      Sep 1 2018

The night started with some visualization of a dream I'm trying to incubate, which lasted probably 30 minutes to an hour. After that, I set my intentions to become lucid and headed to sleep.

My first dream of the night involved some kind of network TV teenage vampire drama plot, which took place in a neighborhood similar to mine from childhood. In the next dream, I was in a trench coat placing high-stakes bets using a 90's era cell phone. At the end of this dream, all of my cronies were in a room, facing forward in rows, and I was facing backward. We were all peeing on the ground (I think it was a power play).

Next, I'm in a huge convention center. I had just seen the newest Avengers movie (I haven't seen it IWL). I was ranting to others about how Thanos had all of the Avengers on his side and wasn't even fighting, but was just using the Avengers to fight. The convention center was huge (should've caught that, since disproportionate structures is one of my dreamsigns). We (a couple of DCs and I) were walking through the ground floor when we ran into
      Spoiler for nudity:
The dream shifts and I'm walking with some old high school friends and acquaintances. We come across M, who's sitting on the floor in front of some people trying to take a picture. We tell her to get up and stop blocking the picture, and she says "This is a picture?" in a way that for some reason made me give out this awful dolphin-like laugh. I remember thinking in my non-lucid state, "stop that, you'll wake yourself up!". Sure enough I did.

After this dream sequence, I got up as my fiance left for work. I walked my dog so he wouldn't bother me for the rest of the session and drank a little apple juice. I MILDed with "I will become lucid in my next dream" and "The next time I see a person, I will look at my hands and realize I'm dreaming". The first dream had very low lucidity. It was sort of a western setting in a two or three story house. Outside I could see a desert/grassland with tall grass growing and mountains in the background, and the sky was really beautiful (should have RC'd here also, abnormal sky is a dreamsign). I walked around the house and looked out of the windows.

From this dream, I awoke into a false awakening. In the FA, I was trying to get back to bed to LD (didn't catch this). At some point I opened my dream eyes and saw a shallow, long, white plastic sink on the wall. It occured to me that I was dreaming because that doesn't exist in my room, but it didn't "click" until I got up and reached for the knob. At this point there was a shift in my consciousness that almost threw me off balance, like flipping a switch. I walked to a nearby mirror on the wall and experienced what people say -- the properties of my face were changing and twitching, especially my nose, jaws, and lips. I didn't say "clarity now!" like I usually do, and I really need to stabilize. I had some feeling throughout my dream body, but felt numb, so I started slapping my face and pulling on my lips, tongue, cheeks. I was incredibly focused on engaging my tactile senses. I tried to summon my dream totem associated with stabilizaiton, but for some reason I didn't have pockets. I decided I would summon a DC to help, so strangely I called out the name of an acquaintance from high school (I haven't even consciously thought of this person in years). At first I called aloud, and I could only get out the first name since my voice was garbled as it always is. So I used non-verbal commands! I looked towards the doorway and she appeared! It was awesome to see this work, as it's only worked for me in the past in a semi-lucid. I think I told her to give me a massage so that I could feel my body better. She had a serious face on and nodded agreeably. I was wearing a red t-shirt and a thin, dark blue jacket like the band kids used to wear. I started to take this off, and sat back on the bed as she approached, at which point I woke up.

The first thing I did upon waking was an RC (I've been trying to train myself to do these at each waking), but it wasn't a dream. I was really pissed at myself for not thinking of the ways I've stabilized in the past ("clarity now!", breathe in and focus on senses, pry eyes open, etc.), but I was happy to have an LD after about a week-long dry spell. I reflected on what I could have done better and visualized it, then MILDed again and went to sleep.

