    1. Psych Stuff

by , 04-12-2014 at 07:33 AM (Inside the Mind of Mattlantis)

My dream from Thursday morning has almost no recall at all. I remember there was a notebook with things written in it that I was reading. Apparently I learned some interesting psychological test you could perform on two people, so I had them try it in this notebook. Basically what you did was have them anonymously write notes to each other, and it tested their compatibility or something weird like that. I remember that I tested my roommate James with some guy named Franklin, and I tested a friend from high school named Jerri-Ann with Abby, another friend of mine. I have something written in my notes about a succubus, but I don't remember it at all, and there was some white-haired green-eyed girl who was somehow relevant to the dream. I also wrote that I was "hired" for something but I have no clue what.
    2. Wal-Mart Rpg

by , 04-12-2014 at 07:20 AM (Inside the Mind of Mattlantis)

Sadly, most details from this dream I had Wednesday morning are gone, but it gets worse as the week progresses. I vaguely remember seeing some cowboys in a Wal-Mart that looked more like a glorified gas station, and there was something about two teams, one of which I was on, who were competing. We had some kind of rpg setup and leveling system, and apparently one of the ways we could gain experience was by destroying things in the Wal-Mart. I remember wandering the aisles with some kind of lightsaber and breaking a few things, turning to fight the people on the other team periodically.

    3. Porcelain Torture

by , 04-12-2014 at 07:16 AM (Inside the Mind of Mattlantis)

I haven't been keeping up with my dream journal this week cuz I've been kinda busy with homework, and honestly, being a bit lazy. I did keep notes, but I did notice a slight drop in my recall because I wasn't making entries properly. However, I got to top off the week with another lucid, so I'd say it was WERTH. Here's my dream from Tuesday.

I was in a strange water park which consisted of random slides and porcelain surfaces and tubs that were incredibly bouncy (the surfaces resembled the material the slides are made of in the picture). I was enjoying myself and possibly talking to someone as I slid around and bounced high into the air. At some point I obtained a large back of chips (the kind with multiple types individually wrapped inside the large bag), and I stumbled upon a hole with water flowing into it made of a similar material, so I slid down it with my chips. I ended up trapped in a chamber with bloodstains on the floor and walls with several other trapped people, who were apparently starving. Two grabbed me and pulled me to the wall, while the rest converged on the bag of chips and tore into them.

The dream skips a bit and I remember being on a sloped rocky hill, chasing "some villain" who resembled Loki. I could see his health bar in the corner of my "HUD," and he was poisoned and almost dead as I snuck up behind him, whittling his health down with the poison and my strikes. He eventually collapsed, and next I was looking down upon Summoner's Rift from League of Legends, as if I was playing, but I was also one of the characters. I was face-checking the brush at top lane when I was ambushed by Darius and Mundo. I don't remember the details, but I ended up killing both of them with a little health remaining.

    4. Cobraaaaaaaaaaaaa!

by , 04-07-2014 at 05:47 AM (Inside the Mind of Mattlantis)

In this dream, I was playing Super Smash Bros. Melee with a few of my friends, except it had some really weird characters in it. Among them were Cobra, the Power Rangers (yes, all of them), and Sandshrew. The two Ice Climbers also counted as separate characters, and Marth and Ike were in it, even though Roy wasn't. I thought this was odd (in the dream), and I couldn't remember any of these strange characters in the time I had spent playing SMB before, but I just kind of rolled with it (I'm getting more aware in my dreams it seems, but other than the vague lucidity the other night, still no lucidity). We played a few rounds and I got my ass kicked since it had been so long since I played it apparently, then after a while "something" happened and "someone" told me they loved me. I also had a false awakening where I woke up at 3:57 p.m., and I had to work at 4 today. I woke up for real shortly after at about 11 a.m..

    5. Fish Cats?

by , 04-05-2014 at 05:03 AM (Inside the Mind of Mattlantis)

This one is pretty fuzzy, and I only remember a few flashes other than a part near the middle that I remember better. I remember something sexual towards the beginning of the dream, but only a few brief images. Then there was apparently some villain, but that's really all I remember.

