    1. Swimming...on the roof

by , 08-05-2010 at 10:32 AM (Purple Trees and Zombies: Trippy Dreams of an Artist/Writer)
I'm taking my sister home from somewhere, have no idea where. It's night and we are on the highway, the only car. I stop at my apartment for some reason, and Stephanie (my sister) wets her hair down - why, I have no idea. I am irritated she's taking so long and tell her to hurry up. I think I get snacks or something from the fridge.

We stop at a church next...and there is an old couple sitting in the pews. Just them, no one else. My sister and I get bored and leave. I don't remember much about this part of the dream.

Still traveling at night, still the only car. But for some reason, I miss my exit and run out of road - literally. The pavement ends and there's a drop off (not huge, but a couple of feet) to this dirt road that's horizontal to my vertical freeway.

We abandon the car and arrive in this town. Everything is run down, and what isn't run down is really old, vintage style places. The library is a shack, the store is a booth in the road, etc.. I want to use a phone to call my dad and tell him Stephanie is going to be late. I end up using one in one of the shack places. Dad on the other end isn't happy with me, and I hang up with the sense that I disappointed him.

There is a nice house in town, a mansion. Somehow, getting Stephanie home isn't priority anymore, exploring this house is. I go in, and look around. Everything is luxury from the rugs to the furniture. I go upstairs and the maid tells me I can go swimming on the roof. I take off all my clothes and sit outside the window, in where the gutter should be, but it's the pool. I'm not worried about being naked as there's a huge privacy fence around the house, and a well manicured lawn. I remember it being really really green.

The pool is the size of a gutter though, and I scoot down until it gets wider and wider. Now the water is covering the entire roof, inside the attic. It's really clear, no dirt at all. I swim and explore the waterlogged rooms, and my sister pops up, asks me what I'm doing. I tell her to come in. The maid starts making us drinks. I sit on this bench that suddenly appears and look into a mirror. I have these weird patches of hair on my chest and get embarrassed. I think I have to go home and shave them off.

At least no one was blond this time. *sigh*
    2. Vampire fragments and Leonardo Decaprio

by , 08-02-2010 at 10:39 AM (Purple Trees and Zombies: Trippy Dreams of an Artist/Writer)
A bunch of frags last night because I didn't sleep well. I'm surprised I even recalled anything at all. Watched True Blood and that influenced many aspects of my dreams.

      Fragment #1

I'm in a car, sitting there waiting for someone. An older man is with me. I know who he is in the dream, but waking, I can't remember. Dom's character from Inception opens the car door and sits down in the driver seat. I scoot over (somehow we can fit all of us in the front seats) Dom tells me to start cleaning up the car, how could I get it so dirty? I begin to clean it with the older man giving me helpful advice on what to use, and how to clean. There was more, but I can't remember.

      Fragment #2

I'm a knight, and I'm searching these tents for survivors. A child calls out for help, a little creepily, but I go anyway. Two children are there, a blond girl and a boy. They peek from their hiding place and tell me to come into the tent. I already know what they are. Vampires. They want me to come in the shade so they can feed. I feel bad when I go in, pretend to be stupid so they attack. I drag the girl out into the sun, but I forget what happened to the boy.

      Fragment #3

It's winter, and I'm taking pictures of these strange peacock/eagles that have landed on this dock. It's red with gray underfeathers. Another comes, black one, and tries to hurt the first. I throw snowballs at it, stunning it and making it fly away. A second one tries to hurt the first and I hurl a big ice ball at it. It slumps over dead, then turns into a man. The red bird shapeshifts into a man and says not to worry, the others were evil.

There was more to this dream, but I can't recall.
    3. From work, to Halloween, to the eighteenth century...

by , 08-01-2010 at 02:21 PM (Purple Trees and Zombies: Trippy Dreams of an Artist/Writer)
I'm at a table at work, making a sign for the employees, something about encouragement. Char, one of my co-workers is annoying me, but I never remember why. I'm trying to find space on this poster board for what my manager, Brian wants. I think I ask Arayna, the day baker, if making a checklist for the employee's achievements is okay to conserve space.

Then it's Halloween and I'm putting on makeup. I don't remember the details, but my mom is there and we are in my old kitchen in the trailer I grew up in. I'm dressed in white, but the costume details are fuzzy. I'm waiting for my friend, Mark to come. I think he'll be impressed by my makeup job. I grab my orange pumpkin pail and head out.