I had a chain of FAs/DILDs at this point*. In the first, I was in a lit version of my bedroom. I got up, became lucid, and walked around briefly before losing lucidity. In the next, I'm in a grocery store on a higher staircase. I see a lot of DCs around the corner of the opening, and I look at a clock that says "08:00". I become lucid, feeling off-balance like before, and walk around the display, looking at some bread before losing lucidity. In the next dream, I'm on the street of my childhood home looking at a large white column in the middle of NOG's yard (one of our neighbors). There's moss or dirt up to about shoulder level on the column. My sister and mom are behind me and commenting on the small car parked in middle of the yard, trying to make out the license plate. I become lucid and start looking at some huge leaves on some plants that appeared spontaneously. We're looking through the leaves, arguing whether the license plate is UWP 117 or 116. The dream fades slowly out and back in, then fades completely.

From here I had a series of longish NLs:
I have a collection of wood carvings/sculptures. One in particular is of Spyro, the others are small people. The house I'm in reminds me of a previous vacation house.
There is a mouse running around the backyard at my childhood home. It runs up to the door and allows me to pick it up. My parents' dog and mine both just sniff at it when it approaches. It's almost cartoon-like, but is very real. We all fall in love with the mouse. At some point my sister finds a "water snake" which looks like it's breaded with panko bread crumbs until she places it in a bucket full of water and cleans it off (now it looks like bread dough). There is a 1ft dark green toady that walks through our back porch in the midst of all this, as well as some small slugs. My mom is sad/angry, lashing out passive agressively (this is practically a dream sign).
The next dream is in an urban fantasy setting (by this I mean full-out fantasy that just happens to pass through some urban sections, not vampires and werewolves in modern clothing). I am tasked with delivering something. I have to walk around these long, curving, somewhat cyberpunk blue corridors in the middle of the city. I'm wearing peasant's clothes and have a sword. Whatever it is I'm delivering is in a brown sack (possibly the remains of something or someone?). I have to double-back at some point (this could be a dream sign, going down the same path twice). Eventually I arrive at the base, which is a fraternity or sorority house. I meet with the buyer/receiving party, and they say that it's not what they expected. Don't remember much after this and my pen ran out of ink, so the world will never really know.

Overall, it was a pretty good night! Summoned a DC and learned to use non-verbal commands. Will need to practice and visualize how to stabilize VTA (visual, tactile, and auditory) senses more.

*Because of their short nature and the fact that they were pretty much chained together, I'm going to count all of these short lucids as 1 in total, for a grand total of 2 LDs tonight.
    2. The Guadalupe Airport

      Color legend: Non-dream Dream Lucid

      Lucid #212: The Guadalupe Airport

I’m in a cafe talking to an art student in his early 20s as he walks out the door. I’m complimenting him on some piece of digital art that I saw in his online portfolio when I realize that I can’t remember his name. I ask and he says, “It’s Bradley,” as we shake hands. I think that this is a student in my 3-year-old son’s class, somehow all grown up.

Bradley leaves and I just stand there, confused about how this much time has passed. After a brief mental struggle, I realize that these facts just don’t fit together and
      I become lucid.

I spend a few moments looking around at the DCs in the cafe but they all seem fairly generic. I don’t have goals in mind and I’m anxious that I’ll waste the experience, so I head through the first door that I see, winding up in a bathroom. Somebody flushes from one of the stalls. I am not spending a lucid dream listening to people flush toilets, I think, and head back out through the bathroom, back through the cafe, and out into a mall.

I’m feeling less passive now and I try hard to remember what my goals were. Somehow I dredge up that a Task of the Month is to keep repeating whatever a DC says to you. I approach a balding, blonde-haired guy with glasses in his early 40s. He’s wearing a t-shirt that says something about the Windows registry and he’s looking at me like he wants to tell me something.

      “Talk to me!” I say.

He happily launches into an explanation of something about computers, but he’s speaking too rapidly for me to follow. I eventually start catching him mid-sentence. “If you have a memory block that…” and I babble back “If you have a memory block that!”

He scowls at the interruption. “You know what? I don’t think you’re actually into this!” And with that, he turns and walks away, looking offended.