Near the middle of the dream, I was in my house with a large fishtank in front of my fireplace. My cat Trixie was there, along with another cat we had gotten that looked identical. We apparently had just bought two more that ALSO looked the same, but these were specially bred "aquatic" cats. I picked them up out of the carrier they were in and put them into the full fishtank, where they started swimming around underwater, breathing just fine as if they were fish. Trixie and the other normal cat were curious and pawed at the glass. I eventually took the cats out and let them run around the house, but then I got confused and mixed up all the cats. To fix it, I just said Trixie's name and she meowed. My mom, my three little cousins and I just kinda hung out with the cats for a while, and we played with what I think was a remote control helicopter. That's about it.

    6. Sejuani and Falling

by , 04-03-2014 at 05:52 AM (Inside the Mind of Mattlantis)

I am writing this late at night, but I actually took some notes this morning so I can remember this dream fairly well. The ending made me wake up really early so I took notes then went back to sleep, but we'll get there.

The first part of this dream I remember was being in a jungle area with a lot of wooden fortifications, tree forts, and things of that nature, inhabited by gnolls and some other creatures from World of Warcraft. I was some rogue-type character, and I somehow "knew" that I was level 1 and I knew my way around the area because I had "done it before," presumably as another character. This seems to occur a lot in dreams, and I should probably start looking for it as a dream sign, but that's a little tricky due to the disconnected feeling associated with playing a video game, which is what most of my dreams feel like.

Anyway, there were these relic type objects scattered throughout some of the forts, and if you destroyed a few of the ones in a certain area, you could gain a new base, more money, or other rewards. So I was climbing around stealthily and assassinating a lot of the gnolls as well as destroying the relics.

After doing this for a while, I moved to another area which was a huge frozen mountain area and the dream took on a new feel. I was now a part of a 5v5 battle in this area, a la League of Legends. I was Sejuani, which is odd because I never play her. After a small teamfight on top of a small plateau, I chased down another character who had escaped with little help. I can't remember for the life of me who it was I was chasing. It may have been Katarina, because I vaguely remember that it was a female with red hair.

After giving up on the chase I explored a bit, still Sejuani. There were several wild white wolves in a rocky area and I just stampeded past them, turning to strike them a few times to get them off of my tail.

I eventually came to a sheer cliff with a wall on the left side, and the wall and floor had many wooden "supports" sticking out. There was something valuable on the other side but the cliff was extremely windy, threatening to blow anyone who tried to cross off of the edge. I dismounted whatever Sejuani's mount is and suddenly became myself again. I skittered along the edge of the wall, holding onto the supports, and managed to get to the other side very easily. I recovered the treasure and began to make my way back, but suddenly the wind picked up even more. It pushed me back towards the cliff and I almost fell, but managed to grab onto a wooden pole at the last moment. I tried pulling myself up with it, but it ripped out of the ground and flew behind me. Now crawling, I was avoiding enough of the wind to get back to the wall. However, the wind was so intense that it kept ripping out the supports as I tried to hold onto them, and I nearly fell several times. During this time, I was "talking" to someone who wasn't there, and they made some comment about the reason the surface was so slick was because it was "good rust" and "bad wood," which struck me as very odd. I was about halfway back when it finally threw me off of the edge and I fell while laying on my back. I heard someone else talking about this bottomless cliff going on for eternity and getting infinitely colder as you fell, so I braced myself for the death I was sure would come and I felt the air growing colder quickly. However, it only really affected my ears for some reason, and they still didn't really feel all that cold. I could see blurry trees begin to move up into my field of vision, and I quickly realized that I was going to hit the ground and not freeze. My last thoughts were "Goodbye world," and then as I thought of my loved ones, "I'm sorry." Rather clichéd and deep for a dream death. When I hit the ground, everything went black and my back felt warm and dull, almost cramped feeling. And then suddenly my eyes opened and I was laying in my bed, hot under my blankets and sweating a bit.

It was two hours before my alarm was set, so I took notes and went back to sleep. Sadly, I don't recall any further dreams.

