False Awakening

1. 05/08/2012 - 1st Dream, Beach float

by , 05-08-2012 at 07:36 PM
I got some sleep last night and I had some interesting dreams. This one was lucid, involved flying, and I remembered DreamViews and the lovely people here!

I have a false awakening and I’m lying in my bed at my dad’shouse in California. I find I am not in his current house but the one he hadwhen he lived in Alameda for 25 years. The bed is near the corner of the roomand to my left (while lying on my stomach) is a window, brightly lit by themorning sun.
The window is covered by paper shades, a thin material thatrolls up just like a typical window blind. I lift it up and when my eyes adjustto the bright scene I see the ocean. It’s a beautiful scene to wake up to.
Normally I should see another house from this window, but Ifind myself looking at water instead. I decide I want some pictures to show thepeople on DreamViews, to show off how beautiful the scene I wake up to is. Ifind my camera on the table and place it near the window.
Looking closer, I realize the window is a bit dirty, and Istart rubbing the glass with my finger. It isn’t working as well as I wouldlike, and I think how I hate this effect in dreams. I appear to be aware thatI’m dreaming but I can’t control anything yet. I continue cleaning the glass asbest as I can, hoping to make a nice clean spot for my camera lens.
Noting that some of the dirt is on the outside of the windowwhere I can’t clean, I give up and place my camera near the window. I move thecenter-point around, trying to get the camera to focus properly and adjustexposure, cursing myself for not bringing my film camera. The scene finallyresolves into focus, and I notice that I’m looking out at the bay, not theocean. In the background of the picture, across the water, is a large greymountain that doesn’t normally appear anywhere in the Bay Area.
I stare at the mountain for a minute, trying to figure outhow it got there. It’s not like a normal mountain, covered with trees orsnow-capped. Instead it’s almost smooth, as though it was covered with slopedglaciers. Fracture lines are visible in what appears to be ice, though I havenever before seen a glacier so dull.
I take a couple pictures of this scene and decide I would ratherhave some pictures from the beach, so I get up and walk out of the house.
Normally I would have to walk a few blocks and make someturns to even see water from his house, let alone get anywhere near a beach. Onthis day, however, an alley ran right along the side of the house which ledstraight to the water. I really wanted to fly to the beach and get therefaster, but normal flight didn’t fit in with my desire to swim, so Icompromised and flew on an air mattress. Like most of my flying dreams I movedas though I was in water, lying on the air mattress and pushing my handsagainst the air to move forward. I knew I was dreaming for sure but I had nodesire to change anything.
I flew past many houses and a couple of apartment buildingsas well, and as I came over a slight rise in the landscape I could finally seewater ahead of me. It was a pretty scene, and I tried taking pictures here butthe view wasn’t as open as I would like, and people kept interfering with myview of the water. I knew waiting would work out better.
Arriving at the beach I floated on through a cave in therock to a beach cove that had the most beautiful ocean access. The cove waswide, surrounded by rock except for the cave behind me, and had a nice sandybeach that any surfer would be proud of. The rock walls behind me shaded thecove from the early sun, and a number of families had set up their belongingsin the protected sides of the cove to avoid the wind.
I floated along the length of the beach and just took in theview for a minute. I remembered while I was there in the first place and tookout my camera, fixing my view on a distant buoy perhaps a half-mile out. Ittook my camera a while to focus but this time I was happy to not have anymountains in my view, just the beautiful ocean with some small white caps. Icouldn’t have been happier, and I thought about how great the pictures would bewhen I showed everyone on DV.

And then I woke up.

2. Lucidity - Wolves, Patrick Stewart, Kevin Spacey, and my underpants.

by , 05-03-2012 at 08:02 PM
Last night was an incredible night for dreaming! Not the best ever, butpretty damn good!

I skipped going back to sleep yesterday morning and went to bed earlier thanusual, and the results were fantastic! I not only had lucidity but thoughts pertaining to the forum plagued my mind all night long.

Falling almost immediately to sleep from SP I went right in to dreaming, something I don't usually get to do on the first sleep cycle, but as I havebeen ill of late I was apparently ready for dreaming.

I saw in front of me a patch of woods, brambles perhaps, surrounded byforest. The foliage was thick, deep, and concealed anything behind it. Lookingat it for a moment I realized that I wanted to see a wolf there (seemedfitting) and on command one appeared.

A white wolf poked its head right out of the middle of the shrub and simplystared at me, eyes aglow with an unnatural color. For most people this might bea frightening image, encountering a hungry-looking wolf in the middle of theforest but I was not scared, and instantly I knew I was dreaming. My desire hadbrought the wolf to appear.

I spoke to the wolf. "You're a dream, aren't you?" The wolf saidnothing, nor did it cock its head, but I could see its tongue ever so slightly.

