    1. Pool of Fog

      It was nighttime, and I was in the backyard of my house, surrounded by tall wooden fence. The outside of the house was light stucco, and the whole backyard was covered in grass, illuminated slightly by small circular modern lights on the walls of the house itself. There were a few flat, square-shaped stepping stones scattered around the yard. In the middle was a large in-ground pool complete with a few small interior lights, but there was no water inside. Instead, there was fog coming out of it slowly, behaving like smoke but it didn't smell.

      I was sitting on the edge of the "pool" with my sister standing beside me. She told me that she didn't want to go in, and so I somehow jumped in right from that sitting position. I was floating in the fog, and then I thought about sinking down deeper into the pool. I began to go down, and I could hardly see anything around me except gray pool wall. I felt my sister tap me on the head and I suddenly resurfaced. She said, "don't go under, or you'll get amnesia."

    2. Maps and the Lucid Dreaming Craze

      I was in the art room of my school. It was a large rectangular room with white brick walls, solid light gray flooring, and large windows paneling along one of the long walls. There were very long desks going from one long side of the room to the other. On one end of the room against the shorter wall, there were plastic tubs and black racks with students' artwork, scrap paper, scissors, and possibly anything else you could imagine. In real life, our art teacher isn't that organized, and this reflected somewhat in the dream.

      There were many students sitting in chairs at the desks; some I recognized and others I didn't. We were making feather cutouts out of paper at first. I was at a desk too; one of my friends was sitting across from me. I had to get some more tan paper though, because I had accidentally cut mine too much with a pair of scissors. I went to the back of the room where the artwork and scraps were, and I saw one of my friends cutting a certain size of paper with the paper cutter. I needed to use it, so I stood and waited for her to finish.

      She turned around and handed me one of two pieces she cut, smiling a bit but not saying anything. "Thanks," I told her and started to head back to my spot.

      I must have gone down the wrong row, because my friend was two desks away from me. She waved and mouthed something like "over here". I pointed underneath the desk and rolled my eyes, popping down underneath it, and then ground-hogging back up on the other side. I did this twice and I was back at my spot; half the class was laughing. When I was underneath the second desk, there was a sudden, random flash of the Game Boy Color logo.


      Once I got back to my desk, I began to hear people talking about lucid dreaming. They were discussing induction techniques as I colored in the edges of the sheet of paper with brown to make the edges of a map.

    3. Choose Your Ride

      I was on a school field trip with my classmates. We were inside a modern building with white walls; a few of the corners were softened and curved. I don't remember what the flooring was like, but there were a large potted plant and a stand-up menu to the right of the small room. Next to this, there was a purple awning that led to another part of the building, which looked like a restaurant.

      There was a short hallway, a few feet long, in front of our group of around ten people. It opened up into a larger room with five polished wooden pillars; four students started to walk in front of their own pillar and position themselves in front of it. No one else seemed to want to go; they were all standing there, so I took the last pillar. All five of us were now standing in front of one pillar each, which I now realized were labeled with a small sign framed in metal.

      My classmate in front of the pillar beside me laughed, almost in pity. "Oh, Puffin, you got the pain section."

      "Great," I replied, rolling my eyes and exhaling in a gust. I knew that this was a ride, and nothing would really happen to me, but I was still nervous. I knew you could personalize your ride by choosing "pain", "wisdom", "heat", and two others which I forget.

      Suddenly, the room changed. I was on a circular, three- or four- foot thick wooden platform in a darkened room, seated in a chair with a seat belt on. I looked to the left and could see the four people who were with me before, and they were also in a chair. The ride started and it began to tilt backwards; at the same time it went downhill on some sort of track. Above me, there were circular saws, but they were slightly thicker than they should have been, and not shiny.

      The ride lunged back upwards and my knees hit the saws as they turned. I expected pain but realized that the saws were rubber. I looked to the left and above the student beside me, there were flamethrowers (how is that not dangerous?). I didn't look to see what else there was.

