    1. Terrifying guilt trip

      by , 10-15-2010 at 03:24 PM
I went to a school where some random preacher was giving a sermon even though he wasn't supposed to be there. As he was getting kicked out, I was walking out of the building with an older couple (50s-60s) who had been part of his group but were seriously beginning to question what the hell is wrong with him. The preacher came up and started getting really mad, so I provoked him more. This is about when part of my brain caught on that I was dreaming, but not enough for a full on lucid dream or any control. The preacher absolutely lost his mind and started screaming and yelling, got into a car and crashed it into another one in a fit of rage. I told the older couple to stay with me and not to take their eyes off of the preacher, just slowly walk away. The woman didn't listen and wound up behind the preachers car and I yelled at her to get out of there but she got run over. Her grief-stricken husband flew into a rage and dragged the preacher out of the car and snapped his neck, while I ran the hell away. I got up to the top of a cliff where I could see that the car the preacher had been driving was still moving and was going to run them both over and turned away so I wouldn't have to watch. Something in the back of my brain thought "you know, the guy could have made it out of there okay, he might just have lost an arm or something." So naturally I turn back and the old man has lost an arm and is climbing up the cliff face towards me. He had this absolutely crazy look in his eyes and was screaming "WHAT DO I DO NOW? TELL ME WHAT TO DO!" and I knew it was all my fault that all this terrible shit happened to him, because it was my dream and I should have been able to stop it.

Sorry I haven't been around much, school year got way more in the way than I was expecting.

    2. Note to self: get a physical DJ already

      by , 08-28-2010 at 08:31 PM
Woke up at 4 am from the first dream, was too tired to get up and type out what happened. I need to get a real journal to keep by the bed from now on.

I was walking down a path in a dark, swampy area. There were five or six people with me and my boyfriend. On the ground in front of us were some small dead alien things, maybe two or three inches long and tan colored. They looked kinda like tiny round facehuggers. The whole place was very alien looking, and there was one plant we had to pass under on the path. It had a single leaf/thing about a foot long dangling out over the path that lit up in different colors and was some sort of sensor we had to sneak past. It was supposed to send out this spray of something periodically and we just had to time our passage right, but it started going way too fast. It was going off about every breath, and it made a noise like someone blowing a little dust or something. Eventually we gave up and walked through while it was going off and I was holding on to my boyfriend as we went under. I'm sure no one is surprised that I woke up to him snoring.

The next dream was at my parent's house. Our neighbors grew some crazy flowers that were about 4 or 5 feet tall with six inch wide petals kinda like a poppy flower. They were reddish orange and edible (tasted like tomato-basil). I asked my parents for some to take home, expecting a bulb to plant, but they just gave us a couple of petals.

    3. Split second of recall

I was at the House of Blues and my boyfriend and I were supposed to be going upstairs to a VIP thing. The room was dark and fairly crowded, but there wasn't anyone watching the VIP entrance.

    4. Alternate Realities

      by , 08-25-2010 at 06:04 PM
I wish this one was lucid, it was pretty awesome.

I was in one of those "architecture doesn't work that way" houses. I don't remember seeing the outside ever, but the inside was all twisted around itself and very old and wooden. I did some design work for someone and we talked about the advantages and disadvantages of certain types of toys for young children. I explained to her how glued on felt eyes and stitched on eyes are better for dolls and stuffed animals than the hard plastic kind if you're planning on giving them to small children. Kids like to eat eyes off of things. The mother had black, wavy hair in a loose ponytail.

I mislabeled my nephew in the dream as Max. I have no idea why that happened, but he was running around generally being three on the ground floor.

When I got upstairs, there was an open area looking down on what probably used to be a stable or something, now it was just more house. I could see through the layers of cracking paint that there were a lot of old doorways into places that really shouldn't be able to have doorways. I pointed this out to my grandmother, who was complaining that she was too hot. She was wearing a seafoam green parka thing, but insisted that it wasn't very heavy. Then I started seeing what this room was like at another time, with the doors all functional and a fireplace on one of the walls in the room. I tried explaining it to people by showing them the remnants of things, but they didn't get it.

