    False Awakening

    1. Came close to viewing my own birth, was very lucid.

      by , 07-19-2017 at 11:58 AM
Dark room lucid dream where I had a false awakening and was able to do the nose pinch reality check. Most of the dream was me in my own house and trying to turn on a light switch. None seemed to work. Eventually I go outside and look up to see "Star man" who is a reoccurring character in my dreams who is the outline of a man in the sky formed from stars. I go back inside and decide I want to try the jump into a painting challenge, but when I jump into a painting in my living room, I wake up instead.

I go back to sleep and manage to have another lucid dream. This is another false awakening and already know it's a dream. In my room I see a "Goosebumps" book that doesn't actually exist called Escape from Werewolf Camp" with a picture of a wolf standing in front of a cabin. The rest of my room is being packed up. I find my dad watching an episode of the simpsons where the kids are giving reports on various generals. I see a painting nearby and look at it, trying to imagine what jumping inside it will be like. It's a grassy hill with a few houses on it, and in the background are these skyscrapers. The dad dream character says it looks like a metropolis. I jump into the painting and find myself on the grassy hill for about a second before I wake up.

I then go back to sleep and have a gambling dream where I am playing a sort of memory game but the cards keep getting mixed around. I then realize that it's a dream because I'm not on the internet playing a game, that I'm playing this game on the street somehow. I decide to just start walking down the street while talking about how I knew I was lucid since I'm talking to people online but without a mic or even wifi.

I go from running to me rolling down the street on a skateboard and I was still lucid and decided that instead of continuing the painting challenge for literally the fifth time I would instead watch my own birth, and that in the playground I was headed for would be a time machine. When I reach the playground I see this piece of a jungle gym that's shaped like a car rolling around and I declare that's my time machine and I need to catch it. I chase it around before finally catching it and find the environment around me slowly changing into the front of a hospital. I approach the hospital and see that it is called the "Ethnically Hopeful" hospital, meaning racial harmony. I don't know the name of the hospital I was born at so I figure this might as well be it. I go inside, down a hall to a waiting room and tell the woman at the front that I'm here to watch a birth and she asks "Oh you're (my full name) here for the birth of (my full name)? I realize that my future self must have done this for me, and that it will be fun to go full circle and do that in a dream. I take the ID she gives me and take an elevator up to the twelfth floor. Unfortunelty I woke up when I actually reached the floor, but not before sharing the elevator with a Dream character who I had to keep from messing with the stop button on the elevator. I asked her what her name was because I remembered that was a challenge but instead of replying she turned to me and I recognized her as a character from a short story I read about a large woman in an elevator who scared a boy who had a broken leg and had to use the elevator. That's how I knew she would press the stop button.

    2. October's Task of the Month, Dream fragment.

I forget what exactly the first part of the dream was about, it had to do with a trip on a bus, but I had a false awakening and I remember feeling really disoriented and I looked at my hands, and I had only three fingers on my right hand and I moved it around and saw it changing and I went lucid. Suddenly I was standing upright thinking about how I read in the maintaining lucidity section that I needed to spin around to hold on to it, but it didn't really seem to work. I felt like I was losing control of the dream and I realized that I probably had just enough time to quickly attempt the task of the month, so I looked around for a pumpkin and sure enough I suddenly found myself in my kitchen with a pumpkin in front of me that was already cut open.

I got excited because I was REALLY hoping I would be able to do the task of the month but I wasn't sure if I would be able to go lucid the way I usually do until this weekend, which is waking up and then sleeping in. I opened up the pumpkin and looked inside, and inside I saw cotton lining the pumpkin with tiny black dots, like black seeds in the cotton. I remember being really disappointed that the pumpkin was empty and that was when I lost lucidity.

In the next part of the dream, I remember being on the yard at my middle school and really not much else.
    3. Dreaming that I'm practicing WILD

I have had some pretty bizarre dreams before involving dreams within dreams. This one was so bizarre that I knew I had to come back to this site to discuss it. To begin, I want to mention that I had this dream after waking up and then sleeping in today, saturday, which is how I usually am able to Lucid Dream.

The dream began with me at my school and I was watching a horror movie on the TV. It was extremely realistic except for the fact that the lights were off and I was laying on the ground on my side. I then had a false awakening, and in the dream I was in my bed on my laptop. Usually when I pull out my phone in a dream, I just see a multicolored screen and never am I able to actually look things up on the internet. At most there will be a video playing that I then find myself becoming a part of.