      The dream changed again, and now I was in a small banquet hall with brown walls, white trim, and long tables with white tablecloths. My classmates were still there, and they were signing cheques at the various tables. I saw my teacher and I went to her. She had a cheque lying on the table for $22,000.

      "You still owe me two thousand," she told me. But I replied that I didn't have any more cheques on me, and that I had to get some more.

    4. A Muddy Road Strewn with Corn Nuts

      I dug up this entry from a slightly older dream journal.

      It's daytime, probably as light as it could be, and I'm standing on a muddy road with my mother, because our car had broken down and we'd been walking for a few hours. This, I knew even though it didn't actually happen in the dream. On either side of the road were fields with wheat, barley, and anything else that would grow in the middle of nowhere. There were no trees, no houses, and no farming equipment.

      My mom sat down in the mud; I could hear it sloshing in her jeans and shoes. I decided to look ahead and walk some more, and as I walked, I discovered wrappers of corn nuts. The packages were metallic, shiny, and in colors of evergreen, pink, and red. Most of them were empty, but as I bent down, I realized a few of them still had some left. The packages crumpled as I looked inside them for leftover.


      I ate them ravenously. They were very crunchy, almost like hard candy, but I ended up swallowing them like pills, not feeling them go down my throat. I also saw a sky-blue twizzlers package, but I left it there.

    5. Candy Store

      I dug up this entry from a slightly older dream journal.

      I was inside a Candy Store; this place was around the size of a cell phone store and had blue walls, as well as solid and pale confetti-colored flooring. Lining the walls were clear jellybean candy dispensers with different colored jellybeans, and there were a few cylindrical rotating shelves with pull-out drawers spaced out in different areas of the store. The counter with the cashier was in the back of the store in the middle, and it too was painted blue with a confetti-colored countertop.

      My thirteen-year old sister walked up from behind me and said, "I'll be like five minutes in here." I knew I would be taking slightly longer, but I nodded and went to shop. I browsed at a bunch of unidentifiable candy in plastic bags and then went to the jellybean section and looked at the dispensers. I didn't end up buying anything, but then my sister met up with me and she was holding a large, opaque white bag that said "5" on it. I guessed that the five meant pounds.

      She went to the cashier to pay. She was a woman in her forties with curly ginger hair, and was wearing one of those little hats like they give you at Krispy Kreme.

      Except it didn't have anything on it whatsoever, it was just plain white. My sister gave some coins to the woman without even giving them the bag to examine, and then she handed her a survey. My sister looked at me, raising an eyebrow, and then at the survey again. "What is that?" I asked her.

      "A survey about dogs."

      "Why?" I asked her, completely dumbfounded. My gaze then flicked to the cashier who obviously heard my tone of voice and she said, "it's compulsory if you want to buy candy from this store. Take it or leave it, and the candy."

      "This is bull," I spat, immediately frustrated, and took my sister gently by the arm. "We'll get candy somewhere else," I told her. I was still fuming as the two of us stormed out of the place.

    6. Cheese Casserole (Yumyum)

      I was in the basement of my own house, sitting at a computer desk with my sister. However, there was no computer, mousepad, or keyboard. There was nothing to suggest that there was a computer there. Instead, there was a black microwave on the far left of the desk, and I had just placed a casserole dish of some sort inside, which was in a rectangular glass dish. The top was coated with a good layer of cheese, so I couldn't tell what was inside yet. I pressed a single button on the microwave and the casserole began to "cook". Two patches of darker cheese started to bubble, which was a sign that it was done. It only took ten seconds or so. My sister watched the whole time as I took it out and waved my hand over it to cool it down.

      My mother walked through the back door upstairs. That door was right where the start of the stairway downstairs was, so I saw her come in. "I'm home," she called out and then I replied. "Hi mom, I made dinner!" I've never made dinner for her in real life before, especially not as a charity with no reason to.