Cut to a woman's house. It's down a dirt road, in the country. I remember white siding and a screened porch. I'm still dressed for Halloween and I think Mark is still with me. The woman gives me these old books instead of candy. They look like picture books from the 50's. I look over to her pile and see two art books on dragons. I ask if I can have one. She gives me one, but then I know the other has more techniques on "how" to draw the pictures inside. Mine just has the pictures. I ask for the other, but she refuses, says it's not for sale. She'll let me look though. This isn't enough and I wonder if I should steal it. The art inside is by Luis Royo, a Spanish (and my favorite) artist. I do remember some of the pictures, most of them had females, blond hair. (There's that blond hair again).

Then Mark is gone, and I'm inside this old mansion. I think I'm babysitting this boy, dark haired and around 12 years old. His mother is sleeping. Another fragment invades this dream and I'm unsure if it's context or where it truly fits. I'm outside in a red snowsuit, covered from head to toe, sitting in the snow. I'm warm and I'm burying myself inside the snow drift. it's sunny outside and I'm right outside my parent's window at their house.

Back to the babysitting, the boy runs away and I have to find him. Joey (friend from work) is there and opens one of those books the Halloween lady gave me. It's newer this time, looks like a travel book. He says the boy might have went to a place inside the book. I have to hurry before the mother wakes and realizes her son is gone. I go outside, cobblestone road under my feet, and there's all these alleys I pass, "hallways" from inside the house. Their walls were wooden, but the floor was the road. One at the end had a cabinet filled with glass tubes and bottles, like a lab. Others had storage cubbies and doors. I see a woman poking around, she has reddish hair and dressed in eighteenth century garb. I wonder what she's up to, but don't investigate at this time.

I go outside and into a marketplace. It's something out of the renaissance, but with goth people dressed in black instead of the renaissance clothing. I look down and realize, I'm dressed in a black dress myself, out of the eighteenth century, but my feet have gray socks, no shoes. I seemed unconcerned, even proud of this for some reason as I walk down the road.

I wander around and forget about the boy. Jewelry stands are everywhere, glittering with every type of jewelry I love. I reach for my purse, but have none. I wonder where Jenny and Adam are, my best friend and her husband. I know they are there, somewhere. I go back to get some money from the mansion, and realize the woman poking around earlier has my money. I see her dart between the hall/alleys and chase her down. I push her around a little, angry and she doesn't fight back. Hugh Jackman, dressed in the same style clothing I have gives me a sickle and says "You know what to do." I ask should I cut the woman's head off, and he laughs, says the sickle isn't sharp enough. So I angle it and slit her throat. She doesn't struggle the entire time, and I feel nothing when I do this.

Once dead, Hugh searches her body and gives me three pouches, one maroon, and two dark green. There's money inside, but I'm not sure how much. I know she robbed the mother while she slept, and apparently someone else besides me. I keep all three purses.

      Interpretation:

The last dream was one I had right before waking, therefore, all the details were still quite vivid. No lucid. Which is, again, annoying, but I'm starting to notice a few themes I haven't before. The blonds are now looking dubious to me. Why the hell am I dreaming about blonds? Every night so far has had blond females. The art books are kinda self-explanatory as I wish to get back into drawing again, but I'm not sure of my skill level. Halloween is my favorite holiday...and Mark in RL is a makeup artist, among other things so yes, I would be interested to see what he thought of my makeup. Snow and the snowsuit...have no clue. A memory invading? I never owned a red snowsuit though. The jewelry and the whole renaissance bit is also simple. I love those type of necklaces and Ren fest is coming up this month. I'm afraid I won't have the money to buy anything. Not sure on my clothing or lack of shoes. Not sure about the boy and the sleeping mother, or what was going on with killing the thief. As for the work part of the first dream, not sure either. Maybe because things have been tense with the managers and district manager lately.
    4. Amusement Parks and Arguments

by , 07-31-2010 at 10:43 PM (Purple Trees and Zombies: Trippy Dreams of an Artist/Writer)
Still can't LD to save my life. Really frustrating. On the upside, I am recalling better so I guess that's something. Maybe a few more nights of good recall can help me achieve LD.

Anyway, the first dream is a little fuzzy. We are at Ceder Point, or "my version" (one of many) of it, with my aunt Delores (whom I am estranged from) and her three boys who are in their twenties now, but for the dream, still children. I wanted to ride a roller coaster, the Raptor, but couldn't find it. They all were eager to ride this pirate ride, which I shied away from because it didn't seem safe to me.

