Fragment about eating a lettuce sandwich.

      WBTB

I WILD into a black void. I look down and see my cello. I decide to play an improvised Baroque Suite. I scream at the end "I'm dreaming!!" I stupidly remember "In space, no one can hear you scream" When I start suffocating I wake up.

    2. Monster Inside Me

      by , 10-02-2012 at 08:37 PM (Zukin's Dream Journal! <3)
I was watching a movie with my mother. It was an abstract, independent horror film. It was disturbing in a very unusual way and it was black and white.

I become a part of the horror movie. I am now the main character.

I'm in a dark room. It's so dark I can't even see the walls. All that I can see is a little girl playing with a doll. But there is something standing behind her. It has long claws and burnt, black skin.

It reaches around her, she screams. The creature crushes the little girl's bones with his strength, and squeezes her until blood begins to drip out of her like a squeezed orange.

His black claws are so long that they encompass her entire body, squeezing every last drip of life out of her.

I am surrounded in the dark by this horrific creature. I run into the darkness.

I witness many deaths from this creature.

I find myself in a small castle. A symphony is playing in the middle of the room. There isn't any audience, just the symphony.

I listen to the man who plays the cello. The sound of his cello reverberates on every wall and comes back to my ears as perfection. He seems to lead the symphony with the melody of his cello.

I sense a change of atmosphere.

I am standing next to the staircase, above the symphony. I had been watching the man with the cello for so long that I had forgotten about the darkness, but felt it again.

I looked to my left and down the stone hallway. For a moment I thought I saw a presence. Things were turning black and white again, and the symphony began to slide their perfect melody into something darker.

"Not the cello player, not the cello player!" I think to myself, longing for whatever is coming to avoid him and his enchanting music.

I don't know where the creature is, but I can sense that it is getting closer.

I hear footsteps to my left. But then I hear them to my right.

I quickly glance to make sure everyone in the symphony is still alive, but when I look back up I see the darkness is beginning to return.

"Not the cello player, not him!" I scream in my mind.

I hear the clawing of the creature's claws against the marble. But I still can't tell where he is. I can feel him approaching. I hear his groan.

He appears below me, having crawled up the staircase's wall.

"It's not him I want, it's you," his raspy dark voice echoes towards me from the lowest layers of hell.

      I paralyze in fear.

"And - It's you that is the monster, my dear."

Truth hit me like a bullet. It was me that had killed all of those innocent people, but I blocked that memory from my mind and replaced it with something that I could reason with. Because I had committed crimes only a monster could live with.

"And so I've clawed my way up from hell to drag you back down with me," the angel of darkness sneered.

I immediately woke up and was frozen in heavy sleep paralysis. My room was warping around me.

I slipped back into the darkness and continued to run, darkness chasing darkness.

I woke back up to sleep paralysis and eventually managed to get out of it.

    3. Swan Lake Buffet and Fragment

by , 08-12-2011 at 05:17 AM (Sailing the Noosphere)
      1. I go to see Swan Lake at Cincinnati's Music Hall with C.W. We pass a White Castle on the way there, and I remark how it's practically an outpost of my college with the clientele it gets. We arrive at the hall, and as we ascend the escalator we see Dr. L. and give him a salute. We get to the lobby and see a glorious buffet laid out before us; the ballet is already starting, and we hear a flautist fail her solo. I start eating and scarf down hashbrowns, vegetables, and a roll before a frumpy attendant starts asking me questions. I act suspicious and evade her questions, and she starts chasing me down. I run into the auditorium, where I find my family and sit by them. I don't escape the woman, though, and am kicked out.

      2. I view a montage of Call of Duty matches, all taking place in some sort of museum. It's a hardcore assault on an elevator, and teams trade places between attack and defense. The terrorists almost win a match, letting only two of the good guys escape before time runs out. Once, when the elevator is nearing the attack stage, a string quartet forms and plays Metallica in the space.
    4. Fragments for July 31-August 2 2011

      1. I'm in a dorm at college, playing the newest Grand Theft Auto game. Eventually I get bored and return to my own room, which is full of frat boys from my study abroad trip. They're rifling through my stuff, and understandably I ask them to leave. When they don't I start to yell, then threaten to call campus police. They do leave, but slowly, and I threaten the last one out with a baseball bat. After a bit of peace, one of them calls me, but I ignore the ring. Suddenly, I realize that I'm late to class.

