and terrified. Granddad agreed to go outside with me and search for the monster so we walked outside. I was still terrified that we would find it. We walked around the house, corner by corner. The house was apparently a square floor plan but we had to go around many more than four corners. It was about eight corners and each was terrifying as I thought that we would see the monster each time.