They get on, and the operator loses control of the "rope" he pulls to make the machine sway (why he's using a thick "rope", I have no idea). He tells me to help him hold it so the people won't get hurt. I don't know what to do and start panicking. There is no way I can keep that stupid ship from crashing. I never see the end of this dream...

Second dream is about Star Trek...two girls are fighting in an arena. They are held in these black anti-gravity straps (hovering there while they beat the crap out of each other). They have powers akin to androids. Laser beams and super strength, reflexes. As soon as the fight starts, one of the girls loses her powers and gets clobbered by the other. There were other details, but nothing concrete to describe. I do remember seeing stars outside the window...but that's it.

Third dream was me at my parent's house going to sleep on the couch. I had colored pencils and ended up clinking them a little as I settled down. My mother comes out and bitches that I'm making too much noise. An argument (no surprise there since I have spoke to her since last December) ensues, and my dad comes out to back my mother up. Again no surprise there as he always does that no matter what her problem is. They say I need to move out, and the rest of the dream is spent trying to call people to pick me up, and trying to find another place to live. I do recall my best friend popping in the kitchen at one point to give me advice where to go.

Fourth dream took place in twenty minutes and was my best chance to WILD. Alas, no go. But it was really vivid. There was boy with a strange creature following him. It would take over people to catch him. I was watching all this, and it became aware of me watching. The boy, somehow, was tricked into entering this apartment with two older men. One wanted to hurt him, the other wanted to ransom him for money or something. I ran out and tip a detective who, instead of arresting the men, calls them on the phone. Either way, it provided a distraction for me to grab the boy's hand and get him out of there.

We enter a door, and inside the room there is another door. It's blue. A dark-haired woman opens it, and I know her sister peeking over her shoulder is infected with this thing that wants the child. Apparently, stupid me went into a connecting apartment. Oops.

I'm in a car now, and two women are in the backseat (have no idea where the boy went) who ask the driver (an older man who I never met) to stop at the bank. I realize the man is that thing again and I need to get out of the car. He stops at this large bank, the sign and building something out of the twenties or thirties. Vintage looking. This is when my alarm goes off.

      Recurring themes:
Amusement Parks, blond women, a child in danger, something lurking inside people, family estrangement.

    5. Fragments that make no sense

by , 07-30-2010 at 10:38 AM (Purple Trees and Zombies: Trippy Dreams of an Artist/Writer)
I think I was angry at myself for moving every time I woke up last night. I have cats and it's second nature to throw them off me (one likes to lay on my head) when I wake. I have to get more disciplined with this. *sigh*

Anyway, for what I can remember, I was dressed in a nightgown more suited for winter than summer, pale pink and up to my neck like a granny nightgown. I was trying to sleep in the bathroom, my bed somehow fitting where the toilet should be and the wall. I do remember combing my hair with one of those simple black combs that hair stylists use - which is impossible to do in reality as my hair is naturally curly. My hair color was odd, bright electric blue streaks with white blond and my normal color. It was raining outside, and the rest is fuzzy but it had something to do with unplugging a lamp? Not sure.

There was a noise downstairs and when I opened my apartment door, the downstairs was actually more than one door leading into the laundry room: it was an entire downstairs, wooden railings and flights of stairs. There was a door to the left of my apartment, one that's not there in RL. I open it and the room is a mess, with a bunch of men messing around with each other (yes, like that) I giggle and close it. Someone is standing on the stairs and asks what they were doing. I make innuendos and the DC nods in understanding.

Then...I woke up, went back to sleep and remember a jungle, I'm climbing trees and am disgusted by all the bugs I keep touching as I'm climbing. I don't want to fall because there is a tribe of nasty natives on the ground. They have a giant crocodile. I do end up getting caught, but as I run, I go into this mall-type place and see the Doctor from a show called Doctor Who (LOL). I'm happy to see him because he can help me. However, the natives end up killing him and I wind up sitting next to my dad on a couch in what used to be my best friend's house. We are watching what I experienced on TV.

      So weird.
    6. Nightmare, cat mutaliations. (Do not read if you are squeamish)

by , 07-29-2010 at 10:47 PM (Purple Trees and Zombies: Trippy Dreams of an Artist/Writer)
This is copy pasted from my LJ. An older dream, but one very vivid, and a bit gruesome at the end. As I say in my title, do not read if you are squeamish about animals getting hurt.

