The Inner Crazy of Mr Speesh

I've finally decided to make the switch to an electronic DJ, as of August 1st. I made the stark realization that I'm far too much of a lazy-ass for the laborious act of physically writing them down. I'm wayyy too inconsistent. As I type about 12 or so times faster than I write, it seems like the obvious choice to try this system out.

I currently have had a fair amount of lucid dreams, but they generally happen so sporadically in time that I've not learned much from them. Only in the last two or three have I really remembered to stabilize and get some decent length out of them. In order to really progress I think its high time I set up some goals to gain a better control over the dream world:

Well...that should keep me busy for a while.

    1. A Cold Summer Day

by , 08-05-2010 at 06:48 PM (The Inner Crazy of Mr Speesh)
      Lucid: Not at all
      Dream Aids: None
      Vividness: Half realistic

      Dreamsign
      Lucidity

I was walking around an architecturally distorted University of Vermont campus on what should have been a hot summer day, but as it turns out the forecast had it slated to snow. A friend of mine was holding a party to celebrate the event. I wasn't initially interested, but while walking through campus I saw that apparently it was a big deal and tons of people were going there. It almost had the vibe of zombies shuffling towards an unknown destination.

Walking down there was a lot of fun. Everyone was ecstatic at the surprising snow, big snowball fights and wrestling matches would break out left and right, many of which I was a part of.

Upon getting to the house there was a random change of setting. It became more of a family reunion type of thing, with the party going on in the background. As often happens at our family reunions, we played poker. But instead of keeping the betting limit down low, this turned into high stakes gambling.

On the first hand I was dealt a full house and could hardly contain my excitement. The other two highest hands were a two pair and three of a kind. I was about to win a lot of money when I saw someone had taken my cards and started shuffling already. They thought I had shown already. Following that event I became very likely angrier than I've ever been in a dream. I completely lost it.

To make matters worse I realized that I had work that day, and was already half an hour late. I left the house in a terrible mood and walked the other way. While walking away the dream fades.

    2. Fragments: 8.4.2010

by , 08-04-2010 at 06:47 PM (The Inner Crazy of Mr Speesh)
      Lucid: Nope
      Dream Aids: Calea Zacatechichi, Melatonin
      Vividness: Not great

      Dreamsign
      Lucidity

For dream memories that are just too vague, I think I'll keep them in one entry per night.

Fragment 1: I vaguely remember being at work and serving this obnoxious lady. Also one of my roommates was working there with me even though in waking life he works elsewhere.

Fragment 2: I was down south at home and found out that Frank Zappa was giving three concerts on the East Coast. I guess apparently he had come back from the dead to play a few shows. I was bummed because I couldn't make it to any of them.

    3. Flooding and Snakes

by , 08-04-2010 at 06:33 PM (The Inner Crazy of Mr Speesh)
      Lucid: Nope
      Dream Aids: Calea Zacatechichi, Melatonin
      Vividness: Not great

      Dreamsign
      Lucidity

I tried Calea for the third time. The first two times all it really did was keep me awake too long. Nothing happened to my dreams. This time was no different. Guess its just not my thing. Maybe I'll give it one more try in the future with a larger dose, but I doubt I'll buy it again.

I was in a wooded area by a large river, a very scenic spot. It didn't stay that way for long though. Clouds quickly rolled over and the sky split open with rain. The river quickly started to flood. I was with a random DC that I don't really remember who pointed out a multitude of snakes coming out of the lake. None of them looked the same either. They had really cool colorful patterns on them, and some of them were massive.

We ran away up towards a nearby wooden lodge to take cover in. I went up to the roof on a third floor to watch the elevating water level. There were a bunch of other people out there bungee jumping. It looked like a lot of fun so I joined them. By the time we were finished the sun was back out again, and there was a few feet of water on the ground level. I took out a rubber raft and explored the post-flood river. For some reason there were tons of exotic animals there like zebras and elephants. The dream ended shortly thereafter though.

    4. A Strange Drive

by , 08-03-2010 at 07:51 PM (The Inner Crazy of Mr Speesh)
      Lucid: Nope
      Dream Aids: None
      Vividness: Not very

      Dreamsign
      Lucidity

Another fragment unfortunately, but I'll take whatever I can get. I was driving up Main Street in my car at night, when all of a sudden after making a wrong turn it was daylight and I was in a completely exotic area. It almost looked like a walking tour of the jungle or something.

After reaching the top a bunch of extended family members I haven't seen in a while were there waiting for me. We started chatting about something but I can't remember what exactly, the memory fades after that.

It seems that in addition to seeing people I don't see very often in dreams, there are some contextual dreamsigns as well. The first highlight in this dream has to do with sudden and drastic changes in setting. This happens to me fairly often, I'll be in one setting and suddenly after one minor action will find myself in a completely different one. The other one I can think of right now is minor changes in a familiar setting. Last time I became lucid it was because I was in my own apartment, but all of the furniture was mixed up and put together differently. When something gets created from my memory it seems to come out very inverted.

    5. Lucid in NYC

by , 08-03-2010 at 07:31 PM (The Inner Crazy of Mr Speesh)
      Lucid: Hell yeah!
      Dream Aids: None
Vividness: Above average, but could be better

      Dreamsign
      Lucidity

I was in a huge city that I now believe to be a representation of New York, and something about the context rang funny to me. I did a reality check and quickly became lucid. I wish I could remember more about what exactly made me lucid. I think it occurred after a WBTB so its very possible I was just far more aware than usual.