    7. Still Vague

by , 04-01-2014 at 02:03 PM (Inside the Mind of Mattlantis)
Fell back asleep after snoozing my alarm so I barely remember the dream I had, even less so than the night before. I really need to get myself motivated to wake up better. All I remember is being inside a vague yellow room, probably in a school somewhere and talking to someone about something.

    8. Bad Memory (Again)

by , 03-31-2014 at 06:59 PM (Inside the Mind of Mattlantis)
Writing this late in the day so nearly the entire dream is gone. There were actually three though, and the middle one was a false awakening (which seem to be becoming more common) wherein my roommate was walking around the room in the morning and playing loud music (which he would never do while I was asleep). I vaguely recall something to do with spy work but that's about it. I'll post more if I remember later but I doubt I will.

    9. I Am Gyorco!

by , 03-28-2014 at 02:47 PM (Inside the Mind of Mattlantis)
Hello again. Going to try getting back into lucid dreaming AGAIN because I'm sick of having so few, badly remembered, non-lucid dreams. I'm a freshman in college now, but without further ado, here's my last dream.

As with many of my dreams, this was heavily influenced by video games. This one was similar to Blue Dragon, a turn-based rpg, although with much more customizable skillsets and characters. I was there, although I looked a bit like Shu from Blue Dragon, and the other characters were Alisa from Gods Eater Burst, a darker skinned guy who was rather quiet and came from a bad background (I think he used to be a bad guy and we recruited him), and some other girl. I vaguely remember being in an underground city similar to Undercity from World of Warcraft and exploring the sewers and tunnels and things. In the dream, you could learn multiple shadows (this probably won't make much sense if you don't know Blue Dragon) and assign each one different skill and traits. I had one dragon that I set to be a damage dealer with some tanking capabilities who attacked at a medium speed. You could set whether you wanted a character to attack quickly, resulting in 3+ strikes in one turn, medium, resulting in 2-3, or slow, resulting in one powerful strike each turn. You could learn new shadows by finding spheres in certain areas, and at one point, the dark-skinned guy and I found two so we each took one. I got a dragon that looked bulkier and older, and he got a strange looking minotaur. I decided to assign this dragon to be a heavy hitter, so I set it to slow and started speccing it to hit heavily but with no tanking abilities. Unlike Blue Dragon, we were not dependent on our shadows for every attack, and we actually used weapons. Different types of weapons could only be used with certain attack speeds, and at one point I found 3 clubs with great stats so I ended up switching everyone to slow except the fourth girl, who remained fast because she had a dagger. I assume the shadows were reserved for special attacks and magic.

At some point I ran into a "friendly monster" named Gyorco who would trade me random monster parts for rare items. He was tall with long limbs, slightly resembling a troll. We found him several times as we were exploring this large plains area, killing things for experience. Then later, we found another "friendly monster" who looked similar to Gyorco, however, this one was rather timid and seemed as if it had just recently mastered the art of speech. It didn't really seem to understand most of what we said to it, and it spoke in short exclamations like "Kill?" and "Scary!" A menu of my possible speech options popped up on the left in typical video-game fashion, and after trying Talk, Shop, and Approach (none of which had any real results), I tried the option that seemed like a joke: "I AM GYORCO, MASTER MERCHANT!" Surprisingly, it worked, and the monster warmed up to us and ended up trading with us.

    10. Demon? In Chicago

by , 07-22-2012 at 07:17 PM (Inside the Mind of Mattlantis)
Damn my tiredness! I lost a big chunk of the beginning of this dream because I stayed in bed too long. Still pretty cool though.