      Dream #1:

I'm driving to work and see bunnies on the side of the road. It's day time, and I think it's summer. There's a ton of them laying there and hopping around. I stop and get out. They aren't afraid of me. I go over and sit in the center of them. They are white, with brown ears. I pick up a baby bunny. I pet it and set it down, then I pick up a smaller one and pet that one. I see a big yellow hump in between the bunnies. I squint my eyes at it and it rises and rushes me. I stop it from hitting my chest with my free hand and it bounces back and disappears. It was a baby toy chicken; I remember the black dot eyes and the orange bill.

      Dream #2

Later, I'm walking down a road in a trailer park. It isn't my park, but another I don't recognize. It's midday and summer. For some reason, I want to find a kitten. A couple strolls by. I can't remember the man, but the woman is older. The woman is holding two tiny puppies, both are white and fluffy, but I don't want to pet them. The woman holds them out to me, but I walk away. The next street over, I find a white cat a little girl is holding. She won't let me touch it.

      Dream #3

I'm at work and some things happen that I can't remember, but I take a break and go to the bathroom. I change into my Subway shirt and pajama bottoms. Two girls enter and talk about something, but I ignore them. They leave. A man then enters and I think nothing of it. I discover I'm on my period. I walk out and wash my hands. The man is watching me. He's Asian. I wash my hands; there's blood on them. The man says nothing.

I leave the bathroom and go outside. It's dark, early morning. A cop is parked near Panera Bread, but he's just sitting there. I have my notebooks with me. They are blue. I go to the grocery store, Hiller's Market (it's a part of the same mall Panera is). A man joins me. He has blond hair and is also carrying notebooks. His are blue as well. We enter and the man says he's going to get us a good seat. I nod and follow. The store is set up backwards. There is a high school there for a write in and I think I can work on my NaNoWriMo novel finally. The students have long tables in the produce section. The tables are covered in newspaper. The students notebooks and the chairs are red. For some reason, this makes me realize they aren't writing for NaNo, but they're there for another reason. I feel sneaky now, and wonder if I'll be caught.

Man comes back and says he found us a seat. I go with him and set my notebook on the table. The students ignore us. I'm hungry. I say I want to get something to eat. Man says okay, I'll wait here. I leave and get caramel apple hard candies, fruity hard candies, and a few items I can't remember. I want a drink. I go to the deli counter because they have drinks there. They have a meat case, but the back is set up like a Star Bucks. The tones are gold and brown. There are gifts on shelves. I decide the drink would be too expensive. I never pay for my food.

I meet the man again in the aisle. He is worried because he thinks we're not supposed to be here. He makes me worried too. Then I see Hugo from LOST, a younger version. He looks angry and runs off. I know he's telling on us. I say to my friend that we should go. He agrees. Then an announcement breaks over the PA and I know it's Hugo again. He says some things I can't remember, but at the end he curses us with a 'were' curse. Instead of wolves we'll turn into lizards. We leave and my companion runs away. I start walking back to Panera, worried and thinking I need help. Two girls come by and tell me that I hurt her, and it's what I deserve. I have no idea what they are talking about.

      Dream #4

I'm driving around an apartment complex. It's fancy, and I can't find a parking spot. The sky is overcast and it's daytime. Many spots are open but I don't want them. I finally park on the lawn. Two black men in suits are watching and talking among themselves. They say nothing to me.

I go into the complex and to the second floor. There were no stairs. I see a registry in the center of a big room, and a door beyond it. The registry is wooden, and the place to sign your name flips up instead of to the side. The registry's full of black and white vintage photos of women. There's many of one girl in a bikini, different poses. I think she's pretty, but I know she's dead. I take a picture out and I hear a click. The door is open, but I can't find it now. A women enters. She is dressed in a lab coat. She says right this way. I follow her and I'm dressed in a maroon salon gown with white trim. I try to button it in the back, but I could only find one snap. I'm naked underneath.

In the lobby, there are two doctors dressed in blue surgery scrubs. They are talking to each other. The woman says to take off all your jewelry. I take off several gold rings, one gold necklace, and gold earrings. The men watch and joke that the boss is "cracking down".

The woman wants to take blood, and I follow her to a desk with a weird machine on it. The machine looks like the face of a ounce scale without the gray knob in the middle (I use them at Panera for weighing meat). She says to stay standing as she pokes my finger. I watch as she takes a drop and sets it where the gray knob should be. The dial spins. She seems annoyed with the results, and she wants to take more blood. She says to sit down this time, so I do. She jabs my thumb twice and ends up with too much blood. This time, she seems satisfied. My finger never touches the machine.