Upon discovering my lucidity I began to ground myself in the dream by taking in my surroundings and feeling whatever I could. I seem to have gotten the hang of calming down and remembering to stabilize in a lucid dream, though my stabilization technique still probably needs some work. I should try the shouting CLARITY trick sometime soon, as this one wasn't incredibly vivid.

There was unfortunately no time for any of that though, as all I was able to do in this lucid was walk down the street a bit stabilizing before a call on my cell phone woke me up. Unfortunate, but I'm still ecstatic at the fact I've had two lucid dreams in a week now. That's not happened to me before.

    6. Strange Ocean Weather

by , 08-03-2010 at 07:22 PM (The Inner Crazy of Mr Speesh)
      Lucid: No
      Dream Aids: Not a one
      Vividness: Not great

      Dreamsign
      Lucidity

This was a short fragment. It was an overcast day, but not too inclement. Nevertheless, by a rock face we were seeing little white tornadoes break out every so often. Not dangerous or anything, they'd just move around a bit before dissipating.

The waves were also very strange. Despite the distinct lack of wind there would be huge waves. But not exclusively. The waves were completely random. Huge ones would be followed by tiny ones, or anything in between. It made for very difficult swimming.

    7. Infiltrating a Police Station

by , 08-02-2010 at 06:17 PM (The Inner Crazy of Mr Speesh)
      Lucid: Not quite
      Dream Aids: None
Vividness: Not great, but better than the last few

      Dreamsign
      Lucidity

I was harassed by a rude, but admittedly cute female cop about being in the abandoned building of the previous dream. On rare occasions they tend to have loose segues into each other like this. I later saw her harassing someone who was just burgled, telling him that burglary is too insignificant of a crime for her. I got the idea in my head that she was crooked, and vowed to take her down.

I met a shady character who looks like Matt Berry (been watching too much IT Crowd lately). We made a deal. He'd give me the schematics of the cop building, and I'd steal a high tech piece of equipment for him that they kept. While on the inside I'd be able to frame the cop, provided she wasn't working late in her office that night.

At night I snuck inside, made my way over to the elevator and took it up. To my surprise a random talkative guy who I'd met in waking life not too long ago was in there, and we chatted on the way up. We both had nothing to do with the police force. After reaching the third floor I got out and rounded the corner where her office would be. I jumped back as I saw someone move in there. It wasn't her though.

Some other guy had snuck in there as well, but with different intentions from mine. I think he was a stalker or something because he was making weird and creepy messages for her. He was armed with a strange looking pistol as well. I wanted to talk to the guy but as soon as he saw me come in he was shooting. I ducked behind the corner I came from.

The pistol sprayed about five bullets at a time, but had to be reloaded very often.
During one of his reloads I grabbed a decorative vase that was displayed behind me. I rushed in and threw it at the guy's head. He went straight down. I then planted something something in her desk (can't really remember what, maybe drugs or something?) and left.

Just down the hall was the equipment I was sent to fetch. I carefully removed it from its display without setting off the alarm and got out of there.

    8. Football by a Beach Park

by , 08-02-2010 at 05:55 PM (The Inner Crazy of Mr Speesh)
      Lucid: Nope
      Dream Aids: None
      Vividness: Not great

      Dreamsign
      Lucidity

I was tossing a tiny football around with two old friends that I haven't seen in probably 10+ years (possible dreamsign? this seems to happen fairly often). My overall form was much better than it would have been in waking life. Then a cousin of mind came over with some people I work with (an odd combination), and asked if I wanted to explore an abandoned building. We walked over to it. The building itself wasn't very exciting at all, and just smelled really bad.

This segued into another more interesting dream.

    9. Fighting a Sorcerer

by , 08-01-2010 at 09:45 PM (The Inner Crazy of Mr Speesh)
      Lucid: Not in the slightest
      Dream Aids: None
      Vividness: Pretty faded

      Dreamsign
      Lucidity

All I remember from this one is being in the middle of fighting a sorcerer. No idea what for, other than the the fact that he was trying to kill me. It was a very intense setting, which reminds me in retrospect of the climax of an action movie.

We started off in a large and fancy foyer with a marble artistic motif, perhaps in a mansion. I shot at him with a gun but it had no effect. Someone yelled that the only way to kill him was to stab him in the heart. A difficult task because he was much faster and stronger than I was. It took every ounce of effort I had in that foyer not to get killed, and eventually retreated exhausted.

I found my way into a surreal and trippy conveyor belt about 10 meters wide and carrying a bunch of strangely shaped objects to an unknown location. Aside from this windy conveyor belt, everything surrounding me was completely black, infinite space.

The sorcerer found me there and the fighting continued again, this time on slowly moving ground. I kept trying to make my way towards the end of this conveyor belt, hopping from object to object while avoiding his attacks. His regular mode of attack involved shooting some form of energy at me which I'd dodge, and then swiftly appearing right next to me to slice me in two with his massive sword. Had he been more offensive he could have killed me in seconds, seems he was just toying with me.

At one point during one of his charges he miscalculated and gave me a chance to push him off balance. He fell off the platform we were on and got electrically shocked after falling to the belt itself. He bounced back up completely stunned and immobile. I got a small dagger out and plunged it into his heart, waking up pretty much instantly after that happened.

This was an atypical dream for me, usually the content of my non-lucids are much more grounded in the mundane happenings of everyday life. This surreal setting is certainly a welcome change!