First thing I remember is driving through Chicago in my car, tracking down some villian. He has been absorbing souls, and supposedly, once he gets 100, he will be invincible. He was at 98, and he steals the souls through touch. So needless to say, I was driving pretty recklessly. I eventually found the house he's supposed to be hiding out in, and I ran into a family I knew from earlier in the dream. They were also tracking this "person," and it turned out they were moving into this house by coincidence. They had two daughters and a son, the son was my older step-brother, Cody. The older daughter was a hot emo girl, and the younger daughter was just..... Well, a regular little girl. There is a gap in my recall here, then I remember finding the villian. Just as I as about to kill him, he absorbed the soul of the little girl. He got several new powers from this, then some stuff happened, he absorbed another soul from "somewhere," so now he was at 100. We kept fighting, though I'm not sure if it was with swords or fists, and I only vaguely remember it at all. At one point he made a remark about not being able to get near me, then I got the bright idea to hug him tightly. It robbed him of his powers, and slowly weakened him. It had something to do with my "pure intentions," and holy things could still harm him. I pushed him to the ground, we talked for a while about how he didn't want his story told in a bad light, because apparently he was doing all this out of revenge (which in retrospect makes no sense). Then the parents showed up with holy weapons. I explained to them that I was beating him this way, but just then he absorbed MY soul, which had no effect on me for some reason, then broke free. Somehow I got inside his "inner world," and started releasing the souls from inside. That's all I remember.

I don't think my recall has ever been this good! Four dreams in one night? That's unheard of for me! I think anally writing in my dream journal has helped. The melatonin too.

Me, two friends, and a teacher/commander dude were in a space station. From the inside, it looked like a standard building on Earth, complete with full gravity, though it had a la-bor-a-tor-y feel to it. One of the rooms had an entire wall open to space, though we could still breathe and nothing was getting sucked away. This was the room where we put on our space suits, which were drastically slimmer than the RL models, though they still had the clichéd bubble helmet. The three of us (not the commander) squeezed into a satellite looking thing, that took us out into the asteroid field. When we got out and set foot on an asteroid, the commander was already there, with no spacesuit (and may I say the stars in the background looked pretty cool). The gravity was less, but still very present. He gave us these weird grid bubble tray looking things. Basically a 3D light blue grid with bubbles where the lines intersected. We were to pull these through floating dust on the asteroids, which collected something from the dust into the bubbles. I think it may have been water. Once we filled all of them, we got back in the satellite/ship, went back to the station, and put away the trays and suits.

      Fattest. Chipmunk. Ever.

There was some type of zombie/mutagen virus scenario going on, in my house. Me, my mom, and some stereotypical zombie game protagonist were sitting in the living room watching TV, when my mom told me to go get a tissue and blood sample from one of the infected. Apparently we kept all the infected out of one half of the house, because beyond this half there was blood and dirt everywhere. I'm not sure how we pulled it off, since our house is pretty open, and anything could just walk through it. When I went over there, I saw a bloated infected chipmunk chasing a healthy one, and the only way it could move was by flopping. His stomach was easily the size of two tennis balls. He eventually gave up on chasing the other one, then I made a whistle that my cat usually responds to, and he started enthusiastically following me. I remember thinking "I don't wanna touch that," and leading it onto a hand towel laying on the floor. Then I took a blade/chain/whip thing, and sliced into its neck, reluctantly killing it. I did it again, at a different angle, then tore out a chunk of perfectly white flesh with red spots. It reminded me of a potato. My mom walked over and I gave it to her, then she handed me a syringe to get the blood sample.

      Changing in a... Suicide Booth?

I was a member of the Planet Express crew on Futurama, and we were preparing to go on a mission which involved someone putting on a protective suit which just happened to smell like rotting fish. Leela said she couldn't wear it because she had a date tonight, and I of course didn't want to wear that thing, so we made Fry do it (big surprise). He got into what looked like a suicide booth to change, and was trying to put it on with it touching as little of him as possible. We quietly laughed at him as he tried to put it on, and then he fell over inside the booth, the suit touching all of him. Then it went silent, and we walked to the front of the booth (we had been beside it) and saw his silhouette standing motionless. When we opened it, he was hanging from the cieling with no noose, eyes and mouth wide open, as if he was dead. We knew he was playing a joke, then shut and opened the door again. And his jacket was missing. We did it again, and his shirt was off. We kept shutting and opening the door, and every time something was different about his pose. We were impressed that he was able to do that so quickly and silently.