      I took the casserole, all cooled off, into the washroom where my father was washing his hands. "Can you help me cut this? I'm not too good with these things." He agreed, and pulled out a random knife from behind him, starting to cut the casserole into sixths. I watched as the knife went straight down, and he pulled out a piece. The inside of the piece he took out looked like light pink and tan cake, not at all like a casserole. I looked harder and saw the insides of the other pieces still in the dish. They were all cheese and larger-than-normal macaroni noodles. "Thanks", I told him and took off to my bedroom, also downstairs.

      The lighting in my bedroom was dark, but it was brightened slightly by the light coming from the other room (where the computer desk was). I put the casserole on my bed and somehow managed to tilt it over. "Ugh," I muttered as a lump twice the size of my palm came out onto the light green bedsheets. I put the dish down to the side and tried to pick up the lump with my hand. It was gooey and more like silly putty than sticky cheese. It slipped out of my hand though, so I decided to just leave it there. I turned around and there were two massive garbage bags full of clothes and stuff in my room; they were almost as tall as me. I wiped my hand on one of them to clean it off, and left the room.

    7. Writing with House and his Tongue

      I was in a smaller type of hospital patient room with only one bed; it looked pretty ordinary at first glance.


      It looked pretty much like that, although there was a small rectangular whiteboard behind the bed, up against the wall. There was a black whiteboard marker along the bottom shelf. House was sitting upright in the hospital bed, with a layer of white sheets over top of his lower half. I was sitting in a stool in front of the bed, holding another marker.

      We were writing down different words on the board in some sort of game. I only remember one: House wrote "fouche" on the board while I was turned away, and I asked him what that word meant. He stuck his tongue out at me and I saw a splot of ink on it.

      He must have written the word with his tongue.

      The last thing he said was, "it's the art of writing with your tongue. Duh!" That last word, he said with his classic House-ism tone.

    8. Acid, Stone, the Cat's Tail

      I was at a conventional library. There was only one large room with bookshelves along the walls; in the middle there was a big blue mat with white plastic lounge chairs, like at the beach. The lighting was dimmer than normal.

      I saw the thief (dressed in a black shirt and blue jeans) that took my precious blue stone, and I was going to have to destroy it. He was going to do something bad with it, I could tell. I cannot remember how I got it back, but I remember standing in front of him with a small beaker of hydrochloric acid. I put the stone in and he just stared, upset, but he didn't try to save it. I walked away and went through the doors, still holding the beaker.

      The dream changed. I was now at home on the floor, experimenting with the hydrochloric acid. The carpet was tan and very plush, comfortable to lie on, while the lighting was normal this time around. I carefully put a bronze-colored coin into the acid and watched it disappear within seconds.

      My cat then came around. She was all gray, with a large white patch on her belly coming up the sides and along her face, and two white socks on her front feet (white coloration, not actual socks). Her face was extremely cute.

      She walked, with a slight swagger because her belly was a bit larger than normal, right up to me and sat down. I pet her a few times, running my hand through her fur, and then she suddenly flicked her tail into the acid. She turned around and it was still inside, beginning to dissolve. As with anyone who's stuck something in acid, she started to scream, and I quickly pulled her tail out. There were little bubbles and pink spots on it, but no blood.

    9. Digging through Trash

      This is a dream added from a few months earlier.

      I've never picked through garbage before like some homeless people do. But last night, I was doing precisely that.

      It was probably the middle of the day, because the sky was light and blue. I was outside a bank building made from slightly worn red bricks; the sign of whatever was inside the building was navy blue but the name and logo of the company was skewed, so I couldn't remember what it was like. There was an alley in between this building and another one, and I was looking for stuff. I wasn't homeless, but I guess I was just randomly searching for trinkets. I walked towards a rectangular green dumpster in the alley and opened it up.

      There wasn't anything garbage-like about the items inside. There were brand new articles of clothing, neatly wrapped up in plastic bags, and new toys still in the box. I remember seeing a yellow remote-control race car and something that looked like a Barbie doll. I dug around a bit more and saw some sort of silver coin, around the size of a nickel, sitting on one of the other plastic bags. I held it out and showed my sister, who happened to magically appear while I was looking in the garbage. "Look, I found a coin!" I told her.

