First time posting on here, long time dream journalist. I like to say I have very vivid dreams, most of which I can remember in the morning using trigger words that bring back the dream into memory. In most dreams I am able to recognize that I am dreaming, though, I have no control. I realize that I am dreaming easier when I have recurring dreams. I also noticed that most of my dreams take things from my waking moments: people, actions, places or sometimes small details. That being said sometimes I lose track of what is actually happened in real life and things that happened in dream state. Why I dream so vividly, I don't know. Why I can't control my dreams, unsolved. Why I have recurring dreams of situations and places I don't know, is a mystery. I hope I can solve these questions as I track my journey in this journal as I continue to experiment with the dream state.

Welcome. Just wanted to say, I can really relate to this. My dreams can also be brought back by trigger words. Although I don't tend to realize I am dreaming often, in recurring locations or places, I often at least ask myself the question.

Dreams can only take things from waking life. Contrary to popular belief, the imagination can't conjure things from thin air, it just takes things from waking life and compounds them with other things. Sometimes these things are so compounded you can't even track at all where they came from, sometimes things are just unmodified.

Why you dream so vividly might just be your lifestyle and brain chemistry, why you can't control your dreams, it's very much tied to your expectation. If you at all expect that you aren't in control, then you won't be.

Well, good luck and have fun with lucid dreaming.