Then she says that I have to see the grindroom before I can treated. (I think this stems from the last dream about the curse). I say okay, but get a weird feeling. She leads me down a long hall to a room full of bunnies and cats in glass cages. The woman leaves. I think the animals are cute, but I hear a awful grinding sound. There is another woman in an apron; she has cats on the metal table in front of her. The cats are all different colors, but the one that stands out the most is an orange tabby. The woman has a bloody saw in her hand and the cats are squirming. I see a huge pit next to her with whirling blades. The blades are all bloody. I start to cry because I know what she's doing, but I never stop her. Nor do the cats try to fight back. There is no sound at this point. None. She starts cutting them up and throwing them into the pit. I cover my face and run from the room, sobbing. I remember thinking that this was a test, and I didn't know if I had failed or not.

I woke up then, and yeah, I was bawling. After I calmed down, I laid there and recollected. Then I got up and wrote it all down. Still a little shaky from the last bit and every time I think about it I want to cry again.

    7. Late for work, and electrocuting ghosts

by , 07-29-2010 at 10:41 AM (Purple Trees and Zombies: Trippy Dreams of an Artist/Writer)
I recall little of the beginning, but it might have been the night (or morning) before work. Melanie (co-worker from Subway) was in bed with me, but we weren't playing around like that. It was more "slumber party", than sexual. I remember setting the alarm, angry at Melanie for some reason.

Cut to the car; we are driving down the road, my lap desk is on the roof of the car, or in front - not sure. But I'm concerned for my belongings, so I bring it inside. I take out my laptop and pen tablet; Melanie is watching and in the back seat. Not sure who's driving, lol.

I want to go to a store before work, I look at a clock in my mother's kitchen to gage the time (should have known then I was dreaming, being "suddenly" in my mother's kitchen) and determine I have 15 minutes to get to this store. However, my dad has to get money from the bank. He drives us into the parking lot; it's empty, but he tries the door anyway. The bank is closed. We leave, and I mention something that he should have known the bank was closed since no one was parked outside. He makes some flippant comment back, but I can't remember what it was.

Back to the house and Melanie is unconcerned with getting to work on time. I'm getting pissed at her, not for being late for work, but I really want to get to this store (have no clue what store it was, but I really wanted to go). Mom gives me marshmallows for some reason, says I should eat. I put one in my mouth, but then take it out and set it on the counter. Melanie it doing something with laundry, or is in the laundry room doing something, not sure what because -

Outside, we are getting ready to leave. These people show up, a few college-type guys, and a lady with short, blond curly hair. She is carrying munchies and a large butcher knife. This gives me pause, but Melanie assures me she's cool. The woman affirms this with a grin and shakes the chips in her hand. We all pile into the car, and I'm annoyed I'm smushed against the door. The door itself becomes only a frame, a yellow steel frame I have to lock or it'll open while we're moving. I don't want to fall out.

Now I'm outside a house, it's fancy, maybe a mansion. There is a gondola on the roof, lit up and with windows. Everyone that was in the car is inside, frightened by all the water on the floor, running from the sinks. No one can shut them off. I know there is something nasty inside the house, waiting to hurt people.

To confirm this, my awareness goes to the gondola, where Melanie is there with two children. I can't remember the details of the children, just a boy and girl. The girl is blond and wearing a dress, I think. Melanie has been taken over by...something. It makes her jump in a graceful arc from the gondola ledge into a window. For some reason, I remember her hair rippling in the wind. That really stands out in my dream.

I'm back inside, and I try to get off the floor (where the water is) by holding onto a sink and holding my legs up. Why I'm doing this...I have no clue. But I know whatever is in Melanie, it's going to electrocute people. A moment later, I relax. I'm immune to electroshock. Silly me.

I go downstairs and confront Melanie, who then changes into an old man in a tan suit. He smiles before trying to kill me, and I smile as the attempt fails. The others aren't watching, too busy running around panicking. He frowns and becomes angry. The shock itself is uncomfortable; I can feel it shooting up my legs. He leaves and I follow, taunting him that he's angry I won't die (yes, let's taunt the mean electrocuting monster :/ ). He falls into an ornate chair as if exasperated, changing appearance again into a blond heavy-set woman who rolls her eyes at me.

      I wake.

Themes seem to be blond hair, water (as usual), food (I am on a heavy lifestyle change, lost 35 pounds so far), and perhaps money? Work seemed to be the farthest thing on my mind during the dream.