      "It's just a coin," she told me, rolling her eyes and turning away.

      "I know, but these are worth a million dollars nowadays!" I told her, trying to persuade her that I wasn't crazy or something.

    10. False WILD

      I was lying in bed, waiting for sleep paralysis to thrust me into a dream (even though I was already in a non-lucid dream!). I was able to curl my hands up into fists and wiggle my toes, which struck me as being slightly odd, but only in an interesting way and nothing else.

      Even though my eyes were closed, I could see through them. I also had a second pair of eyes looking down on myself from above, near the ceiling.

      I then heard a woman's voice begin to narrate, almost as if it was telling me what to expect in sleep paralysis. It was a slightly kind voice, as if in a commentary. It began by saying, "in sleep paralysis, remember that nothing is real. Everything is in your mind". The voice continued describing sensations as they happened. The last thing that happened was the covers at my feet being pulled away, and then the voice said, "you may also get the sensation that there's the shadow of something looming over you." At the same time, I actually got that sensation down by my feet.

      I then found myself back in bed with no feelings of sleep paralysis anymore. My arms were also both at my sides again, and not under my pillow. I slowly got up, did the digital clock RC with my alarm clock, and it was negative: no dream. I did it a few times just to make sure, and also performed the nose-plug RC, but still no dream.

    11. Floating in the Classroom

      This is a dream added from a few months earlier.

      The entirety of this dream occurred in one classroom. It had beige walls, and long modern wooden desks; each desk was almost the length of the classroom and had many laptops lined up, with a swiveling chair in front of each one. Outside, it was pretty dark. Although the lights were off in the room, there was a long line of windows (like in reality) along the side of the classroom, and so enough light came in to illuminate the area.

      The door to the room was closed.

      I was with my friend, Alex. which wasn't really that odd. However, the strange thing was that we were both floating. To make things even more bizarre, I was wearing a normal, everyday outfit, but my Coach runners each had one maraschino cherry on the lace part.

      We stayed in the classroom, floating and drifting around for a few minutes, and then Jim Carrey suddenly opened the door and walked right in. He asked us how we were able to fly, and neither of us knew how to explain it.

    12. Astronaut Suit and Sausages

      I was in my kitchen, but it didn't look anything like the real thing. This room had light-colored wooden cabinets, drawers, and even countertops. I should also mention that the flooring was white marble like one would find in a million-dollar mansion. The lights were on, casting a yellow glow, but it was pitch black outside.

      I was walking around for no apparent reason, and I stopped at the stove (which was a normal-looking black color).There were two sausages sizzling in a pan, but there was no light indicating that the stove was on. I pushed a large round button that stuck out of the panel on the back of the stove; it was about the size of my palm. The sausages stopped cooking as soon as I pressed it.


      I turned around and sat on the countertop, looking around the room almost in a restless fashion. There was no table for people to sit at. I looked down and I was suddenly in an astronaut suit. It had way less details than it should've had though, and it didn't seem like I was looking through a helmet. I spent the rest of the dream looking around the kitchen for some unknown item.

    13. Crawling up to the Chimney

      I went to bed at 3:00 AM last night and I was very tired.

      It was fairly dark outside, the area illuminated by street lights, and I was in the yard in the front of an unknown friend's house, possibly for a party. Their house was two stories and all brick, except for the door and two large windows that looked like oak wood. There were a lot of people in the grassy front yard, I'm guessing at least twenty.

      I heard this strange noise that sounded like a cross between a squeak and a balloon popping behind the house. A strange man rushed out from the back of the house (which was illuminated like the front and not dark) and said, "the chimney's blocked".

      Now, I had my own idea of getting it fixed but my friend probably wouldn't approve of it.

      I snuck over to the side of the house, which was completely flat brick and there was nothing to grab onto. I went around to the back, which was lit up by two large circular lights on either side, and saw that in the middle of the house, there was a long rectangular indent. This indent went all the way up from the ground to the roof, and it was a few feet deep. There were irregularly-shaped pipes coming out from the walls of this indent which I used to climb up the wall.