      2. I'm watching some sort of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure / Crossroads crossover movie. The main character, a guitar playing youngster, has a book of scales that he carries like a hymnal. He engages in a guitar duel with the Devil; as they play, the Devil's hands expand unrealistically to make jaw-dropping gaps, but the kid's hands do as well. After a bit of this, the kid breaks out a soulful ballad, saying he's "already used the Paganinni."

      3. I'm in a swamp at my grad school, which is adorned with placards showing hunting spots for deer. It's a little before dusk, and I can't see any colors. As the sun sets, I realize that my feet are plagued with green tree frogs! I get out of there and call my parents, who say they've been in a concert the whole time.

      4. I'm at the grad school rec center, watching some documentary about NCAA basketball. The players are described as "pistons in a well-oiled machine," not as people. Inspired by their fitness, I borrow a ball and start shooting (poorly). After a bit, a bunch of big guys gather around my court. It was reserved by them, and embarrassed I slink off to the elliptical room. My mom wanders into the room, saying she's been looking for me.

      5. I'm at a concert with my brother and a random girl from college (A.H). The band is a rather classical one, with instruments of cello, recorder, and violin, but the players are dressed in odd anime-inspired costumes. After their set, one of the players jumps down and starts to mingle with us at a large table. He gives us snarky logic/math puzzles to solve, and I find I can't beat them. I'm embarrassed, but after the table has dissolved he comes up and apologizes to me. I say that I actually enjoyed the challenge.
    5. Fragments for July 21-22 2011

      1. I somehow manage to get myself into the tour pickup truck for the cello rock band Rasputina. Their frontwoman, Melora Creager, is utterly emaciated and is doing a large quantity of cocaine. I get dropped off a block from the venue in which they're playing, and walk to the venue confused and dejected.

      2. I'm in a Wal-Mart, being rather foolish and clumsy. I kick a chicken cage, with a chicken in it. It seems that I only break the front of the cage, which is glass, leaving the rest intact, but when I look at the cage the chicken is dead. An employee demands that I pay a ridiculous price for the two items.

      3. No details other than subject matter about cello playing and a double false awakening.
    6. Fragments for July 14 2011

      1. I'm on a road trip in the family car. We're on a bumpy path through a forest when I realize I really need to piss. I get out of the car, find a clearing with plenty of rocks and relieve myself. As I do so, the scene seamlessly transitions into a house. When I finish up, I realize that the house is full of sorority girls who are studying hard, and mortified I run out of the building onto the porch. I'm ready to find the car and leave when suddenly they all run out of the house, dressed only in towels. Some say as they pass, "He's cute!," others, "He's weird!" They gather some distance away, and soon a group of frat guys gather and start to do comedy routines.

      2. I'm in a drive-though market, where one can pull up to stalls selling expensive deli sandwiches.

      3. President Obama thinks it is his last to live and goes about accordingly, kissing random girls and enlisting passerby into a spontaneous, show-stopping musical number.

      4. While at an orchestra practice, I notice a beautiful but disdainful blonde violinist across the room. I know that I will never see her again, so after practice I go to exchange a word or two. I am not at all put off or scared by her as we talk.

    8. Fragments from July 9-12 2010

by , 07-13-2010 at 12:23 AM (Sailing the Noosphere)
Absolutely horrible recall, but I post what I can.

      1. I'm playing a rock concert in an elementary school. I remember it's very cheerily decorated, which clashes somewhat with the music I decide to perform.

      2. I miss a Monday softball game for my research station's team.

      3. I find myself walking down the halls of a local college, where I meet my old cello teacher. I continue, then meet scores of people from my research station. They confront me about my behavior at a Saturday night party, and my mom finds out about my transgressions. I feel horrible.