Over by the wall where the fireplace used to be, there were a couple of pennies on the floor that spontaneously combusted. It was pretty easy putting them out, and I tried to explain to everyone that this was where the fireplace was and that was why they were bursting into flames, but then I turned around and saw there was an open door on the second floor over the open area, and through it I could see all the people and things that used to be in the house, like a portal. Some narrator explained that it wasn't time travel, it was another dimension where the house had been taken care of better. I wanted to go through, but I don't remember anything after that point in the dream.

*Interesting note: While the "portal to another time/dimension" is already fairly supernatural on it's own, the paranormal levels skyrocket when you take into account that my grandmother is also dead. This is the first dream with her since she passed away that wasn't entirely focused on "you're dead, you can't be walking around/talking/rolling over in your coffin/etc." and her being very confused about the whole thing. My last lucid before joining this forum was just me at a bbq with the family and her being there. I realized I was dreaming and I yelled that she's dead and she needs to go away, so of course she "was never there in the first place" and my whole family was looking at me like I was a nut.

    5. Not much

Had a bad dream about a haunted television set. Woke up and tried to go back to change it but even in that fuzzy half-dream state the narrative of the dream had way more control than I did. Bothered me enough that I lost the rest of the night.

    6. First RC in a dream!

      by , 08-22-2010 at 04:54 PM
I looked at my hand and counted my fingers, but I counted to seven. I paused a beat and looked again and my hand had seven fingers, so like an idiot I yelled "I'm dreaming!" and woke up, but I think it may have been a false awakening anyway. I wouldn't count it as really lucid, but it's good to see the reality checks are starting to cross over and that the finger counting one works.

I remember that a lot of dream time passed, but I can't seem to connect it all.

I was at my grandfather's house for a big party and there were a number of fish tank sized boxes with colored plastic lids around the house. One of them had some insects in it and it was pretty gross. There was a very long sequence getting there involving dragging a package through various means up a long hill, which was cut short by me just giving up on the morons I was working with and just picked the damn thing up and carried it. It wasn't even that heavy, and it was just a little bigger than a ream of paper.

Someone was being chased by the cops for something and I can't remember what. It was nighttime and I was looking down from a parking lot over a small road lined with trees and the guy was running up the other side of the road.

I was sitting down at a table talking to a guy with really icy blue eyes. I can't remember who it was but it was important. Like, I remember immediately afterward thinking "well, as long as I can remember this I'll be all set."

      Dodgeballs
I had left a bunch of dodgeballs near park street and I finally decided it was time to go attempt to collect them. It had been several weeks if not months since I had left them there, and I wasn't sure I would find anything. When I got there, I found a few right away with numbers written on them in black sharpie. I remember the number 21 distinctly being on one of them, because I only had 12 and it was odd that someone would have put larger number on them. Most of them were orange, even though I knew the set had many different colors. It was overcast and the ground was wet with a couple of puddles here and there. Most of the balls were sitting in the gutter by the side of the road. I got a couple of people to help me gather the dodgeballs and chuck them down into the subway so that I could bring them home, but I didn't remember to bring a bag for them all.

I remember seeing some other types of balls rolling around and being kicked near the same subway, not sure if it was before or after the dodgeball gathering. One of them was a blue rubber ball, which is only significant because I told myself the other night that I was gonna do the August simple task of finding something in each of the primary colors, and settled on a yellow rubber duckie, a red rose, and a blue ball. Don't know if it counts since I was very far from lucid.

      Tits

I don't usually have sexy dreams at all. I can't really string together a narrative for this, although I know there was one at the time. There was a guy with very soft, fuzzy curly hair in spikes all over his head, like someone had molded a natural, blond fro into this:
He had a younger friend or male relative tagging along, somewhere in the 16-18 year old range. They peeked into a room and there was some chick there that was clearly trying to get into the older one's pants. Somewhere around her I wound up with a body. There was a pretty brown haired girl lounging on the floor in a purple-ish dress. I hit on her half-jokingly and she smiled and flashed her vag, but someone dragged me out of the room and closed the door.