"Hmmm..." I thought for a second. "Go get your friends!"

The wolf retreated into the bush, barely disturbing the leaves as it went. Iwaited, thought I heard a little noise from behind the brush, and then, likemagic, the wolf returned, as did five of its wolf friends. Six heads were nowstaring at me, all with the same unnatural color and stare in their eyes. Theywere all white wolves but there was enough variation in the coloring, style offur, and shape of their heads to make each one appear distinct.

You're my friends, aren't you?" They didn't reply, but their expression said that it was true what I spoke.

This is cool, I thought, now what do I do with them?

This thought triggered the memory of the Lucid Task of The Month, and Irealized I couldn’t remember what it was. I started to get scared that I wouldlose the dream, and I began chanting over and over, “Task of The Month! Task ofthe Month! Task of the Month!” This helped stabilize the dream and I remainedlucid.

I next turned my attention to remembering what the task was. I rememberedsomething about a toy…and then it hit me with a flash! Bring my toy to life! Itried imagining my stuffed Poof-Dog, which normally looks more like a deaf-mutegopher than a dog, but he’s quite old so he deserves a break.

Conjuring an image of him was harder than I thought, considering how lucid Iwas, and the best I could come up with is my daughter’s stuffed dog which shealso named Poof-Dog. Unlike mine, it has ears and still retains a little fluffto its coat.

I brought it to life and made it life-size, and it looked like this:

It stood next to me on a leash and looked up at me happily. He was clearlyready to be played with.

I think my disappointment in not conjuring my own dog (I knew in the dreamit wasn’t my Poof-Dog) is what caused me to lose lucidity, and if the dreamcontinued on at all I don’t remember it.

2nd dream

I found myself in an old brick building, like the ones built in the 50s and60s, with large glazed tiles on every wall, designed to be easy to clean buttotally soulless. I think the building came from an image of an athletic centeradjacent to a church, pulled from my memories and altered slightly. I was lastin the building during a Scouting event, perhaps three years ago.

In the building I find myself at the bottom of a set of stairs leading downfrom the floor above. A small hall leads off to my right.

In front of me is Kevin Spacey. He is wearing black jeans, a loose-fittingwhite shirt with buttons, and a belt. Gesturing wildly, he tells me how upsethe is with *something* and the only word I can think of to describe him is “maniacal”,and this is more of a thought than anything spoken in the dream.

I woke up with the word “maniacal” filling my head. Not mad, not crazy…maniacal.

3rd dream

I find my thoughts filled with reminders of lucidity, probably due to continuousinfluence of the forum. These thoughts seem to run around my mind all nightlong.

The first thing I can recall is standing on the side of a hillside road in California. The road is curvy, with switchbacks, and both sides of the road are coveredwith thick grasses and the occasional wildflower. The grass is tall, brittle, andyellow in color as often seen in California on the western slopes of hills thatborder the Bay Area.

Standing a few feet in front of me is Patrick Stewart. He is wearing blackpants, sleek, like the ones he often appears in on STTNG. His shirt is white, thin, and cottony. It makes him look human, more like the actor and less likethe Captain of the Enterprise.

In a moment of lucidity I try to get him to say, “What the fuck is thisshit?” like I’ve seen in a few of the memes on the net. He won’t say it, andwhile I can make the words appear in the air around him he refuses to say thewords. I’m not sad but it is disappointing.

4th dream

Fragment – I’m getting ready for my doctor’s appointment, a real-life event, and I know I’m late, but I don’t care because I can just reschedule ifsomething happens and I miss it.

5th dream

(False Awakening)

It is morning, and I have to get myself and my daughter ready for school.(In real life I have already done this. I’m sleeping in the chair in the livingroom while waiting for an alarm to go off, telling me it’s time to go to myappointment for my blood check.)

I walk into the bedroom and start taking off my clothes, first my pants, then my underwear. I briefly wonder why I’m taking off my underwear when Imeant to wear them today. My daughter walks in and I tell her to go put herclothes on, we don’t have a lot of time. I turn around and walk to my dresser.Reaching in to my underwear drawer I select a pair of grey bikini briefs andslip them on.

The dream fades and I’m awake. I’m not thinking of the dream, just of mybladder, and I head to the bathroom. I pull down my shorts and underwear, andsuddenly the dream hits me like a brick, and I honestly don’t know if I’m awakeor not. I do a quick nose-plug RC and find that I’m awake. I finish in thebathroom with a weird feeling of déjà vu.

Walking in to the bedroom I head towards my dresser, and right on top of myunderwear drawer is the pair of grey bikini briefs I put on in the dream. Thefeeling was mind-blowing.