I was at a fair with my dad, step-mom, and step-sister. I don't remember much about this part, but eventually we went to a Wal-Mart nearby to buy something. At one point we came to a "Learn Español" book section. We talked about Spanish for a while, then left and my step-mom said something like "Oh, let's learn Spanish again," to my dad, while clinging to his arm like a three-year-old. Then I guess we forgot something, and turned around to go back into the store. I saw my friend Patricia, and we waved to each other. We went in and out of the store quickly, and this time when we came out Seirra was there. (We were good friends for a long time, then a bunch of regrettable stuff happened and I've been trying to show her how sorry I am, blah blah blah, long story short, she hates me now and talking to her would make me really happy.) She started following us, and said something to me. I thought she was talking to Abbi (step-sister) at first, and asked if she was talking to me. She looked at me as if to say "yes," and we talked casually for a few minutes before I woke up and realized she still won't talk to me.
    12. The Heist + Frag

by , 07-20-2012 at 07:34 PM (Inside the Mind of Mattlantis)
Took melatonin and a b vitamin before bed, for the first time. I had three dreams or so, because I woke up briefly then fell back asleep, but didn't take notes or anything, so I can only remember a bit of one dream, and several parts from the other, but not how they fit together and I KNOW there's a bunch of stuff I forgot to those two. The third is completely gone, as are the rest (if any). The b vitamin didn't really have enough B6 to make a huge difference, but it was there, and the melatonin of course made the dream feel much more stable overall.

      The Heist

The first thing I clearly remember, was "observing" some villian setting a trap in the form of a briefcase he would trick us into stealing. I know a BUNCH of stuff happened before this, but I can only recall walking around a mall/hotel like building and climbing through some type of funhouse. After the observing scene, I was standing on a nearby rooftop with three other people, one of which may have been Dean from Supernatural, and I may have been Sam, but I'm not sure. One of the other people was a (rather attractive) girl, but I can't remember details, and I remember nothing at all about the third person. We were arguing about if we should try to steal this briefcase, and how we should do it. Eventually, Dean said something along the lines of, "No, I can't do this! This is your thing," referring to the complicated computer hacking I would have to do. I think we jumped down to the ground floor of the building with the briefcase, went in the lobby (which felt more like a hospital waiting room than the lobby of a bank), and climbed through the air ducts into a bedroom a few floors up. And I just remembered another part where I was a girl (possibly the other girl in the group), trying to trick some lady in a hotel lobby (which looked like the inside of a department store), but I don't remember why or how, or when this fit into the timeline. After we got into the bedroom, apparently Dean and I had to trick two bisexual girls into thinking that we were also bisexual. I can't remember if this actually had something to do with the briefcase, or if we completely forgot about it and were just lying to try to get in their pants. I believe it was the former. I don't remember any specific images or details, but at some point me and the girl were arguing about some kind of transformation.

      Dream Frag

I was on an island somewhere, which had a very video game-ish feel to it, as if it were something out of a Mario level. There was a part where someone told me "not to do it." Apparently he was referring to some kind of tunnel through the water, which had floating rings (like inside Clanker on Banjo-Kazooie) and a shark in it, that chased me when I went into it. I think I may have flown briefly around the island beforehand.
    13. Craving Sprite

by , 07-19-2012 at 02:12 PM (Inside the Mind of Mattlantis)
I was in high school, first hour, and really tired. I was in Mrs. Trimble's class (which I had sophomore year), except the room was on the far side of the second floor instead of on the opposite side on the ground floor. A few normal boring things happened, then I went back to my locker (also in the wrong spot) and got ready to leave early for a dentist appointment. My mom picked me up (after this point everything seemed normal, including her car and the street) and as we drove, I told her I was craving a Sprite because my throat was sore.

IRL, I do have a dentist appointment today. My mom woke me up about 8:30, then I fell back asleep and had this dream. When I woke, my throat WAS kinda sore, although not as bad as in the dream.