I continue on, drifting through the crowd. I spot one guy that’s unusually tall and for some reason get the nasty impulse to mess with him. I kick him in the right shin and he falls forward, stopping just short of hitting the ground. Then he rises back up, looking angry and annoyed. “Sorry, that was stupid,” I say, scurrying away from him. He floats after me for a moment but I make an effort to think about other things as I evade him, flying down an escalator to the first floor.

I move through a relatively empty hallway, worrying for a moment about whether I’ll be able to remember what’s happened in the dream and take a moment to reflect on how cool this is.

Now I’m back in the main thoroughfare with the crowd. I spot two attractive women nearby, both Indian, one in her mid-twenties, the other in her mid-forties. I fly past them and they say something about going to Las Vegas. I want to impress them for some reason so I boast that I’m having a lucid dream and could travel to Las Vegas instantly. They laugh nervously and sort of edge away.

I say something like, “Here, I’ll show you!” and start flying away, slightly out of control. There’s an open chunk in the ceiling and I pass through it, turning and flailing a bit. Somehow I find myself flying along an airport runway at night. I hear “¡Happy Birthday Guadalupe!” by The Killers playing over what sounds like a clock radio and I worry that a morning alarm is going off. I fly up to a tall column of carved stone in the middle of the runway and reach out to touch it
      as the dream ends.
    3. 30th Jan 2013 Some sort of RTS, Robot Base Assault, Warcraft 3 Defense

by , 01-30-2013 at 04:22 PM (Scionox's Journal of Dreams)
Had major shift in sleeping schedule for this day due to some stuff happening IWL, didn't even had time to write DJ entry earlier on(i woke up like 12 hours ago), but still managed to keep it in memory, mostly fragments though.

      Dream 1:

I was playing some sort of military RTS, it had pretty realistic graphics. There was moment where i had to direct column of tanks and some other vehicles through net of roads and tunnels while trying to get in least amount of battles(it was probably some sort of transport column).

      Dream 2:

I was some sort of robot/mecha/cyborg. I was in some squad and we were assaulting the base of some other type of robots. We killed the commander but enemies kept respawning since our mission was to destroy some sort of antennae thingies and there was only one left. We had to retreat.

      Dream 3:

I was playing some custom map in Warcraft 3. It was some sort of defense map, it was maze-like and i think it was multiplayer. I was controlling some sort of demonesse and there were random enemies that were spawning from magic circles all over the map. I got defense set up on one of the corners of the map, near magic circle. Demonesse had ability to summon some sort of white wolves, place trees and ability to control mind on single enemy unit which required 10 seconds of concentration. I have made the mini-maze of trees for enemy units and had some unit with ranged attack captured with mind control ability which was attacking enemies in the mini-maze from the distance, also wolves were guarding the exit from mini-maze. Demonesse had some more abilities, but they were locked and the dream ended before that.

    4. Walking Dogs

      by , 02-05-2012 at 08:36 AM
      First

There is some kind of a performance at a movie theatre. I thought we were going to see a movie, but there was none. Just people acting in weird, mildly interesting ways. I tire quickly and go home.

I live in a rather large house, where I have a small room, but there is a large common area. I change my clothes there and decide to go to the center of the city. I take a bus. For a while I'm afraid that the bus is going to the wrong direction, but then remember that the route turns at a bridge.

      Second

I'm walking a dog amidst and ancient city. There are columns and stone buildings around me and I follow a road made of natural white stone. There are also decorative statues, plants and water canals. I enter an open area with a statue in the middle that looks like a wall. There is a man with a large black dog. The dog growls at my dog and a fight almost breaks out. Somehow it doesn't and I play with the black dog for a while.

      Third

Something happens that I don't remember. I'm getting back now, without a dog, and decide to swim along a ditch. The current is to the right direction. I have a receipt from a store and I put it on the water. I can step on it to get out of the water later. Unfortunately, it sinks in a torrent. So much for the swimming idea. I get out of the water and hide behind a line of trees.

A man with a dog appears from behind a building and continues along the walkway. There is another walkway and some bushes between them. I crouch and stay behind the bushes, and get to the other side of the building without being seen.