      I had to grab the walls of the house itself a few times, because some parts had no pipe. I punched holes in the paper-thin brick walls to pull myself up.

    14. Wimpy Food Fight

      For the duration of this dream, I was in a pretty average-looking classroom that had white walls and gray molding, while the size of the room must have been average, the shape rectangular. The carpet looked like teal Berber with bits and pieces of purple. Light tan desks with steel legs (not the wooden variety) were arranged in neat rows with even spacing. Each had a brown plastic chair, again with steel legs, pushed underneath. There was a long white board at the front of the room and the desks faced that direction.

      The time must have been around lunch break.

      At my school, people tend to eat in classrooms with their friends instead of in the cafeteria, so this reflected in the dream. There were around fifteen different students scattered around the room; four or five of them were in a close cluster in one corner in front of the white board.

      One of the students was leaning back in her chair, with another one from the adjacent desk pulled close to her; her food and drink was on the chair as it acted like a table.

      There were no other free chairs in that cluster of students, so I asked her if I could sit down, and she move her items to the desk. She pulled her food to one side of the chair; it was better than before but now I only had half of it to sit on. I didn't argue and instead just laughed and shrugged.

      The student sipped some of her juice. I pulled out a generic sandwich from a blue fabric lunchbox that suddenly just appeared on the table. A student had also appeared on the other end of the table, her chair pulled in. She was eating a green salad with a less-viscous version of orange mandarin dressing. As she took a mouthful, she looked past me and suddenly laughed, getting a small piece of romaine on my leg.

      "Oh my god, I'm so sorry," she said, bursting out laughing and slightly covering her mouth. "At least I think that piece was clean."

    15. Firecycle

      I was in an unidentifiable apartment building; the walls were light cream and the flooring was beige-colored Berber that was softer and a bit fluffier than it should have been.

      The lighting was normal as if all the lights were on in the apartment. I knew it was morning without even having to look outside the one small window positioned on one side of the room.

      On the side opposite the window, there was a fairly large L-shaped desk made from smoothed oak wood complete with a dark purple chair. There was also an older gray laptop and thick books going from one end of the desk to the other, without being held up by book holders. What was strange about this setup was that there was a motorcycle next to the desk, a black one that was around a third larger than the actual size. Because of this, it was at eye level with me.

      It looked like the motorcycle in the image below, except with a few modern curves and longer handlebars.


      There was also a fire embellishment on the side of the main body that looked pretty much like the real thing: abstract, orange and red. I didn't look to see if it was on the other side too, because the desk was in the way.

      The most distinguishing feature of the motorcycle was that it had three-dimensional flames coming from both wheels. They weren't real flames, but I knew I designed them and "drew" them onto the bike. They erupted from both wheels but although they were the color of flames, they weren't very flame-like. It was as if someone used a pressure-sensitive brush on Photoshop and tapered it off... Times fifty. It looked cool, but not realistic.

      In front of the motorcycle, a 15" television screen appeared, held up by a tall, flat, dark gray machine. It was straight against the wall and created a ninety-degree angle as it ran along the floor, propping the bike up on top of it. I got on the bike somehow and the screen showed a beautiful lake with mountains on either side, dotted by roads. It was from a first-person perspective, as if I was on a boat on that lake.

      The next thing I knew, I was actually on the lake, riding along the surface of the water on the motorcycle. The fact that I went from being in an apartment to on the water didn't faze me. I pulled back on the motorcycle and it revved up, now traveling in the air, upwards. I got to the side of a mountain and continued to travel along it, still in the air, and ran into a group of three pink piranha fish, cartoony and styled like the Cheep-Cheeps in the Mario Games. They were pink, had a white flower-shaped underbelly, and a small yellow fin on each of their backs and tails. I ran into them and they bounced away slowly, their eyes now black "x"s.

      I came across another group of them with the same results before the dream came to an end.