    14. Saving Time and my Grandma

by , 07-18-2012 at 08:26 PM (Inside the Mind of Mattlantis)
I can't remember the last time I recalled two full dreams in one night, so I'm pretty happy about this. I dunno if the multivitamin I took had anything to do with hit, or if writing in a dream journal again has improved my recall.

      Dream One: Hospital Hijinks

I was in a hospital visiting my grandmother (who has been dead for more than five years. When she was on her deathbed, the hospital wouldn't let me see her because I was too young, which I believe sparked part of this dream.) She told me about some kind of conspiracy to kill her, and I had to save her today. I think I checked her out of the hospital (though I don't remember it,) and was wheeling her out on the bed for some reason, when a fire alarm not three feet from where I was standing went off. Everyone assumed I flipped it, when I know I didn't (missed dream sign), so I frantically had to get my g-ma out of there amid the crowd of people swarming me. I think I ran into someone I knew, who took her out for me, because then I was climbing around in the air ducts with someone (I don't remember who or why).

      Dream Two: Day Care Debauchery

I was around ten years old, taking care of a bunch of younger kids in a day care by myself. Along one wall, there were cubicle-like sections where most of the kids would play, and in one corner of the room were bathrooms. At the far side of the cubicle wall, there was what might be described as an office area (for a ten-year-old mind you), where I had all my important things. One of them was one of those blocks with holes in it of different shapes, that came with blocks to fit in those holes. Apparently this thing kept time itself running smoothly, but I didn't know that until later. The dream started with me just walking cubicle to cubicle, checking on the kids periodically. One of them, a little girl, was very attatched to me, and stayed near me the whole time. The weirdest part of this dream was that the little kids were WAY more perverted than anyone should ever be at that age, and every once in a while I'd catch one of them doing something they shouldn't be. At one point an argument was started between a younger girl and an older girl, and they went into the girls bathroom to fight. I was really nervous about it, but I had to follow them to stop them. Just as I walked in, the little one (who was maybe 3) chucked the older one up and over the walls of the stalls, who walked out completely unharmed. After that the argument just stopped for no reason, and we went back outside into the main area. When I went back out there, a bunch of stuff was strewn all over the floor, like empty shampoo bottles with the caps off, screwdrivers, and completely random things that, in retrospect, made no sense. I checked my office area, and the blocks that were inside the time-block were all missing. At first I didn't realize what it was for, but then I noticed that the sun had stopped moving outside and somehow knew that time was frozen due to this block. So I rounded up the kids and had them search for the blocks, and we ended up finding them, but two were too flat and irregularly shaped to fill the holes completely (which they hadn't been before). A lot of the kids gave up hope and pouted in their cubicles, but I kept looking and eventually found one in the shape of a jigsaw puzzle piece, and one in the shape of the moon. I put them into the block, which filled in the gaps. The sun started to set, and I looked back at the kids to explain it to them. I said something about how the missing pieces were the moon and the sun, and when I looked back, the jigsaw-piece was now the sun. I remember thinking it was wierd and got a sudden feeling of detatchment from the dream, almost as if a part of me now realized it wasn't real. (Funny how after the little girl throwing someone, that tiny thing was weird to me.) But then the sun stopped moving, and I told them that we had to put everything back the way it was before time froze. So we picked up the shampoo bottles and other random things, and the sun finally set completely. The kids cheered, and the little girl who had been following me around said something dirty, but it was in a very kiddish way, and I said something along the lines of "Thanks, but I can't do that." I vaguely remember a few parents arriving for their kids, then I woke up.

I was extremely groggy and only put in the tiniest amount of effort to remember the dreams I had already had when I fell asleep again, and had another short dream, that I remember absolutely nothing about. I nearly entirely forgot the first two when I finally did wake up. The first time I woke up may have been a false awakening, but I doubt it, since I've never had one before.
    15. Something Weird

This one's pretty fuzzy, I only got 5 hours of sleep. First, I was watching a girl, somehow become more and more corrupt and evil, in some sort of garden with a fountain, maybe in the courtyard of a castle. Then all I remember is something weird happened that made me want revenge, so I got a sword, got pumped, and jumped into some sort of original Legend of Zelda fight between myself and this thing.