I wound up in another room alone with a different woman who was desperately trying to makeout with me, but her breasts were seriously bigger than my torso and she couldn't reach. Fortunately she was clothed.

    8. Nearly lost the whole night

      by , 08-18-2010 at 06:00 PM
My first waking thought this morning was "fuck, I can't remember any dreams, what the hell am I gonna write in my DJ?" So at the very least you folks should take heart that you've already wormed your way that deeply into my brain. Fortunately I retrieved one piece of it just a few minutes later when I wasn't trying so hard, and one dream memory led to another. It's much more fragmented than I'd like, but at least there's something.

      Alaska
My friend "P" had moved to Alaska in the dream. She was using some kind of camera to show me her house which basically was an excuse for my brain to make it look like I was there even though I wasn't in the context of the story (that framing device went away pretty soon anyway). I was on the edge of a ridiculously huge cliff overlooking a deep valley. It was winter and everything was covered in snow. The whole mountain was heavily wooded except for the areas where there were houses.* Someone had gone missing, so I wound up watching news coverage of the search (without silly things like a television frame or anything, naturally), which devolved into just looking at the different crazy modes of transport on the steep hills. One was a set of skis with a small paddle motor in the back for skiing uphill, and the reporter was about to follow someone else downhill on a snowmobile. The slope was at like a 50% grade, and I was scared of falling down just standing there.

      Secret Identity
I was some kind of a superhero and I wound up blowing my secret identity hard, but the woman who figured me out didn't do so until I was over in the bathroom. She tried to break into the room, but I braced myself on something and held the door shut. Unfortunately, two of the hinges were already broken and it didn't take long before she wrenched the other one out of the doorjam and pulled the door out of the wall completely. There was an awkward "now what?" moment, and I wound up going along with whatever she wanted because I didn't want a fight.

      Kitchen
I had chopped up some chicken with the intent of making some chicken alfredo but someone put it all back in the freezer. The kitchen was dark and had roughly the same layout of the kitchen in my first apartment. There was a family there (possibly the simpsons?) that had fallen apart utterly in a paranormal sense. They were trying to contact either the daughter or the mother who was no longer on the physical plane because they couldn't provide even the most basic essentials for themselves without her. It was a lot more depressing than you think.

      Mustache
I had a mustache. It was huge and creepy and I hated it.

      * This landscape actually appeared in another dream a while ago. It was springtime in the earlier dream, and everything was grassy. I can't even describe the scale of everything, it was enormous. In the valley there was a large warehouse several football fields long and built like an old tobacco shed with a railway going through it. The houses were on little outcroppings that were surprisingly flat and grassy; even though they were small compared to the mountains they were attached to, there was enough room for a full neighborhood on each one.

    9. Slight control without lucidity

      by , 08-17-2010 at 03:07 PM
I was at an event with a bunch of people I used to hang out with years ago. It was clear in dream-continuity that the same amount of time had passed, and the event was being held near where I live now and not where we used to play.

"E" is one of those people that I have a long and complicated past with without ever actually dating. He and I were going after the same spot in the event, and wound up in a very minor scuffle over it. Unfortunately for some reason we were on a subway platform and I fell down in the tracks.

The floor was a tan, speckled formica with the tracks inset to the point where it was almost flat. The space between the platform and the wall was about ten or twelve feet. E came down to try to help me, but a train was coming. I knew that there would be indents on the wall side that we could stand in to avoid the train and that if we tried to climb up right then we'd get crushed, so I dragged him across the tracks and over to the wall. They weren't as deep as I had hoped -- only a couple of inches -- but we pressed ourselves against the alcoves and held hands as the train rushed into the station.

When the train stopped, we went back to bickering. There was a set of doors down at our level that we used to board the train and the dream started to fade as it pulled out of the station.

I know looking back that those alcoves weren't there until I asserted that they would be, but I had no idea I was dreaming at the time.