However, this time I was actually handling my laptop and looking at videos on Youtube. I remember one of the videos was about albino ostriches and a variety of facial expressions that they make. I then dreamed that I was practicing WILD, and tried to control what I was dreaming but ended up dreaming that I was still in my room, only I wasn't sure if I was dreaming or sleepwalking. This is actually a common theme in my dreams due to how detailed they can really be when I am lucid, I know I am dreaming but still worry if I am sleepwalking. I was outside my house and fell down on my front lawn. I then had a faulse awakening again and was back to being in bed with my laptop. The laptop then fell over and broke the screen, and I had a second false awakening to find the laptop fixed again.

I went back to sleep in the dream and this time was near my neighborhood, only as usual in dreams familiar places become bizarre and twisted. I came across a large mansion which I somehow knew was my cousin's house. (To clarify my cousins do NOT live in a large mansion.) As I was approaching the house, a car pulled up behind me and a man got out and started shooting a gun at me. I ducked and was able to actually hide behind the sidewalk curb, which was now a few feet high. I then again had another false awakening, and this time in the dream I was on my laptop writing a dream journal about all of what had happened so far.

The last dream was so realistic though that I couldn't believe how detailed it really was. Usually when you are reading a book or something, it will change. This time it remained constant. I was in a classroom, for reference it looked like one of the classrooms from my elementry school, and the teacher was a man who was teaching us about the occult. I remember him wearing a blue vest with a shirt underneath with the sleeve rolled up, and him being rather muscular. He handed out these printouts that were stapled together, like an activity book but each page was related to monsters and demons.

I remember I was just looking through the booklet while the girl across from me was almost done, and I looked at her completed booklet to try to figure out what I was supposed to be doing. She commented that I should be glad I didn't reach near the end of the assignment where you have to draw various demons and symbols for their summoning. I page I looked at showed a monster destroying a city, and had instructions to draw a skyscraper in it's hand.

A man who somewhat looked like the tenth doctor (Doctor Who.) started questioning out teacher about his background and how he had a history of controversy with his teaching methods, and how he was in danger of losing his teaching license.
    4. Not a lucid dream, but by far one of the most surreal dreams I have had.

So, I should probably start this off by explaining that literally all of this is a dream. There was at no point of this where I actually woke up and no point where I was lucid. Anyway, here it goes, one of the freakiest and bizarre dreams where I was aware I was dreaming but not lucid.

The dream started off with me in an apartment which I hardly recognized. I went to the stairs and suddenly knew I was dreaming, but I also couldn't control it and tried to see what I could do. I then had a false awakening where I was in front of my friend Sonam's house and he just arrived and found me on the front steps. He took me inside and into what looked like a therapist's office and shone a light in my eyes, saying that my pupil's were pinpoints and that I had been sleepwalking and was not fully awake. Then, I found myself in a movie theater watching a play apparently. My friend Kevin was sitting next to me talking to me about how I was probably slowly going insane from too much lucid dreaming, and how you really shouldn't be walking around in your own mind since it's a very erratic place.

I then had another false awakening where I was in my room but there was like a metal shelf full of chips a soda next to me. I realized that this was another dream and had yet another false awakening. Now I was outside my house and all the houses next to me looked extremely real minus a few strange details such as them changing if I looked at them for too long, but I remember looking closely at my handrail and the pattern of the corroded metal looking very real. I worried that I might be sleep walking and in danger so I tried to find someone who could wake me up. I started walking in a direction to see if it would take me to some surreal place but it was just my regular neighborhood and I began to get worried that I might really be half awake and sleep walking.

Suddenly, I find myself walking down a dark street and thinking about a meme I saw where a girl is being grabbed by a zombie and the caption reads "Try lucid dreaming they said, it will be fun they said." I look down into a sewer and somehow know that if I go down into that sewer there be that same scene.

I then found myself walking towards what looked like a school and it's daylight and I somehow know it's graduation day at the school, and a bunch of people I know are there heading towards the school. Inside the school it's like a maze, and a little person shows up and tells me that I am still dreaming and that I should try to force myself away. I have yet another false awakening but this time my vision is horribly impaired and I am having difficulty navigating my room. Everything goes black and finally I wake up for real.
