    Themes of Horror and Annoyance

Some long elaborite dream about a football game taking place on campus. My extended family was there and my grandparents were exceptionally annoying in-dream. I also recall us having some problem with parking our cars.

I had to sneak away and help these people hide a dead body before the police found it.

I feel as though I have had this dream at least twice before today, but only recalled it this morning. The setup is always exactly the same:

I am a covert spy/assassin working for some sort of government agency. High tech gear, intense training, and an assistant that I can communicate with to help me hack doors and all that. My mission is to find and kill someone inside this lodge that appears to be in the middle of the desert. I only have a limited amount of time as my assistant is trying to convince the government not to drop an anti-mutant bomb to stop something bad from happening. This time I run out of time almost as soon as the mission starts.

"Get out of there, you're out of time!"

I haven't had a chance to even walk inside to investigate the lodge. A nuclear blast goes off in the distance and a wave of fire engulfs me and the lodge building. I am left completely unfazed but the lodge is instantly ignited. I hear people screaming as they are burned alive. I then see the slenderman standing in front of the flames in the main door of the building. For some reason, he has a really large round head.
This is what causes me to become lucid, because I know I have seen this scenario before.

I am a covert assassin so I pull my pistol off my belt and fire at him. No effect. Somehow, he gets to be right in front of me. I reach for my combat knife but it is already gone. There is a metal pole that was blasted out of the lodge laying on the ground next to me. I grab it and stab him in the chest up through the top of the head. His flesh sort of feels like putty. He does sort of reel back and go "urff" as if this is hurting him, but he grabs me in his tentacles and starts to pull me apart.

Before the dream ends, I try to say "Stop, I am not afraid of you!" but nothing audible is heard and the dream ends anyway.

By no means scared, but somewhat annoyed that I could not speak. I guess the scenario is so overblown and trying so hard to be scary that it ends up coming off as rather silly.

I considered that it could be a scenario that I am subconsciously afraid of but not aware that I am afraid of. (A short story I was working on with S explored this exact concept yesterday.) As such, I have had my fill of that theme and do not need a dream to further explore it.