There is a wall in the middle of the next area, and there's some text on it. I'm interested in one piece that has to do with yoga.

    5. The White Slats and Paper

      Dream:

I was at a house (maybe mine, not sure, it wasn't familiar) with my stepmom and stepbrother. As I arrived I saw my stepbrother running around a volleyball net outside. Later, I was in the house with my stemom, and I was looking out the window to the backyard watching my stepbrother running around the net again. Then some man appeared (like a maintenance guy) and walked over out of sight to the left of the house and went into a garage. Because he did this we started going around the garage (which was outlined all along the back yard sort of looking like a place where people can tie up there horses temporarily when they go into a store) and knocking down these white flat thin slats of metal that were hanging up on nails. The slats would drop to the ground and we would go up and pull these big pieces of white paper down that were stapled to the wall or the overhang. I went over to the far right and started there since my step brother was already started on the left. I was having some difficulty and I felt so incredibly short in the dream (I am in real life, but this was exaggerated in the dream). After I knocked down my slat, the paper was too high up for me to reach. Then instead of my stepbrother, I saw a kid from work (cant stand him, we'll call him A.P.) and he came over as if to "show me how to do it". I turned and saw a wooden column beside me with silver metallic rungs all along it, so I started to climb it to get to the paper, but about halfway up the rungs stopped on one side and began on the opposite, so I had to swing around. On the otherside there were silver rings attached to the column, and they were all draped over each other staggered, but tons of em. I think I may have asked A.P. why they would be there and he took his hand and strummed them like it was some sort of an instrument and this loud hummmm came ringing out from it, I was amazed at this in my dream. Next thing I did was go and reach the paper and rip it down and that's the last thing I remember.
    6. Embarrassing interview, remodeled lobby

      by , 11-09-2010 at 12:45 PM
Good morning, everybody. I remember two dreams from last night. The second dream occurred in a 15-minute space between my waking up to check the time and my actually getting out of bed.

      Dream #1

I was in a forest or a park. It was a clear, autumn day. I stood with a small group of people who were probably around my age. We were hiding or just standing behind a tall tree like a poplar but with really ropy bark.

In a leaf-strewn clearing just beyond the tree, a woman was interviewing "the famous artist" Dylan Reed. He was either a poet or a punk rock singer. But he was generally known as a kind of rebel genius.

The interviewer started asking the man a series of questions based on something I had told her about a friend of mine who was also known as kind of a wild guy. The friend may have been among the group of people standing with me behind the tree.

I felt embarrassed that the interviewer was posing all these questions in such a way that they were obviously about my friend and they were obviously made to guve the impression that I thought badly about my friend. And, worst of all, they were posed directly to "the famous artist" Dylan Reed, of whom I thought so much!

The scene of the interview seemed to change from being in the forest or park to being in some kind of department store, possibly near the perfume section. The interview was now over, and the woman had walked away.

One or two friends and I were now trying to meet Dylan Reed, who was still milling around, all by himself. He seemed to be a tall, good-looking, white man, somewhat well dressed, with hair about down to his jawline. The perfume area was now something like an area displaying things like small luggage and bookbags.

Dylan Reed and my wild friend were something like the same person. My friends and I got a chance to speak with him. While my friends, in particular a pretty female friend, were speaking with Dylan Reed, I was thinking to myself how to make him understand that I didn't think about him in such a critical way as the interviewer had made it sound.
I may have been staring at a very nice, navy blue book bag up on a glass shelf. I may have seen it from a low angle, a child's point of view.

      Dream #2

I walked through a very nice lobby like in a museum or a very big library. There were stone columns and walls, marble floors, and wide, curving staircases. A dim light flowed in from high windows. Some walls or portions of walls may also have been wooden.

I was particularly interested in a set of columns that looked "Egyptian," with very ornate, almost wood-like, carvings of fruit and tree-textures.

I was either walking with or meeting up with a woman about my age, possibly my old friend P. She told me, "I've been around this place since the mid-70s. So I've seen it really develop and change through the whole remodeling process." I was pretty impressed.
