    N64 and Pizza Machine

So I remembered most of this dream this morning, but unfortunately I had to finish preparing for a school presentation that I gave this morning so I was unable to record it immediately, and now I remember very little. Ok, now that I finished writing down the dream I remembered a lot more than I thought.

I was playing Diddy Kong Racing on the N64. For some reason a computer player was really really fast, and kept ahead of me even though I was playing well and not making mistakes. I actually remember the characters, too I was the mouse character (been too long I can't remember her name) and the computer beating me was Diddy. I was getting really frustrated and started complaining "this is ridiculous how can I beat that?"

So my brother who I haven't seen in several months (he currently lives on the other side of the United States) was apparently sitting next to me and he said "huh that is weird how hard that is. let me try." I gave him the controller and he proceeded to restart the race and beat the same computer by a lap. (which is actually pretty realistic, he is legitimately one of the best Diddy Kong Racing players in the world in waking life) "wow that computer was really fast." I just rolled my eyes at him.

Later in the dream I was standing next to a vending machine trying to buy pepperoni pizza. The machine isn't taking my dollar bills, and I remember I needed 50 cents more to buy the pizza. I notice now that the machine says "exact change only" so I get out a couple of spare quarters, but to my dismay the machine just spit them back out at me. My dad came over and said to try his quarters. I put in his two quarters too and one was accepted, but the other kept getting rejected. In the midst of this frustration I woke up.

Wow, is he really that good? Like do you get rankings or play that game in competitions? Your quarter situation does sound annoying but on the bright it didnt take your money for nothing. That actually happened to me once when I was looking for more quarters.>. <

Yeah, but he's not like famous or anything. He never went to any tournaments (DKR has had very few), but he is almost a world record caliber player. What I mean is that on the time trial his record is less than a second behind the world record on a few tracks.

He never has had real competition, though. He used to complain that no one would play with him, which was true. It was no fun to play with him because he was too good. To give you an idea of the skill gap, the only real comparison I can make is to myself. I don't know if you know the game, but it is in my opinion a pretty difficult game, and I am good enough I can beat the whole story as well as the harder mirror map adventure you unlock after completing the game. Still, when I would play with my brother he would give me a lap head start (there are 3 laps on each map), and then he would start racing me. I still never beat him, although I came close a few times. Fun story to tell though.

Yeah I have had some bad experiences with vending machines before too. Maybe that is where the dream came from.

Oh, still its cool that he was so close to the world record. I've never played DKR but I'm thinking it is similar to mario kart. Does he beat you by grinding or using short cuts?A lap away is pretty far.XD It is pretty funny but its good you came close a few times. That way you don't have to swallow your pride much.

      Hehe Yeah ^w^

Yeah it is similar to mario kart but the items are less powerful, and they are not random so I guess it is harder to come back when you are behind. Yeah he does both I guess, drifting is actually faster than driving straight in that game so it is a really useful skill if you can keep from spinning out. And the shortcuts are good but I know most of them as well.

That would make it harder. I said grinding but maybe that wasn't the right word. You mentioned drifting which is the correct term for the move.If you know the shortcuts than I guess there really is more to it. Hopefully I can try the game someday to see how it is. I think ill have to play it in a simulator.
